My family and I went yesterday to celebrate a birthday and for a trip down memory lane. It was a great time overall. We were lucky to get there early and have a great view of the lions and chimps. The zoo staff was friendly and engaging. Good trip all around. Work of warning that the zoo has had to move many of the birds as a precaution against the recent outbreak of bird flue. Keep that in mind and check the website for updates if you are looking to see birds like penguins on your trip.

This is a really nice zoo that I definitely want to come back. When you first walk in you see the old enclosures for animals back when the zoo first opened obviously the enclosures then were far too small and they kind of talk about that with the signs but it was still really interesting to see the zoo from the past they have a lot of really cool animals there the golden frogs were probably my favorite the penguins get fed at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. definitely recommend seeing that if you make it in time. Overall it's one of the best disease I've ever been to definitely recommend to people 🀠

We had a fun time, a quick trip so we didn't see the whole zoo but we will be back. Watching the chimpanzees interact and the baby playing was super cute. I really liked seeing the historic section, the Victorian style cages were interesting and a reminder how far things have come from keeping animals for pure show to the masses with no space or enrichment to today where showing them is important, but their lives and well being is also very important. We even got to see the bears playing with a treat stuffed ball and the lemurs getting treats today. Also I love how much art the zoo has, in particular the Bart Walter bronzes having met him in my youth its always lovely to see his work. Overall I like the Maryland Zoo and will definitely be back.

The first 20 minutes is just walking through looking at "historic" empty cages. Zoo is very small. Staff is nice. Not worth $27 .

I would highly recommend coming to this zoo, if you are passing through or if you live nearby. The zoo is not good a lot of advertisement, but it is such an amazing experience! They have a large ray of animals, and it is such a great learning experience for people of all ages. They even have penguins here that you can learn about at the penguin exhibit. It does not cost very much for a day pass, and there is lots to do within the zoo. Take your kids here, take your grandparents here… It’s genuinely a good experience for everyone.

The third oldest zoo in America and I just learned about it last week! Luckily, my family and I (wife and 4 kids ranging from 5 months to 8 years old) already had a mini vacation planned to the area so we decided to take a look. The Maryland Zoo is kind of tucked away in a larger park in Baltimore but when we arrived there seemed to be a lot of others arriving for the day. For being an older zoo, the animals have relatively large exhibits which I appreciated and it seemed like there must have been a recent push to bring the zoo to a more modern style as the enclosures seemed in good condition and reasonably new. Unlike the Philly Zoo (the nation's oldest and the local zoo for my family; we are members) where it feels like you can always see an animal from where you are to maximize the limited space: the Maryland Zoo opts for fewer species with more natural looking habitats and a more leisurely stroll around the park. There were definitely pros and cons to this approach. The biggest win for the Maryland Zoo over most zoos that I've been to would have to be the enclosures. They felt new and state of the art, especially for the elephants and giraffes, offered good lines of sight to most of the area or extra vantage points, and the animals moved around the enclosures in a way that looked comfortable as opposed to the classic pacing back and forth. The disadvantage is the distance between habitats could occasionally be rather far, especially from the front gates to the bulk of the animal habitats: I think it might have been a half mile walk uphill, which is kind of the last thing one wants when you've been walking around in the summer heat for 4 hours and just want to get back to the car. Additionally, there were several misprinted signs around the park that had incorrect information about a species: sometimes contradicting an earlier statement on the same sign. All in all, it was a great time. We make a trip down from South Jersey to the Baltimore/DC area most years to go to the National Aquarium and National Zoo/Smithsonian and this will have to be added to the rotation for future years. Some exploration of the encompassing Druid Hill Park seems to be in order as well but we were too exhausted from our weekend to really do any.

