Absolutely fantastic restaurant in a really cool building. Every single dish we had was very tasty and well presented. The Elk Tartare was one of the best things we have ever eaten in our lives. The menu had a ton of variety, including things like Elk, Octopus, Salmon, Beef, etc. Everything was plated beautifully and portions were fair for the price. The desserts were world class. We got one of each dessert and they were all delicious in their own way. The vegan carrot cake tasted like it wasn’t even vegan. Highly recommend this fine dining restaurant!

Our experience at the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant was immaculate. Our server was on top of all our needs and did a great job at making sure our drinks were topped off and table was clean (in between the appetizers and entrees). I’d highly recommend trying the octopus, and bone marrow! My entree was the Alberta beef tenderloin, and it was so flavourful and tender. My knife slid through the meat like butter. 10/10!

We surprised my mom with high-tea for her 95th birthday. Suzanne the event coordinator was amazing and Kayla our server was so helpful and patient. The desserts and sandwiches were delicious. I want to take this opportunity to thank the staff of Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant for making this occasion a memorable one for my mother. On behalf of our family and friends thank you.

Attended a wedding and reception at this location the May long weekend. Mother Nature turned on her charm and beamed down on the outdoor ceremony. Champagne and appetizers were scrumptious between the ceremony and reception. Reception was inside the dining room. Food was fabulous. Once the speeches were over, the head table was removed and the dance floor opened up. Memorable evening at a stunning location.

My boyfriend and I always wanted to try this place out & it was phenomenal! The only thing was that I reserved a table a day before and I received a call the day of as a reminder in regards to our reservation. When we arrived the hostess did not see my name and mentioned that I didn’t have a reservation. But it might have been a system error. She seated us immediately so thank you so much! We appreciate it!! The service was great and the food came out quick. The timing was excellent. Every bite was delicious and the ambiance of this restaurant is so unique and classic. We enjoyed every minute of it. This marks one of our top 5’s for sure. We will be back soon!!

I found this place for an elegant classic British style afternoon high tea from Google view. It was the right choice. The scenery at the Fish Creek Provincial Park was gorgeous. They only have afternoon high tea available on weekends from 2:00-4:30pm so better call and make a reservation a couple weeks in advance. I know they will be close for winter break after my visit. Hopefully you guys can get a chance to try it after they reopen. My overall experience was pleasant. The three tier stand British high tea set was very presentable and everything tasted delicious. The pastries was just right for my sweet tooth and not overly sweet. The finger sandwiches were very refreshing. The tea set came with a nice selection of black tea. Our server was very attentive and provided excellent service to us for our entire dining time. Although it was considered quite pricey for an afternoon tea but it was a very memorable experience and a good choice for special occasion and celebration. Everyone of us enjoyed it very much.

We traveled 2 hours for my husband's birthday dinner and it was worth it! All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing! My husband had the bison striploin and I had the seared scallops. From appetizers to dessert it was delightful and the relaxing atmosphere made it that much more enjoyable. Thank you for the terrific experience!

This is my first time eating here. What a fantastic place to visit which we had a delicious 3 course meal for only $30 each. She had a salad and I had the jalapeño cheddar soup, pan fried salmon with veggies and the panna cotta with berry compote. Yum! I also got a free birthday dessert! :) Before we left for the day we went upstairs to check out the rest of the ranche. It's so gorgeous, loved every minute as it was set up so nicely. I will definitely be back again and I'll bring more company.

Exceptional professional and welcoming service and really delicious food! Haven’t been back here for over 25 years and I’m glad this gem is still going strong. Ventured this establishment for our wedding anniversary and everything worked out great. Such a nice experience and meal. I also really appreciated how clean everything was even right within a provincial park. The smell of fresh flowers was intoxicating. Ambiance - 4.7 Service - 5.0 Food - 4.7 So I rounded up to 5. Well deserved. Food got a bit of a knock because the charcuterie needed more/different cheese and a different sauce complement. But the meats were excellent and it was still very much enjoyed. Surf and turf was the main and it came with bone marrow, which was the best we have ever had. The other selections were also perfectly cooked. (Hard to do that with Bison) Ya it’s expensive but you likely won’t find a nicer post meal walk in the whole city and you could skip dessert and go to Annie’s for an ice cream which is right beside the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Had my birthday brunch here - great location (i.e. it's peaceful as it's right by a park/greenery), food and portion sizes are also pretty good. I didn't find anything unique with the dishes served, but it's the typical brunch we go for (bennies and steak and eggs). Our server was amazing as well (I didn't get to learn her name sadly). Overall experience is 4/5.

