The best british restaurant in Surrey! We usually take four courses, which works out roughly around £50 and for the quality of the food, you almost feel guilty paying that price. Every dish is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Service is impeccable and staff are so friendly and welcoming. The interior is cosy and authentically british (we sat in the marquee, which I thought was the best seat in the house). Its not a pretentious restaurant which I love, but its perfect for a birthday treat, or an reason to celebrate with excellent food! You know how the French don’t think British people can cook? My boyfriend who is French, thinks this the best restaurant he’s ever been too! You will not regret visiting this place.

We really couldn't have been happier with the food, service or surroundings of this little gem of a place. On arrival we were shown to a small marquis beautifully set for us. Unbeknown to our hosts we were a wedding party of six in these unprecedented Covid times and the lovely drapes were coincidentally very appropriate. We enjoyed four very unrushed courses, all delicious and some excellent and reasonable champagne and wine. I would highly recommend this place.

Probably the finest restaurant in town Kinghams offers world class cuisine within a scenic and historical setting. We’ve visited on several special occasions and each time we’ve been given first class service from the point we book until the time we leave. A very romantic and also social spot. Kinghams combines the high quality fine dining experience and sophistication of Londons top restaurants with the warmth of Surrey. Highly recommended

Very pleasant experience considering restrictions. We booked a table outside and we were sat in the back yard, under a marquee. Next time I will request inside as I loved the low ceiling and old fashioned decor. The service was very good and the food excellent. The menu is very short but it provides great choice. We were 4 (2 couples) and we enjoyed the food. The prawns on bisque sauce were so delicious, I need to learn how to prepare that sauce. I followed that with scallop ceviche, it wasn't my favourite as I am used to real South American ones but I still cleared the plate. It was beautifully decorated. And as a main course I had the fillet steak which was cooked perfectly rear. But the tastiest food of them all was the ox cheek croquette that accompanied the fillet steak. That was sensationally tasty. That should be prepared and served in the future as its own main course. The only criticism is that the cheese board was too small to my taste as I love cheese. But there was an extra touch at the very end of the meal..., they prepared one free birthday and a free wedding anniversary treat for my son and his wife. Totally unexpected. The waitress just heard us during the initial toast and the rest is history!

Wonderful experience. Found the venue on a review site. Booked a table, must admit it was 75 minutes drive away, but oh so worth it! Small bread "loaf" cut into four for us. Crumbly and delicious. We deliberately chose different dishes for each of the four courses to try as many dishes as possible. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are hard to identify, though I never thought I would have a liver parfait as good as Hestons, I was wrong. Special mention for the mock cocktails but my goodness the roast potatoes were quite exceptional too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very clean toilet. Met chef at the end of the meal, what a delightful passionate chef. Well worth the trip for some frankly quite exceptional food.

The Kinghams Restaurant is situated in a stunning location in the heart of the Surrey Hills, in the picturesque village of Shere. The food and especially the vegan menu were absolutely exquisite, the staff super friendly, efficient and charming. The Braised lentils with Swiss chard and miso aubergine was delicious, a true Michelin stars experience! This is an outstanding restaurant, providing delightful food, a great service in lovely surroundings that is value for money. Highly recommended!

I don't give 5 stars because nothing is perfect. However, I will give 4.9 stars for the Kinghams restaurant. Amazing experience, excellent friendly professional staff. The food, well food heaven, we had four courses for Sunday lunch split between 2 people so 8 amazing dishes. You can taste every ingredient, flavour excellent. Overall experience the best I've ever had. Thanks to everyone especially the chef.

We had a wonderful lunch sitting on the terrace at Kinghams. It is a very high-quality restaurant in an attractive historic building with friendly staff and a knowledgeable sommelier. A varied and well thought out menu gives you lots of choice. Wine is fairly priced, unlike the plethora of fine dining restaurants who gouge their customer's wallets. Parking is easy and the village is great to visit before or after. The pineapple taste tatin was fabulous. It might seem expensive, but it is worth every penny.

Amazing food in a beautiful setting. The restaurant main building was built in the 17th century, and you can admire its original beauty. The food is delicious! We had the 4 courses menu, and we were both extremely happy with our choices. The service was excellent, fast and professional. All the above for a very reasonable price, £130 without service.

My husband and I went with friends for lunch yesterday. The service and food were excellent and I want to thank Chris and Olivia for making my birthday a special occasion. They were attentive ,friendly, and very efficient. There is one issue that we did not like. The meal did not come with sides, so to speak. The duck breast was lovely, and garnished with a lovely single carrot . Hardly a full meal. So our hosts (who insisted on paying) had to order sides. Excellent food, but I do think the format is off-putting.

I had a pleasure to take photos of lovely small wedding in this place. It's fantastic restaurant with amazing atmosphere for micro wedding. Highly recommended!

A romantic setting with indoor and outdoor tables. Oldy worldly cottage. Sufficient room between tables there is a 4 course menu which we ate comfortably, but you can have just a couple if you wish. Size of portions medium. A good affordable wine list. I drank red it was called ' the wrong un' around £26.00 and very good. Lovely helpful staff in a wonderful setting. There is a small car park or you can park on the road side. You must book its packed!!!

Wonderful food beautifully presented. I had scallops as my main dish and wish I had space for dessert.

The food was exceptional, we had the beef and the asparagus and risotto with a Goats cheese starter. The only reason I haven’t bumped this up to a 5* was purely down to the steak portion size. I do understand quality over quantity and the quality was amazing, however there was two tiny pieces which wasn’t enough for me. It left you wanting for more but for hunger rather than for experience. There’s a fine line between food experience and leaving hungry. Staff and service amazing, huge drinks menu. All in all a really fantastic night. Well worth a visit, the prices were representative of the portion sizes but I would have preferred to have paid more and got a little more.

High end restaurant serving delicious food. My only criticism was that they had an outside area joined to the main restaurant which let a flow of very cold air in at a floor level. Freezing feet!

I visited Kinghams recently with my grandmother for lunch and could not ask for a better experience. The food was outstanding, my favourite was the beef fillet that was cooked to perfection. The setting in a listed building in Shere is picture perfect. Keep up the good work and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Beautiful pub, in a lovely outdoor setting. Perfect for a summers afternoon. As always, I studied the menu before booking. What I failed to realise was the ideal format of the meal at Kinghams is 4 course tasting/grazing. Nevertheless, having stopped by for a light lunch we were able to have 2 courses. I opted for Duck liver parfait with black cherry chutney, Guanaja chocolate and malted brioche – which I truly believe is the BEST parfait I’ve ever had, must try. Followed by the Hake – which was also well cooked. Enough options for veggies and vegans, but not extensive - what we did have was tasty. One tiny comment, perhaps they could make the menus look a little nicer, present with different font and inside a leather holder. It would elevate the overall experience to the level it deserves.

We have been to Kinghams many times and had some of their takeaways during lockdown too. Every meal has been fantastic and so has the service! One of my favourite places to eat out.