I'm an employee here and a Baltimore native. I've been to the zoo as a kid and a few times as an adult. Everyday we are making improvements on how to educate the public about the animals here and around the world. We greatly appreciate suggestions as to how we operate and work . So please feel free to come and visit our zoo. Thank you

Came Friday before Easter and the line to enter was insanely long but expected it to be. Compared to the national zoo in DC this zoo is so much better, cleaner and has more to see. Unfortunately no penguins and no access to the aviarys due to the avian flu outbreak but you can see some birds from a distance like the bald eagle. Masks are required to enter the chimp forest exhibit. I personally enjoyed the goat corral as you can pet and brush the goats. Overall a great experience.

We enjoyed the Zoo. A few exhibits were missing animals but for the most part we saw a lot. I agree with everyone who says the enclosures are pretty far apart. There was quite a bit of walking and we were happy to have strollers for our toddlers. Also the dinosaurs were a big hit for our toddlers. My son has been talking about them more than the living animals we saw. As an adult I would have liked to see more of a narrative throughout the exhibit but for the little guys it was definitely worth the extra $6.

I started out taking my children to this zoo 27 years ago and now I am able to take my grandson. The zoo was large enough for great amount of exercise with lots of asphalt as well as grass areas for walking and stroller pushing. The animals look like they are taken care of and they have plenty to see but not nearly as many as the DC Zoo. The price to get in wasn't horrible and they have a membership plan. Overall , nice zoo

Great staff very friendly and helpful. Walkways were clean and well kept. Great food and slushies. Really love the variety of animals plenty of wildlife to see. The views they have of the animals are breathtaking, very photography friendly. Restrooms are not to far from each other wich is convenient. Hand wash stations for the kids and adults threw out the park to slow the spread . The staff kept safe by properly wearing there face mask and social distancing. Over all a great place for whole family or just a date day to get out of the house and help treat cabin fever. Definitely a five star place 😁.

This is a wonderful place for families with children to come and see the animals. They have fewer animals on display. Unfortunately couldn't see many of them . They have good facilities for the elderly who are unable to walk. They can use the carts or the toy train to move around. Mask is compulsory especially when you go inside the chimpanzee enclosure. I really wish they had more animals to see. One good thing is the enclosures are made in such a way that the animals feel it's like their natural habitat.

EDIT Feb 2024 (5yrs later) We are still members and come to the Zoo whenever we can. It has been quite a while since our last visit, but we have got to say that we are SO IMPRESSED with the new Handicapped Parking area at the entrance to the Zoo! Wow! What a great surprise. There is so much more room, more spaces and easier to actually park. The new sidewalks and everything are a welcome change! Now, if we could keep the geese away!! You know what I mean! We are looking forward to the coming changes inside the Zoo as well!! (Added a few new pics, too, including the new otter!) Awesome zoo! Awesome family experiences! We love this zoo! We have been members for many years. We are so looking forward to the new lion/elephant/giraffe areas. We like that it is open year-round. The exhibits are great and seem to be always improving. The dining options are fairly decent. The rides are a bit steep, I think, but the kids like them. The Penguin Encounter (extra fee) was also great fun. It was cool to learn so much about the colony and the Zoo's efforts in this area.

One of the best Zoo I’ve ever been! Looks like animals are being taking care of, very clean and they look good. It’s totally for free! We only paid the train ride and I will recommend it if you wanna see the whole place! It’s huge! Staff is super friendly and nice! 100% recommended if you are in St Louis!

We went on a weekday and we practically had the zoo to ourselves. Animals are well cared for and we had a BLAST! The train and carousel were a big hit with our kiddos. We also got to see the dinosaur exhibit. The tree slide was super fun and we really enjoyed all the extra exhibits INSIDE the tree. We also fed the Giraffes. And my daughter was so excited to finally see real live "mingos" (flamingos). Can't wait to go back!!!!

