Very much recommend a visit. T-Bone, Pork Chop, Oysters, and Prawns in particular were excellent. The sauce on the prawns was exceptional. Nice atmosphere and good cocktails. Used to enjoy Babette on this site so am glad that it has a very worthy local successor!

We had a really nice Sunday lunch to celebrate my friends birthday. And one of the best restaurants I've been in a long time. And nice to not go up into town to have a top meal. We were a group of 6 and had selection of snacks, starters, mains and desserts and it was all top notch. All the flavours were great and very little to fault. Our only criticism was the roast beef pieces were small and thin, so wouldn't say its your typical Sunday roast. Snacks Grilled potatoe flat bread: 5/5 Olives: 4/5 Patron peppers & labneh: 5/5 Spiced biltong: 4/5 Starters Grilled prawns in peri peri sauce: 5/5 Mains: Roast beef with vegetables: 4/5 Dessert: Choux bun with jasmine ice cream: 5/5 Service was immaculate from the moment we got in. Staff were always on hand, very attentive, polite, friendly and catered for the varying diet needs of our table. Despite the ridiculous warm weather and kitchen heat they remained very professional and calm. The venue is an old pub turned into a restaurant and fairly cosy inside, which we enjoyed as it had a warm and classic feel. And the decor and lighting suited the environment. There's street parking in the side road which was handy. Would definitely like to go back as well as try out the other Kudu restaurants if this was anything to go by. Big thank you to the team for hosting us.

So good. Pork was the best pork either of us had ever had, dessert was amazing. Good service. Would recommend for a special occasion - in the top 3 restaurants we’ve been to in London.

I wonder if I should spill the tea, because this restaurant has a quaintness to it, which I hope it will not lose when the public discover it. The service is excellent. Kind, friendly, honest and proud about what they serve. And they should be! The dishes are wonderful, every single one adds joy and is on point. My tips: The grilled potato flat bead, the Kalahari spiced biltong, the sea bass crudo, the harissa tartar and the pork chop monkey gland sauce. Honeslty, every foodie needs to experience this place. As for dessert, they have two options, just get them both. It was a great pleasure to eat here.

Have been here for many times. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in London. I finally tried the Sunday roast. It was super delicious, however I felt the portion of the beef could be more generous as it costed £28 for a plate.

Loved this restaurant. Went with my family for my brothers birthday. The rest of the family eat a lot of meat but I only eat fish. I still loved the options available to me on their menu and they offered to make the sides suitable for my diet so that I could enjoy them too. Would definitely go again. The oysters were some of the best I have ever tasted!!

Really really delicious food. Would recommend the steak as its grilled to perfection. Sat at the counter and loved watching each dish being made. The highlight for me was the staff, the knowledge of each dish was insane and each element was timed to perfection. The also catered to my gluten allergy by offering a different dessert

Just one of the best restaurants that I have been lately. The food is just spot on. It doesn’t just look pretty, it also tastes amazing. As a fine dining lover, I don’t look just for the atmosphere, because I can’t ignore the fact that is a restaurant and not just a bar. One of the best surprises that I had. Left the place very happy and saying “this is my type of restaurant, is covers all fronts”

If you love Kudu, you'll love Kudu grill. In fact I much prefer it as it is more spacious! Food is just as good. Tbone steak for 2, oysters, trout were the winners for us! Great attentive service too!

Old pub turned seminal introduction to - if you've never been to the country - South African cuisine. Does a sharing steak that's good enough by the meat alone, but is differentiated from many equivalents by its sauce. Many of the other dishes were also initially familiar, but made memorable by some unexpected lift in the cooking. Let down by the up-selling to four courses by the staff - you don't need the snacks.

This is a must try restaurant. The food was outstanding as was the vibe and the service. The restaurant is nicely designed with green velvet and rustic features. The staff were attentive and some really knew their stuff and obviously cared about the product they were serving. The star has to be the food though. Incredible plate after plate. It really highlights the cuisine and tastes great with amazing wine choices to go with it.