This is a charming historic home well placed in fish creek park. Great place to take a stroll and grab some food. Had a lovely brunch here with a group, we had some privacy in an upstairs room to enjoy the occasion. The French toast was a decadent treat. Will be back to try their dinner menu.

Went recently (Sept 2022) for the first time. We went for brunch. The location is phenomenal. The whole restaurant outdoor area is super nice and I was able to see the staff cutting chives from their own garden. The food was great, pretty straightforward. My steak was exactly I requested and the Hollandaise sauce was really good. The ambient is nice, staff was super nice. Overall a good experience.

What a great dinner experience! Visiting Calgary from Europe, we felt like being in a very good European restaurant. Naturally friendly and attentive service, a delicious amuse bouche, a great wine list, and the option to have a small desert platter with different things to try. They even did an espresso macchiato for me after dinner! We will be back :-)

Had the most Birthday dinner here! From the moment I walked in, I felt so welcome. The service is amazing. You can tell everyone worked as a team. Dana killed it with making me feel so special even when the restaurant was full. We ordered the oysters and tartare to start and everything was delightful. The suggested pairings made us giggly before our mains. She suggested the chef’s daily which did not disappoint along with the scallops and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a delectable crème brûlée along side a Coco Diva. OMG!!! Will be coming back for more. Can not wait to try the rest of the menu. I wish I wasn’t so full. Dana you rocked our night !!!!

A company Christmas party: The staff were kind and very attentive to our group. The service was great overall. The food was excellent. Most of our table ordered beef tenderloin and all had great things to say. I opted for the vegetarian option and got the beet risotto. I was not disappointed in not having any meat as my dish was very flavorful. It was a great mashup of risotto and a borscht. Dessert might have been the best part. The deconstructed root beer and caramel corn cheesecake was incredible. I would recommend The Ranche to any size of group from a nice date night with your significant other to a larger group or party. Awesome!

Lovely afternoon tea! I made reservations about a month in advance knowing that Mother’s Day was coming up. I’m glad I called early since the staff informed me that their last day for afternoon tea was the week before Mother’s Day. We got in for a 3 pm time slot. It wasn’t super busy inside. We were seated quickly and we ordered our teas shortly afterwards. The waitress made sure to note of any allergies. The ambiance was cozy and we were sat right by the fireplace. We waited 15-20 min for the tier display to arrive. It was very impressive and I was happy to see so many different items offered. The middle section was the absolute best. I’ve had afternoon tea at the Banff springs and I would honestly say that this menu was way more flavourful and impressive. The scones were light and buttery. And the cakes were light and not too sweet. Overall it was definitely worth the price and hype. Service was great, not over and beyond, but nothing significant to complain about. I’d only ask that we’d be checked on a bit more or asked if we want more hot water for the tea. We’d definitely return for tea or another special meal in the future. Highly impressed.

Last time I was here was 3 years ago, and the place looks and feels the same. No masks or weirdness from staff or patrons. Things were normal. The service, except for the overly-friendly valleygirl hostess who insisted on calling us "guys," is always respectful and dignified. The food is good. I ordered the tuna, which was good but expected more taste from the coconut sauce. The lamb that followed was cooked to perfection. My friend had a salad and the bass, and they were excellent. The setting of the restaurant is unique, right on the edge of a provincial park, screams early 20th century Alberta. That setting is hard to rival. One can easily have a pleasant post dinner walk, if one chooses, right outside the door, into the park. Overall, a very good experience and good value for the money.

10/10. Reservations for my birthday were made and we got there 20 min early and they sat us down right away. Our waiter was amazing to say the least, very well informed and I asked his opinion about food. Service was very well timed and the food was AMAZING. Well plated and cooked perfectly. I would absolutely visit again.

Fine dining with a flair for a beautiful casual atmosphere. A Ranchhouse from the past, restored to embrace the present, the setting captivated our imagination and anticipation from our first steps into this magical place nestled in the valley of Fish Creek Park. The treatment we received from our lovely server, Dana, to the entire meal from beginning to end, this has been, by far, the BEST EXPERIENCE we have had. The presentation of food and portions were perfect. Flavors in every dish left us speechless... Just an incredible place to celebrate my 61st birthday. We loved our evening. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to the entire staff for a memorable evening. We look forward to our next meal with you all.

