One of my new favorite restaurants in Chicago! The preset menu was the perfect amount of food, and at $40 per person for 5 courses, an absolute steal. My favorite dishes were the eggplant and the pici pasta, but everything was stellar in terms of both flavors and texture. The dessert was elegant in its simplicity and a great note to finish the meal. Our servers were very attentive and the outdoor space was beautiful. Social distancing was easily enforced. I'll definitely be back!

Giant is such a fun time. The restaurant is pretty crowded - they ask for proof of vaccination, but know that others are directly next to you (tables are within inches of each other). The food though makes it worth it - every dish is great. Each dish has a least one thing interesting about it / out of the ordinary. The jalapeno biscuits we both agreed perhaps the best we've ever had - so savory. The vegetables are very fresh and refreshing. Peppers were very rich and savory. The tagliatelle and bucatini were rich, tasty, and had fun textures. I personally thought the gin and tonic could have been a bit more creative like the food, but was still great! The wine list is also very extensive and has $50 range for those looking to not break the bank. Highly recommend for a fun night out.

Tables are uncomfortably close together - not the place if you’re looking for something intimate. Place is loud and it’s hard to hear each other. Service was great, though. For two people we ordered: Jalapeño biscuit Japanese eggplant Onion rings Broccoli Tagliatelle crab pasta All were great, though portions are super small for the price. If you’re trying to get full be prepared to rack up a bill. Our least favorite was crab pasta - it was salty and had little crab in it. The highlight was the dessert, which had chocolate cake, peanut, ice cream, and chocolate syrup. We devoured it.

Some of the dishes were out of this world (highly recommend each person get a trout roe) and other dishes were too salty, which ruined them. Our server was really great but we could see the hostess seating other people and rolling her eyes after turning her back on them. The drink list was great. The space is not size inclusive, the tables are crammed together. I also doubt there is room for differently abled persons to get seated or get through to the bathroom if they used a wheelchair or had other mobility assistance they used. I would go back after a year or two and hope they get rid of the person over salting, the hostess who clearly doesn’t want to be there and they open up the space a bit to be more inclusive. Otherwise, I’d just order the trout roe and cheese blintz to go.

Giant was a really unique experience. The staff were friendly and the service was great. The food was paced well and the flavors were varied and complimentary. The cocktails were tasty, especially the extended stay and the nice chais one. My favorite dish of what we had was the broccoli and the flank steak. The carrots are on the sweeter side as a dish. The flank steak I think was my top pick. My only complaint and why I gave it 4 stars is because the amount of oil in each dish was really heavy for my taste. I think it’s possible to get the same great flavors without my plate swimming in oil. If I could give a 4.5, I’d give that rating.

Amazing food with amazing service. My family and I loved the jalepeno corn bread and tagliatelle the best. Will definitely be back.

Giant is a foodie gem and I cannot believe it took us several years to check it out. They have a cute patio outside where we enjoyed fantastic service and unique food choices. Pastas were rich and tasty. I could not snap pictures fast enough- they were “flying” of the plate.

I've passed by this place so many times and one night when going out for dinner we decided to finally stop in as there was a super convenient parking spot out front and we sure are glad we did! It was phenomenal! Everything we ordered was delicious and the eggplant is a staple. They have many vegetable dishes and all of them that we tried were fantastic. We sat at the bar in the back and wouldn't trade it for a table if we had the option. The staff was super welcoming and answered any and all questions we had. It was like being on a food show, front row seats. Great spot for a date night and we may have found our new favorite spot in logan!

Wow... What a huge disappointment this place was. They have the audacity to squeeze people into such close proximity to each other , "nevermind I thought to myself, maybe the food is great". Another huge disappointment, the main event we were looking forward to, the food. Omg, if you're trying to plate and wannabe fine dining portions for the prices, you better believe that it better taste mind blowing, it was not even average on average restaurant standards. Over salty, not fresh, bad flavours and just bad. People who say this place is good need to adjust their taste buds or they must be still suffering from covid taste loss. Bad, disgusting and so disappointing.

The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was hip. But what got Giant up to. A 5 star rating for me was the food. The dishes here had such a wonderful combination of flavors that I am already looking forward to my next visit to Chicago so that I may eat here again. The chef accommodated my vegan diet with artistry!

A 2022 Bib Gourmand restaurant which was very good. I would rate this a 4.5 stars. I ordered the semi-gnudi which is made with adding ricotta cheese and is lighter than its gnocci cousin. The morel dressing was earthy and the goat cheese sprinkles was salty. The semi-gnudi was pillowy but still had the chew of a gnocci. The basil was crunchy and added extra texture to the dish. Of course the minimalist portions was expected, but I could eat 3 portions!!

