This place is so cute! Off the beaten path just enough to be a scenic drive. The animals look well kept and happy. And of course feeding the giraffes was my two littles favorite. FYI - they like the leaves better than the carrots. They have plenty of statues for photos ops if you like, a couple of playgrounds, a train, and a concession stand. The store has plenty of things to buy if you want to purchase some memorabilia too.

Giraffes, Camels, and Kangaroos, oh what a perfect day at the Zoo! Absolutely enjoy going to see the animals here. I'd highly recommend Boulder Ridge as a place to take your little ones. Very clean, animals are well kept, it's a family run Zoo and you can tell the pride they take in it. They offer several interactive experiences feeding the animals. Lettuce and carrot cups for sale to feed many species. There's a concession stand offering everything from pretzels & pizza to dipping dots & hot dogs. (Prices are very reasonable) It appears they are continuously improving; adding new exhibits and walkways. Take the day to go explore, you won't forget it!

Boulder Ridge is a great experience. As an outdoor park it has great variety and an amazing number of beautiful and interesting animals. They seem to be well cared for and content and it’s a great way for kids to see and learn about animals up close. It’s very walkable with a nice layout and great spots for lunch or snacks. Park staff were helpful and friendly, willing to answer any questions and provide information as requested. Minus one star for some disorganized chaos at one part that seemed to stress out the animals. Mostly well maintained but could use some crowd management at times.

Super fun family friendly experience! Boulder Ridge Animal Park has many endangered animals from reptiles, birds and mammals and is packed full of new surprises around every corner. Kids loved feeding the giraffes and especially going inside the parakeet exhibit. The safari ride was a pleasant addition and completed the fun!

Hands down the best mid-size animal park I've been to. A hidden gem in West-Michigan near Grand Rapids. New exhibits, lots of baby animals, the very best prairie dog exhibit I've ever seen anywhere, animals so close you can literally touch and feed many of them. There are a lot of gorgeous birds here too from all over the world. Several albino animals. Simply wow.

This zoo has a lot to offer however some of the enclosures are nice but others are small, if they're going to be small enclosures, they NEED enrichment, hideouts, etc. Some of the animals didn't even have grass or any nature. It's disappointing to see the otters in a small cage and have the smallest pool I've ever seen. Flamingos didn't even have a body of water (though it's possible their water is in their inside section). I don't think this zoo is bad and I can tell the animals are being cared for, but they need major upgrades to their enclosures. Even just some more logs or literally ANYTHING. Secondly, I came for baby animal day.. lots of baby animals but crammed into the smallest pens I have ever seen. I get they are only in there during the baby animal day and while they're open.. but come on, 3 baby kangaroos crammed into one pen that should fit maybe 1. It was hard to enjoy myself when I saw a lot of animals that re

This is definitely different from a normal zoo, but it's awesome. It's totally worth it. The animals are super close. They let you feed some of the animals, including the giraffes! We spent a good hour and a half to two hours there. Not a lot of shade, but not a lot they can do about it, just being lots of sun block. Lots of parking! Definitely worth going!

We come here quite often and each time is enjoyable. They do a great job of hosting a variety of special events during the year. Like baby animal days- LOVE. We enjoy the up close ability to see wildlife and feed several of their animals.

This is more clean than your local zoo… This park is phenomenal! Animals are in good spirits and well taken care of. Beautiful playgrounds for kids to play on. There is fair pricing on the food, snacks and gift shop items. Staff is very friendly and it was an overall enjoyable experience.

Nice Zoo for the price. Kids will like feeding the animals. Can even feed the alligators and giraffes. The safari ride is included. Food is reasonably priced. Gift shop has a good variety. Overall a great way to spend some time with the kids and grandchildren.

Great place to bring your grandchildren! Love the layout, very kid friendly zoo. Wide variety wild life. We love the bus safari tour, the animal feeding, especially the giraffes, camels, llamas, and goats. Easy walking zoo with outdoor covered eating area. Simple menu, aimed more for kids, but for adults too! Will come back. Gift shop not full of cheap gifts, but quality stuff. Rest rooms clean and plentiful.

This is a nice zoo. They are adding on also No safari anymore, they made the road into a nice walking trail so you walk to see the animals. Feeding the giraffes was great. They also have nice concession stand with a variety of food choices at a decent price or you can bring in a picnic lunch. Overall a very zoo.

The price of admission was very reasonable. We were able to feed the animals without it costing outrageous prices and wasn't just for VIP anyone can feed the animals. A cup of carrot sticks or lettuce leaves was $5. I bought 2 of each and split them between 4 kiddos. It worked out so great! The animals seemed well taken care of and happy. There is a free Safari ride that is included in the price of admission. The safari ride was very informative about each animal we saw. And it wasn't too long that it became boring or kids lost interest. There was so much to see. I recommend going!

Honestly cannot say how grateful I am enough for Boulder ridge. I've been able to cuddle some cute animals that are clearly treated very well or else they wouldn't be so warm with new visitors. The fact that I can lay down next to/on a tapir who just met me minutes before and he loves it and shows no sign of hesitation is phenomenal. Each time I learn more about the animals and what they do to rehab them. They are a truly great business.

Smaller, beautiful animal park. Highly recommend! Lots of beautiful animals, and you can get up close to them. Nice and clean plus beautiful flowers. Nice places to eat or bring your own lunch.

Highly recommend this zoo over the bigger zoos! Everything is so much more personable and memorable. We bought an animal encounter and I am so thrilled we did! From the kind, knowledgeable, and attentive staff, the amazing animals, this is definitely much more than we expected! These staff care about the animals and I can not wait to go back this summer!