You'll notice that although our order was initially bereft of one dish that it was to include; five complete stars have nevertheless been awarded in rating to this establishment due to the prompt redelivery of the aforementioned missing duck entree. Alongside the duck was a gratuity of no less than 3 extra desserts, each of premium quality. Telling You that my lamb shank entree was among the top 5 meals I've ever had is a slight understatement as to to entree's overall quality when deliciousness is the metric of assessment. My family has likewise corroborated this seemingly fantastical sentiment of Bow Valley Ranch's extensive dinner selection. Surrounding the lamb was an entirely verdant assortment of mouthwateringly braised and steamed vegetables immersed in a tomato bbq type sauce. The dessert's sumptuousness would have left a death row condemned inmate with no regrets in neither life nor their last meal choice. Topped with organic strawberrys, raspberrys as juicy as your grandmother would have grown and blackberries jucier than the cleft of Gaia's nightside.

Bow Valley Restaurant is a culinary gem in the heart of Calgary. This place has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff . We ordered the chicken dish and french toast and both were cooked to perfection. The flavors were bold and rich, and the presentation was impressive. The portion size was generous. Overall, Bow Valley Restaurant exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to go back and try more of their creative dishes!

Went for their 4 course dinner, a New Years Eve special, and the food was spectacular. The place was stunning, and I loved ambiance. It reminded me of a rustic/upscale restaurant. Decorated beautifully for Christmas. It was my first time there, and I will definitely be back

It was an amazing day catching up with a great friend over brunch in this historic restaurant. Great to be back again as it has been a few years since I first discovered this place. The service was great as always! The brunch menu, albeit limited, had enticing choices and the servings were huge (well, my order at least), with extremely reasonable pricing. I never thought I’d say this as I’m a pig when it comes to food, but I almost didn’t finish my Eggs Benedict with sides of bacon and sausages and potatoes and fruits. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was freshly prepared and enjoyed it thoroughly. My friend’s Shakshouka was deliciously exotic with all its spices and I loved it. The setting is always magical here. Another great dining experience!

Food was decent. Nicely presented. Had the eggs benedict. They're all trying something different with the hollandaise sauce from everyone else. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. Orange juice was good, tasted fresh not from a bar gun.

We were visiting from Vancouver this Christmas and tonight was the first time we had dinner at this beautiful restaurant. Our lady server was particularly helpful. We had the yellowfin tuna crudo, grilled pacific octopus, the burrata cheese, surf & turf, beef tenderloin, and the pan seared cod. They were all very delicious. We will definitely be back again in our future visits.

We dined here last winter for a family Birthday and everyone had a really lovely time. From the aperitifs through to dessert, the food, service, and atmosphere were some of the top dining experiences to be had in Calgary. The restaurant itself is situated on beautiful scenic grounds, with views for miles. The restaurant itself is cozy with warm woods and decor, including a fireplace. Time well spent.

First time eating at the Ranch. It was bitterly cold day out side. We arrived on time for our 11:30 reservation and were seated by the fireplace which was nice. The menu is small but most people should be able to find at least one thing they like. Within 15 minutes of arriving we had ordered drinks and food.... and so began the long wait. To be honest I felt we were forgotten. Our drinks were empty before too long and they sat empty for a long time before we were offered any more drinks. The food took about an 75 minutes to arrive after we ordered it. (it was a quite mid week lunch). This amount of time from order to table is just not acceptable. By this point it had been 2 hours since we arrived. The food was good, served hot and made to order. No complaints about the food at all. When we finished our meal we then had to wait for probably another 30minutes before we were offered dessert. We declined dessert and just asked for the bill... which took another 20-30 minutes to arrive. Its now pushing 3 in the afternoon. I honestly don't see myself coming back here. As I said the food was good, but the service was beyond slow. I'd like to think that it was just us and that this wasn't normal but the two tables that sat nearby both got there before us and both left after us. If you have an entire afternoon to spend eating lunch then its a nice little spot, but if you have other things to get done then you might want to rethink this. If you do go, you might want to bring a snack to get you through the long wait.

We had dinner here for our 7th anniversary. It was fantastic. When we arrived, I asked for a table next to the window. It was reserved for another customer but they let us take it, which was miles ahead of the table next to the kitchen they had given us. Great lighting, great views. It completely changed the experience. So thank you to that customer! The staff were all great. Our server Dana was a total gem. Charming. Knowledgeable. Attentive as we needed without being a bother. Seriously, keep her around. The food was phenomenal. I couldn't find a thing to complain about if I tried. The chef's mouth watering amuse-bouche kicked off the evening. I don't know what was in it, but I want 50 more. The Elk tartare was delectable. The surf and turf is perfect for two and mouth watering. The desserts are perfect and even came customized for our celebration. It was a wonderful evening, and a pleasant surprise for myself, the guy who normally goes after street food and local dives. This is true elevated dining and it's worth it.