Had a date night here with my best friend and LITERALLY had one of the best times. Seating: When you walk in there is a fair sized dining area with ample tables for the size of the place. We were sat at the far end, towards the back of the restaurant. Normally, this would have been bothered me being sat in such a busy part of the restaurant where the staff is coming in and out of the kitchen. HOWEVER, I am one of those people that happens to LOVE bar seating at restaurants. Culture and Ambiance: Bar seating really gives you the opportunity to get to know staff and see the culture of the place. This seating happened to give you a full view of the kitchen. My friend and I got to chat with staff and watch them make our DELICIOUS meals first hand. Overall very chill and rewarding. Side Note: I used to live in the building two doors down. This restaurant used to be a thai place. Getting the know the culture of this place was an important aspect for me. Growing up in this area, you want to get to know the businesses replacing the familiar ones. FOOD and DRINKS: First of all, THAT STEAK! Absolutely cooked to PERFECTION. We ordered some carrots and I was quite taken aback at how much flavor was added to make an already yummy vegetable even more tasty. The fish was one of my favorites paired with mushrooms and thinly sliced potatoes. So GOOD! ORDER THE PASTA! Trust me on this one. The drinks were delicious and strong. Desert was chef's kiss. Not too sweet and overall a good note to end on. All-in-all worth every penny. I will definitely be coming back.

Takeaway: stunning restaurant that really pays attention to the details from the host stand through dessert. Great dining experience that I would definitely come back for. We came in one Saturday night (plans got changed on us) and we decided to give it a shot. Put our names in and the hosts worked it out and we waited across the street at the wine bar. The waitstaff was well-versed in the wine list and even suggested a lower cost option than what we were looking at after we described what we wanted. Each course was delicious and great to be shared among the take of 4.

I did like many of the dishes we had last night at Giant. I did feel like a few were missing a key flavor, like spice or sweet, but overall it was good. The only dishes we weren't as impressed by were pastas. They were still solid, but obviously not as good as the rest of the menu. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area. @dietproof

I don’t have one negative word to say about Giant. The food was delicious, but what really made this such a great experience was the service. The waitress asked if I we had food allergies and I told her I did (legumes) but that I am good about just choosing things that wouldn’t cause me any issues but she and the host staff (likely a manager) took the time to go item by item and give me a visual aid of what would be safe for me to order. Excellence service and food, we will definitely be returning!

We started with the fantastic bite of tempura trout roe. It tasted rich and salty and a bit like buttered popcorn all at once, it was everything a Midwesterner would want. Then we had a vegetal course of the zucchini and broccoli. Although we found the both to be nice the broccoli was a little acidic for my palate but everyone agreed that the zucchini was amazing. Then we had the tagliatelle and the prawns. The tagliatelle was fantastic but only if you like pasta and butter and crab. Following that we had the tri tip steak. This was the big winner of the night, a fantastic steak dish served with a spicy and heabasceous salad as well as a crunch little basket of glutinous rice and earthy mushrooms that complimented the steak perfectly. It was incredibly difficult to get a reservation but I can't wait for my next chance to return to Giant.

What a shame not allowing guests to have their own medical freedom. News flash vaccinated folks can easily contract the virus, spread it, and you have no idea....make everyone take a covid test 48 hours before dinning with you. If you cared about peoples safety actually you should consider this alternative....

Amazing, amazing food in tapas style. Got the broccoli, eggplant, flank steak and pasta. Everything was 11/10. Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely excellent. I wish they offered a bread basket of just the jalapeño biscuits. So good! We had the Japanese eggplant, sortalini pasta, sourdough bread, flank steak and the cookies and cream cake. Every bite was delicious. The seating is very close together, so having a conversation can be a bit challenging. Parking was easy for a Wednesday night.