I visited with my wife and kids on a weekday April first week this year. Zoo opens at 10, and we reached by 10.20, by then it was crowded already. There was a big line for entry ticket check. We had booked tickets online, so it was a less than 10 min wait to enter. Kids had a lot of fun in the tree slide, farm animal area and of course watching animals. We saw most of the animals. Couldn't get a sight of polar bear and zebra though. Zoo has pretty good food options inside. There is a fun train ride as well, but unfortunately that stopped working when we reached to board the train.. that was a heartbreak for my kids.. We took 4 hours to cover with lunch inside the zoo

Great family fun! The animals seem well cared for. The staff was very helpful and the restroom was clean. All the exhibits are accessible by stroller or wheelchair. There is a large hill you walk down when entering the zoo and after a full day of walking will need to walk back up to exit the park.

I love the layout of the zoo with plenty of benches and shade. It wasn't too crowded and the exhibits were fun for the kids, especially the goat petting zoo and tunnels/slides. I would come again with the kids.

Great experience overall! We took out two kids and they thoroughly enjoyed visiting. They have a great variety of animal most of which you can get great views of. The zoo is large enough, but not so large that you feel rushed to try to see everything.

It had been years since a zoo visit, and it’s awesome to see all of the renovations and changes that have taken place. Zoo volunteers were well-spaced, friendly and helpful. Though we are local, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore remains one of our favorites in the country!

We have been this zoo multiple times. Its really a great place to go with kids and friends. Lot of wild , african animals, birds , farm animals as well. Train ride was not that worth. We saw giraffe so many snakes , lion hippo, zebra, gorilla , polar bear elephant. It has been an awesome amazing experience . Its now under construction so you need to walk from entrance to the actual animals areas. However its good . Need to plan for 3-4 hrs to cover everything atleast. Food is available inside .

Enjoyable and Educational visit to the Maryland Zoo! The animals and the habitats were very well cared for and HEALTHY. We appreciated that the zoo keepers were very knowledgeable and very interactive with our field trip group. Beautifully laid out pathways, restrooms and mapping. It was a delight to see a variety of animal species and to learn about conservation efforts too.

A little disappointing. Most of the exhibits were closed. We saw most of the animals in the African exhibit. In total we saw about 12 different animals. Not worth the $100 I spent on a family of 4 to get in. On the brighter side, it was a gorgeous day to be out making memories with family and getting exercise.

Took about a half mile of walking from the entrance to get through the old empty historic exhibits to the areas with actual animals. It's a small zoo but the animals seem well cared for.

Safe. Hand sanitizing stations available. Masks are also required at certain sections but recommended throughout the zoo. Entry is blocked out to tickets so limited number of people at the zoo at any given time. I recommend your purchase your tickets early online and make it there within the 30 minutes allotted. Have fun.

In winter and covid-19, it's is just a rip-off to visit that place. Not a good time to visit right now, half of the animals and the exhibits are missing or closed. It's open right now for short period of time and short duration and less days in the week but they should let people visit for free since they don't have much to show in the zoo. Be ready for a big disappointment if you visit right now.

Very nice zoo, many good exhibits. Unfortunately we were unable to see some of the animals as it is winter. The zoo itself is free and if you get there early you can park on the streets around the zoo, otherwise parking is $10 in the lot. Staff was friendly and helpful. Favorite part was the penguin exhibit, you are allowed to get very close and they are just too cute!

The St Louis zoo is truly one of the treasures of St. Louis! It is a world-class zoological facility and it is FREE to enter! I feel that there are good variety of animals available to see there, and I like how the exhibits are set up. The Rivers Edge is especially awesome but the seal and sea lion exhibit in the bear habitats are also awesome. The zoo also has an amazing antique carousel and the zoo line railroad which is a favorite of every kid who rides the rails. A St. Louis must do activity for sure!

The St. Louis Zoo is amazing. It's free to see and you can park along the streets and walk a little, for free or pay $10 for parking which gets you right in front of the doors. They have a nice variety of habitats and animals. I was so excited when they brought in the polar bear years ago. The zoo is clean, and have little gift shops when you exit every exhibit. Tons of food and drink carts spread out around the zoo. As well as dining options. (Most of these are closed due to the pandemic, and usually have maps but they were gone too). Still enjoy every single time I come. We bought the reusable cups, which you can bring back to your visits and pay just the refill charge. You can also spend $10 or $15 for an arm band that gets you on the train, and merry-go-round, and some simulators. The animals are so cute and they have plenty of space. I'd always recommend this zoo.