We came here for brunch and loved the decor and history of the place right away. I had the Peri Peri Chicken and my boyfriend had the Eggs Benedict. His meal was pretty standard breakfast fare; enjoyable but not anything to write home about. My Peri Peri Chicken with hummus and parsley salsa verde was mind-blowingly good though. The customer service was also exceptional. Our waitress Mikaela was attentive, prompt, and kind. We can't wait to come back and try the dinner fare!

Went for brunch to celebrate a 65th birthday. It was surprisingly quiet on a Sunday morning - we had reservations but there was plenty of space for walk-ins. We had a table at the window looking over the beautiful gardens. Outdoor seating was also available. We ordered a variety of brunch items. The eggs Benedict was a highlight, as we're the kids french toast sticks. All served beautifully with fresh fruit and edible flowers. My son had the burger and it was huge - enough even to satiate a growing teen. After brunch we were able to explore the grounds and art. All in all a beautiful place!

Went for a birthday dinner on a Sunday. The Ranch house was decorated for Christmas and it looked very seasonal. The menu has a few options for appetizers - we shared the beet salad which was very good and a burrata with sour dough & French baguette - I tasted the cheese but as I eat gluten free, I could not have the bread but the others enjoyed it. For mains my husband had the strip-loin steak while my daughter who is a pescatarian and I had the cod which came in a tomato broth with fennel, shrimp, mussels and a fingerling potato. Some mussels were tough and overly fishy but some were good - seafood on the prairies is always a risk. The space is like a large rustic dining hall with a fire place at one end and of course an antler light fixture! Service was friendly and water glass fillers were super attentive. Portions were adequate and when they heard it was our daughter’s birthday, they brought her out a bite size birthday treat which was nice of them to do. Cost was roughly $75 a person for two appetizers and three entrees.

Outstanding food and stellar service. The food came out in a timely manner and tasted great. They offer a choice of eating at the main dining room or a quieter space inside one of the rooms. The service staff came in to check on us to make sure we always had glasses filled with water, bread, and they also checked to make sure everything was to our liking. I ordered the roasted beef tenderloin which was absolutely delicious. Even the veggies were seasoned well and cooked perfectly which made me eat everything on my plate. For dessert, I shared the chocolate mousse which was incredible. It wasn't too sweet and the consistency was perfect. It is on a higher price point but it is worth it. A great place to go to for special occasions.

I went to dinner with a friend this past week to celebrate his birthday. During this time, it's very infrequent that I go out. This experience was spectacular! The ambience was just stellar. The server was warm, and had a wonderful charismatic draw. He elevated the light-heartedness of the event. And that is pretty important in these unsettling times. The food was to die for and I ended it with a specialty coffee (The BlackJack) that has ruined me forever for any other specialty alcohol coffee drink. Thank you to all the staff and management for a marvelous experience. I will be recommending you frequently.

The Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant is an excellent steak house. My wife had the strip loin while I had the tenderloin. Both were cooked nicely to order and the flavour profile of both was on point. The meat was tender and juicy. The beet salad was tasty and nicely dressed. The desserts were decadent. The service was friendly and timely. Definitely a place to go for special occasions.

Beautiful park setting. Amazing history. Foods was stellar, wine was great. Great staff. A+, highly recommended for a lunch, supper or just a glass of wine on the patio.

This review is for the al fresco domes. The grilled Humboldt squid starter was bland. With the green sauce it could have used some acidity to brighten it up. The beans overwhelmed with bland. The little orange dabs should have had some heat. Could not taste garlic. What you read and what you got were not the same. My table mates had the polenta, and the Mediterranean lamb and loved them. Salad was good, dressing was subtle, the focus is on the taste of the vegetables which were good. My table mates had the beef carpaccio, and mussels and loved them. The sea bass was excellent, accompanied by the Lebanese sauvignon blanc which was perfect. The dessert was excellent, except the aperol jello cubes didn't have any aperol taste. Maybe if a pectin was used that could allow the set without sugar, then the aperol flavourful might have come through. The candied lemons on top, however, were insanely good. The panna cotta was excellent. I finished with the cappucinno which was excellent.