We have had Giant on our list for awhile (thanks to outstanding meals at chef special cocktail bar). Overall the experience was good but not amazing. We started with the maple butter biscuit and trout. Both of which were excellent and left us waiting to be excited for more. The pastas for us were both lacking the same wow. The tagliatelle was good, but at $36 and a very small amount of crab it missed the mark a bit. It was easy to find the Eastern European influence in the dumplings which reminded me of pelmini or periego, and didn’t really stand out from all the others I’ve eaten. Overall Giant is worth trying, but probably won’t being going down as an all-time favorite. (4.3/5)

Giant is incredible. I happened upon it when another chef recommended it back in 2016. My husband and I had just had our first baby. Giant was our first date night out. It was so spectacular we couldn’t wait to go again. We rotated bringing different groups of friends and everyone loved it. The food isn’t just geared towards foodies and it’s far from basic. The ingredients are familiar but with unique twists and they’re all done to perfection. Over the years the menu has had changes but staples remain the same which is nostalgic for long time patrons like myself. The food, ambiance and service at Giant is exceptional and likely to result in additional visits. I don’t know the owner, but have run into him there several times. His thoughtfulness has contributed to many fond memories over the years. Beyond that, Giant supports local schools and communities as well as other nonprofit organizations. It’s a very special restaurant, I highly recommend it.

My mom book a reservation before we came here. There are a lot of people coming here and sometimes they have no vacant seats already so I need to book a reservation so we have a table to sit in and no problem encountered. We're glad that the waiter and staff are really nice. One of my favorite dishes that they have is their Tri Tip Steak. The steak was cooked near perfect. It has a great seasoning and is flavorful. It's soft to eat and perfect for the side dish of veggies and meat. I like it. We spent 2 hours here before we went home. We had a nice experience here. My family enjoys the food and the service. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Awesome spot! We walk past here a lot and finally took the time to eat here. Reservations fill fast. They also require vaccination cards to enter which helps make the environment much more comfortable! The food was awesome -- our favorites were the steak tri-tip and crab salad. Tons of flavor with each dish. Extensive wine list. Service is great. Plates are smaller and sharable which makes it a great date spot.

Almost 4 stars... The staff and the service were fantastic - 5 stars for sure; however, the food hype is a bit overrated... I expected taste sensations, perfectly blending spices and textures, while instead we basically got either salty or spicy with nothing unusual texture-wise. Though good, and we left satisfied, the price was a bit hard to stomach (ha!), when there are plenty of places nearby where you'll spend less and potentially leave more satisfied... I expected a meal to remember and a place to return to multiple times, but instead got a satisfactory meal that will soon be forgotten.

My partner and I’s first visit to Giant last week was an incredible experience! Their patio makes for the perfect dinner date spot and their service is impeccable. Our server went above and beyond to ensure I was able to try as much of the menu as possible while still following my dietary restrictions and made the necessary substitutions for me without any hesitation. Everything we ordered was super flavorful and unique and our only wish was that we had saved more room for dessert! Also very grateful for their team to be checking vaccination status of guests to ensure a comfortable and safe environment. We will definitely be back (:

We ate at Giant last Tuesday and overall, enjoyed our meal. A few things I wanted to note, it's fairly expensive, our bill was $279 for 2 people, granted, we did try many dishes and had two cocktails each. The restaurant is pretty small (which I love), but the tables are too close together. They have to slide the tables over so you can sit down on the wall side. Everything we ate was above average, but the truffle ravioli type dish was lacking flavor. Drinks are also very expensive, come in tiny coupe glasses, and there are only a few sips per drink. We probably won't return, but glad we had the opportunity to try it out!

Wow 🤩 the eggplant was so delicious! My boyfriend got the steak and I LOVED the vegetables it came with. Definitely a good place for a date night. The tables though, are soooo close together 🥲 I couldn’t squeeze in.

We thoroughly enjoyed Giant! The food was very good and the service was excellent. The tables are very cozy to each other but I do understand that they need to maximize their available table space. The peppers with tomato anchovy bread was the surprise best bite of the night. We also had the carrots, bucatini, sourdough, and pork -- all lovely!

I've been coming to Giant for 3 years, and it is always slapping. The crab pasta is something that should be on your table.

I must say that making a reservation first is a must at this restaurant. The restaurant is small, and the last time we went here it was really crowded. The atmosphere and vibe are nice, as is the customer service. The server at our table was accommodating and attentive. We did not really ask much of him because everything on our table was fine and settled. Everything is also fine when we are waiting for our food, until suddenly music is played and it is so loud that we have to move closer just to understand what we were saying. The restaurant was full and the loud music was the main reason why we could not understand what each other was saying to each other. The service is quick, and the food that we ordered looks really nice when it comes to presentation. The food is delicious, and the food that they have is definitely not the ones with a large portion, because the food only has an adequate portion and the flavor was really delicious. Everything is really delicious. The price is also expensive. It is a good thing that we only ordered enough food, which is why we did not pay much more than we expected. The food and the service are amazing. However, if you also want to eat here, I suggest looking at their prices carefully.