Nice easy to navigate animal park. We went for a school field trip like most of the other l schools. They have a hippo, reptiles, birds and lots of mammals. No big jungle cats. My favorites are the Lemurs. This was our 2nd time going and we will be going again. :)

This place is a must visit. My 3 year old son had the best time! It was so cool to be able to pet and feed such a wide variety of animals. Feeding the giraffe was my son's favorite part. It was really awesome getting to stand so close to one. The parakeet area was also very cool.

Absolutely one of the coolest places in Michigan. It's so much different than your average zoo. This is a fantastic experience for the whole family but especially the kids will love how close they can get to the animals and how many of them they can feed and pet. Make a point to get to Boulder Ridge!

I didn't know this place even existed but I'm Sooo happy that I found it!! It's a Great place for the kiddos! We had fun feeding the animals and mining for minerals in the gold rush river. The safari bus ride was both informative and fun. Almost the entire park is outside but there are these awesome fans that spray cool water placed throughout. It was Definitely worth the drive and I'll be going again before the season is over🥰😊.

What an awesome park! So many animals and you can get so close and feed some of them. Very clean and well organized. The enclosures and animal areas are very top notch. What a great day! Took grandkids and hubby absolutely loved it! Blows away John Ball Zoo. Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park is a definite must visit.

I can't believe it took this long to find out about this place. I have lived in Grand Rapids for the last 10 years and have only recently heard about this awesome zoo in the last week. It's only a 30 minute drive from Grand Rapids and it is worth the trip every time. The facility is clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The animals are well taken care of. The sponsorship for each animal enclosure is shown proudly. So nice to see a zoo that really isn't a zoo. All of the animals were energetic and very happy. I'll definitely come back at least four times a year.

This animal park is a can't miss destination for the entire family. Be sure to plan an entire day as it will take 3-4 hours to get through the park. They have excellent ADA accommodations and all the walkways are paved. This is a well run family owned animal park that is a great place for the entire family.

We absolutely love this zoo. I’ve been taking my daughter since she was 1. There is a wild variety of animals and lots of fun stuff for kids to do. 2 playgrounds, train rides, you can feed the animals and there’s mining.

This zoo was so much fun. We went on the weekend and were able to see the Alligators being fed. I wish I would have known how much stuff was cash only. I do not carry cash usually. They have an ATM but it would have been nice to know in advance.

A-Mazing!! We loved this place! Beautiful animals, my 3 year old granddaughter can't wait to go back! Very easy to get to and prices aren't terrible! It was princess and superhero day and it was great!

Boulder ridge is such a unique little hidden gem!! Located in the middle of actual nowhere, driving through the corn and then BAM a zoo. This zoo has SO much to offer, I can’t even begin to list. Our favorites there were the hippos, rhinos, talking parrots, giraffes and mining for crystals! Everything is very close together which makes this perfect for letting your toddler run a bit. They have the option to bring your own food and picnic on their grounds, or eat at their phenomenal concession stand. Extremely clean bathrooms and facilities in general. AMAZING. amazing zoo. Cannot stress enough. we love it!

Man what a fun place. Tucked in out of the way, smaller park. The claim to Fame is being able to get so close and feed so many wonderful animals. If it eats lettuce or carrots you can get pretty up close.

Was really fun, loved the food & seeing all the types of animals there. The last photo of the baby alligator on the turtles my favorite 🤩

This place is so cool! Even if you don’t have kids it’s still really cool to see all the different animals. I loved the prairie dogs and I got to feed a giraffe. Would go again.

I had not been to this park for several years and went back on 4th of July weekend. It's grown tremendously since we last visited and had a lot more to offer. Was supposed to be a trip for the younger ones we took to enjoy but I think my girlfriend and I enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would and would go even if it was just the two of us. Highly recommend visiting if its been a while and support this business as its clear they take good care of their animals.

My grandson and I really enjoyed our visit. We spent almost 4 hours exploring all the beautifully cared for animals! I was impressed with the impeccable cleanliness of the grounds, but I had to laugh when my grandson felt he needed to inform an employee that he spotted a grammatical error on one of the exhibit signs. If we lived closer, this would be a place I would consider buying a season pass.

This place is one of the best hidden gems in Michigan!! My family loves this place. They sell fresh veggies so you can feed the animals!! And bird seed to feed the parakeets. The park is super clean.

Took my girls here today and it is always a great experience. Not like a zoo, it is a bit more personal to interact with the animals. The staff was friendly, the activities were fun and my girls had a great time! Highly recommend, lucky to have this park in our area…

Our son had a blast! Giraffe feeding, a nice playground, and a wide assortment of animals made this a really special visit.

My kids loved this place. The walking "trails" to see the other animals was amazing, it wore my children out and they absolutely loved it. Playground was a huge plus, I just wish the alligator feeder gave you more food. The giraffes were a huge hit among the kids but the real winners were the prairie dogs.

  • 4/5 Dawn M D. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of animals. Clean and friendly. Absolutely loved the walkway. It was so peaceful. Feeding the giraffes and camels was fun. Tell the camel how pretty she is really calm and she will let you pet her. The alligators were active. The birds are beautiful.

Well folks...we packed up the twins and headed to Alto Michigan. Alto Michigan? What the heck is in Alto Michigan? This most AWESOME place! Let me tell you..."Boulder Ridge Wild Animal Park has it going on!" What a clean, lovely animal refuge. Hats off to all the marvelous workers at this park that care so much about their animals! Here you can feed giraffes, take an open bus safari ride and view their African graze animals, watch their kangaroos bounce around and let their hundreds of canaries land on your head. Do not miss a stop here on your next summer visit to Michigan.