Must…. Come…. Back Excellent barbecue restaurant where the meat is as delicious as the vegetarian dishes. The menu is small so I hope the chef changes it often. We had the pork chops, and we are coming back one day for the ribs.

Sleek and relaxing decor. Great music. Love the non-alcoholic coolers (look at the colours!). The food is interesting and full of flavours. There’s a bit too much sauce on everything, but that’s probably just personal preference. Look forward to going back and trying other dishes!

Very lovely meal at Kudu last night and the restaurant has definitely tapped into the opportunity in the Nunhead neighbourhood. Food was delicious and enjoyed the t bone the most. It was tender and perfectly seasoned with the grilled onion. Potato breads was good but my heart is always with the kudu bread and it’s lardo butter. We enjoyed the tomato starter and the dish perhaps was less complex than others but packed with umami. We sat by the bar so a bit difficult to share plates. Services were good and lovely to see those familiar faces back at Kudu.

Amazing food, service and ambiance. They let me know before my reservation that I could come earlier if I wanted to which was super helpful. Also, I have a gluten intolerance and the waitress went through the menu with me and let me know what I could have, and what they could substitute. Moreover, the food was incredible! One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Thank you to the staff and chefs for making this such an enjoyable experience.

I stumbled upon this restaurant with zero expectations, thanks to a birthday dinner surprise for a friend. From the outside, it looks like your typical pub, but once you step in, brace yourself for a pleasant surprise – a cosy yet chic atmosphere that's ready to embrace you. The menu's all about sharing, and since we were a small group, we went all out and practically tried their entire menu. Most of the dishes were a hit, with a couple being just great. But on the whole, it turned out to be a fantastic experience.

Decent restaurant in an old Truman's pub on Nunhead Lane not far from Peckham Rye. It sells itself as offering South African dishes mostly cooked over open fire. But on the basis of our visit this has disadvantages in that our two main courses (poussin and monkfish) were both overcooked. Of the starters, the peri peri prawn dish was pretty good but the beef tartare was completely dominated by harissa. Coupled with very loud music this was not a great experience despite the friendly and helpful staff. We'll stick to Kudu's signature restaurant on Queens Road Peckham - which is extremely good - in future.

I had booked this place in advance of a trip to London, and had high expectations based on positive reviews. The food was mostly very good. We especially loved the tartar and the carrots. Two at the table loved the t-bone with another two preferring the Sirloin. Dessert was outstanding! I do think they can improve on their cocktail menu because they had very little to offer there and for non-wine drinkers at our table the options were limited. Overall great food. What let us down was the service, which actually just ruined the experience entirely. We felt everything was rushed, food thrown on the table and messing due to the rush of the waitress. Courses served way too quickly with no time to digest between courses. Manager shouting at the staff in front of everyone, and lastly been very abruptly booted out because our table was reserved for the next round of people, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere during the booking phase. It just left a very bad taste in my mouth and is not the South African hospitality that I’m used to. Lastly, the music was extremely loud which meant that we couldn’t have a decent conversation throughout dinner. I would not go back, which is a shame because the food was great.

Had a great meal. Particularly happy with the prawn starter. Staff also happy to give a leftover steak bone for my dog. And he was happy to be there and be allowed to sit on the seats. They provided a water bowl and a few small bone shaped treats. The potato side come with a fantastically crisp skin.

I would give this place a 6 if I could. I mean it's a very expensive meal, but worth it. We went with friends and were able to pretty much order most dishes on the menu to try. The shrimps were out of this world, oysters were fresh and divine, the sharing steak was delicious and my husband is still talking about the pomme puree with crispy chicken skin. I would happily come back and order exactly the same meal again..