Great service from Mike. We order carrots, eggplant, tagliatelle, and crepe cake. The eggplant is great, the carrot is decent, but the tagliatelle is incredibly salty and the crepe cake is quite sweet(it has a really good crunch though.) The tagliatelle is really a let down. What’s worse is there no price on the website menu so we use Google review which says the tagliatelle is $22 when it is in fact $28. Food texture is on point, flavor is hit or miss.

Food was great, each dish was interesting and easy to share among 4 people. Would definitely recommend the crab salad and Japanese eggplant! Good pacing and service, would definitely recommend for a night out!

  • 3/5 Siu H. 1 year ago on Google
Ordered the broccoli, tagliatelle, scallops, and flank steak. Every single dish was overly salty and had no other flavors. No wow factor at all. Not sure what the hype is. The most enjoyable part of the meal was listening to why the girl in the table next to us got upset at the guy she was there with. The host and servers were welcoming. The environment was decent.

  • 3/5 Laura L. 2 years ago on Google
It’s true, the food is great as well, the servers, lovely. But the policy of 1 1/2 hours per table makes one feel that they are on an invisible conveyor belt. Gone are the days of lingering and relaxed conviviality. It’s a show and a good one but miss the breathe of genuine dining and conviviality

  • 5/5 Karen C. 1 year ago on Google
This is a Gem outside of the downtown area of Chicago!! Booked here based on reviews and it fantastic! Highly recommend the scallops, steak, and pasta! I tried to get pictures, but the food went quick!! Service was great and very accommodating. Loved this part of the city as well! This is a must try if you’re looking for something delicious and not part of the bustle of downtown.

Wow! We are Chicago kids born and raised and it has took us a very very long time to get to Giant (something both of us have been ashamed of for years)! Thank goodness it has survived pandemic times and remains a staple to our city. Every recommendation, high hope, expectation etc was met last night! An incredible experience. Although the space is tight, the atmosphere is still comfy and relaxed. The wait staff was incredible. And the food, mmmm the food! Everything was coming out better than the last. The only dish that neither of us really cared for was the semi gnudi - the flavors didn’t wow as much as the other dishes. But everything else had to be added to our “when we return, get again” list. Also the mezcal cocktail was Devine but beware of the kick - 1 sip only to avoid coughs haha. My fave dish: carrots His fave dish: Tomatoes Don’t pass up: the biscuit 🤤

GIANT runs on all cylinders! Each plate can be shared by four people and the server recommended a total of eight selections which included starters to entrees. The server was just great! Overall an amazing experience. They also have a back patio. We will return. Thanks for a super evening.

  • 4/5 Lalida A. 1 year ago on Google
Food was good and very flavorful. Tables were very very close to one another (I noticed this on the left side of the resto when you walk in), approximately 10 inches apart, so can be uncomfortable for some. Getting in and out of the seat, if you're sitting on the inside, is super awkward as the tables around you need to move to accommodate. The thing is, food was delicious and the ice cream dessert was such a good ending. So overall 4/5.

  • 4/5 Emiliano R. 1 year ago on Google
Between the food service, and drinks the experience was amazing! Highly recommend the onion rings, I wasn’t really feeling the cocktails they offered but wine list is really good, and they were able to do some classic cocktails which really made up for it. I only liked the camera ice cream (I tried all 3 deserts) the others didn’t have a lot of flavor of texture was too dry to eat. Overall a pretty good experience and I’ll definitely be comeback back.

Would give Giant a 4.5 stars. I loved the food. Everything we ate was delicious but the tables are crazy close together even for non COVID times.

Giant is a cozy and vibrant restaurant with a down-to-earth staff. The server suggested us to order 2-3 plates per person. We got (1)Japanese eggplant (2)Onion rings (3)Scallops (4)Tagliatelle (5)Swordfish. Rating 1>2>5>3=4 1) Japanese eggplant is a must-get from here. The eggplant taste like meat and the pancakes that come out with it is on point. 2) Onion rings - crunchy and the sauce is tangy. 3) Scallops were bitter for my taste. 4) Tagliatelle were overly salty for my taste. 5) Swordfish - the olive oil and the vegetables were fresh and complimented the swordfish well. The tables were really close to one another and slightly claustrophobic. For two people, we spent about $130(excluding tips). I’m from the south so I crave sweet tea when I eat. The server made sweet tea for me (tea, lemon and simple syrup), and it was so sweet.