My bf and I absolutely love Bow Valley Ranche, the service is outstanding and the food really is magnificent 👌 previously we had brunch there, I had the chicken I can't even describe how wonderful it was the favors, I was not expecting that! Definite must try! And last night was my bf's birthday I made dinner reservations and we had the serf and turf for 2, it is Bison meat that melts in your mouth it's so tender. The seafood selection was an assortment from fish to scallops. The chef gave an on the house dish, I think it was called moose moose it was so delicate and yummy and of course we had the oysters... My favorite part of dinner 😋 plus the wine lol the atmosphere is one of the best experience we've had. Totally worth the cost! It is nice that it is in fish creek because you can walk around afterwards, get ice cream for the earlier dates!

Yesterday was our first time at this restaurant. In the beginning service wasn’t very good, as soon as we sat we were brought waters but we were waiting over 20 minutes without anyone checking on us or taking our drink or food order. We were ready to leave and go somewhere else. Until Dominika stopped at our table, told us we weren’t in her section but she was going to take us over since she noticed our server still hadn’t come. After this, service was amazing!! We are so glad we waited a little longer. The presentation of the food was beautiful and everything was delicious. Dominika went over and above with her customer service! She is an incredible server. We were so happy and satisfied with our lunch. 5/5 would recommend and if you can, request to be in Dominika’s section for great service.

The setting of this restaurant the antique furnishings in a building that has a lot of history was beautiful the area that it's located in is equally beautiful. I have to being greeted by the host we were set at a table in a restaurant that was not busy at all. After ordering a few appetizers it took a while for the server to come to take our order, perhaps she thought we weren't ready even after waiting for 20 minutes for her to come and check. We received the food that we ordered, a horrible mistake was made and that they provided bacon with the steak and eggs my wife and I ordered. My son-in-law and daughter their food came and it was okay. Why two strips of bacon were added between the eggs and the steak, I have no idea considering bacon was not on the description of this meal. They took the two steak and eggs meals and said they would replace them and assured us that the bacon would have not touched either the eggs or the steaks. This took almost 10 minutes for them to replate, our food when it came to us by now was lukewarm at the least. Usually at restaurants, even those that aren't at the caliber of this one, the server usually returns to the table to ask how everything was. This did not happen, sadly after trying to see if somebody would notice us so I could call him to come to have these two orders replaced, nobody seemed to care to look our way. I almost got up with our food to take to somebody to ask them to correct it but then I felt in this type of a restaurant I shouldn't have to do that. So we sat there waiting with two eggs and steak meals. When the waitress finally came she apologized by saying she was busy with another table. Busy for more than 20 minutes?! This is very very sad service. Could this be classified as a color thing we were the only visible minorities in the restaurant. To so as to express their apology they asked us if we would care to have dessert on them, in addition to the drinks being complimentary. We had decided to accept the desserts two of us had, the three coffees and the virgin pina colada were considered to be a token of their apology. Very disappointed in this restaurant, I'm really not sure if we will attend again. I've added photographs of the restaurant because it's the great example of classic architecture combined with a restaurant experience, albeit a very sad one. The photos are not designed to advertise in this restaurant.

The Ranche offers a unique dining experience that never disappoints. Located on the south end of fish creek this early 1900's house is a perfect backdrop for a wonderful dining experience. You can choose from patio seating or inside this beautiful house. The menu typically has unique offerings like bison, hen and other wild meats. The plate arrives displaying your food like a work of art. This is a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended.

Celebrated my sister and brother in laws 25th wedding anniversary tonight in one of the pop up bubbles and an Alice In Wonderland theme. It was absolutely fabulous! Our Waiter was halarious, the decor was fantastic and we added a few touches of our own as well. The food outstanding, the ambience superb and most importantly, the company was the absolute best. If you haven't done this special outing offered until November 2nd, you need to check this out and book an evening. One of the most enjoyable events we have had in a very long time.

Absolutely nailed my micro-wedding this October! My now-husband and I loved the food here whenever we went for our dating anniversaries, so when our wedding plans downsized due to COVID, having our wedding here made perfect sense. The Ranche staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. The bridal "getting ready suite" was adorable, and perfect for my needs. The food was top-notch as always, and with the unexpected fresh snowfall the ambiance was perfect, and better than we could've hoped for. If you're thinking of having a small wedding in Calgary, I would 100% recommend this restaurant!