This was a remarkable dinner, I enjoyed every dish - especially the monkfish, fingerling potatoes, prawns & carrots. As you can see it was hard not to photograph everything as each dish was beautiful. It came to around £80 per person with drinks so I'd say definitely one for a special occasion!

Standards seem to be just as high here as at the Kudu restaurant on Queen's Road. Great surroundings, great food and great service. See you again soon. :-)

Superb Sunday lunch!! Bread, salmon, pork chop, milk tart dessert all delicious with some unfamiliar but alluring flavours. Carafe of excellent South African red and friendly service. I look forward to exploring the menu further on my next visit!

Another great addition to the Kudu family! Visited for dinner on opening night and everything was fantastic. The restaurant operations were smooth and faultless. The staff (some recognizable faces from the other restaurants) were lovely and their recommendations were great. The food is EXCELLENT. The mix of influences from South Africa really shine through. From a taste and value for money perspective, I would argue its of the top experiences in London. As two quite hungry diners, we ordered 1 snack, 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 sides and a dessert to share. We left stuffed :) The dry-aged t-bone was absolutely stunning with the fingerlings and the charred gem as perfect accompaniments. Would also highly recommend the harissa tartare for the incredible depth of flavors and the curried crab for a taste of cape malay influences. The kudu team continue to put South African inspired cuisine on the map with incredible food and warm, welcoming hospitality. I can't wait to keep coming back for more. Congratulations and best of luck!

An incredible restaurant. Everything was absolutely delicious. It's expensive but it's definitely worth it, 100% recommend going. The restaurant itself is also really lovely. Make sure you get the beef tartare, it was one of the best things on the menu.

Kudu Grill is a culinary destination worth travelling to Peckham for! The low lit lounge is ambient and cosy while guests are treated to the visual theatre of the open plan kitchen; a well-loved feature we intentionally seek out when going on a culinary adventure. * Droewors - Having tasted Droewors (dried sausage) across London in hopes for it to taste somewhat like the real deal, we ordered the Droewors as a snack with our Sangoma cocktails to begin. If you are as South African foodie like me, this is by far the most authentic tasting Droewors experience you'll find in London - it's homemade accordingly to the waiting staff. * Peri Peri Prawns - Kudu Grill are expert flavouring specialists, their Peri Peri flavours mixed with melted butter over the prawns to start was delicious! Hands down, the ultimate Mozambiquean Peri Peri flavour burst one could find in the city. I was transported right back to the reason I fell in love with prawns in the first place, this flavour exactly! * Dry Aged T-bone Steak - tender, pink sliced and well seasoned beef off the bone served in a jus of shallot gravy was the main feature of our experience at Kudu Grill, braai smoked flavours and the expertly seasoned meat made this a standout dish that must be experienced if you consider yourself to be a meat connoisseur. We paired this dish with triple beef cooked fries, cos lettuce salad and, crispy chicken skin mash potatoes. Sensational, this is a must visit destination for your next weekend roast with friends! * Milk Tart & Peppermint Crisp Dessert - Kudu Grill team have decadently reinvented their own unique take on these South African dessert favourites.WOW! Personally, the Milk Tart wrapped in a soft choux pastry bun served on lavender infused ice cream blew my mind and tastebuds to a new level of milk tart amazing-ness! My partner on the other hand preferred the decadence of the Peppermint Crisp Tart. According to insider information, some of the team members behind Kudu Grill worked at one of The Worlds Top Restaurants (La Colombe, Cape Town) which naturally would make Kudu Grill one of the best kept secrets on London's culinary food map. Loved the experience! Thank you Kudu Grill team :)

Kudu Grill is a must visit. An outstanding menu with South African contemporary influences. The Braai cauliflower with caper raisin, goats curd and kale was a stand out dish and the desserts light and mouth watering! Try the MelkTert choux bun with Jasmin ice cream. Atmosphere is vibrant, highly recommend a visit to this new addition to their Kudu family. Great value for money too, not overly priced at all