A really great zoo that is well kept. New construction is currently going on for the monkey. Covid has closed down a lot of the vendors but there is food and drinks available throughout the park. As you can see from the photos there are a lot of animals to see. Updates are happening in some of the enclosures but remember to wear good walking shoes.

There was a lot of stuff that was closed off. It was in the single digits outside and we didn't see more than 20 people there the whole time. We were standing completely alone, outside, facing the corner at one exhibit and our masks were below our nose, a worker came and peered around us just to tell us we needed to pull up our masks. Only reason it has two stars instead of one is because of the monkey exhibit.

Small, but extensive, meaning it maybe small but it's a zoo and there are plenty to see and do. There's even a tree with slides, if you & the kids want to take a break from the animals, there are also labeled quiet areas you can sit in various spots and enjoy the animals, unfortunately the humans do chat a lot. There are a lot of volunteers who provide background info, loved the story behind the sister bear cubs. Gift shop, various snack and human feeding stations, seating around the zoo is also plenty.

I hadn't been to a zoo since I was a child but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was disappointed, though, that more animals weren't on display. Most of the places to grab a snack or drink were closed although we managed to find one. Their prices were ridiculous! $5 for a bottle of water so make sure you bring your own. All that aside, I had a good time.

I was on the fence about getting a membership here, especially with the free Smithsonian zoo just a hop, skip, and a jump away, but I'm glad I did. Turns out it's a shorter walk, with more shade, and less crowds. They even have different animals. It's nice having options when your kids are going through an animal obsession phase..

We had an awesome time and the staff was really great! Due to the very cold temps, limited animals were out but since hardly any of the public was there, we could easily see the animals and there seemed to be more interactions with them. When we walked up, animals would come over by us, and we got to hear several of them "talk". We also did the Penguin Encounter, which was a bit expensive to include all 4 of us, but honestly worth every penny. To be right next to them and pet them was amazing! We spent all day at the zoo, right up until closing. A great family outing!

Staff are super friendly, there's a lot of walking, but that's kind of a given with any zoo. Stroller rentals are available, $9 for a double (suggest bringing your own). Member pass is well worth it, and member mornings allow you to ride the train/merry-go-round for free for the first hour. Bring your own lunch/snacks as food is crazy expensive. Lots of good seating for picnics and there's a nice playground too.

This was my first experience and it was enjoyable. Disappointed some exhibits down due to the bird flu, but it's better for the animals to be safe. It's a lot of walking, but very relaxing. It's large enough to not feel overcrowded even if the parking lot is full. Staff is very friendly, even when they are walking by on the walkway. Will definitely return when the penguins are out!

Great zoo for families! All of the zoo keepers and volunteers we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable. In addition to viewing a variety of animals, we were pleasantly surprised to discovered that spread throughout the zoo there were several hands on educational activities for kids. My child also really enjoyed the "goat corral" area where you can get up close to goats and are allowed to pet/brush them. The slides and play areas within the zoo were also a big hit. Although they have shuttles that will bring you back to the entrance, I highly recommend bringing a stroller* if you have a little one as you can do a lot of walking (we walked about 5 miles over the course of the day). Food looked to be more or less typical amusement park food (chicken tenders, fries, tots, burgers, etc) but they do allow you to bring in your own food and there are several shaded areas with tables to choose from to take a break and refuel. For $8/person you can get an unlimited ride wristband for their train ride and merry-go-round, which I thought was reasonable since it was $4/ticket otherwise and most kids will want to ride the carousel more than once. Over all, we really enjoyed our time at the Maryland Zoo and will be planning a return visit 😊 * If you forget to bring one, I believe strollers were also available to rent near the gift shop

This is a great little zoo! The enclosures are all very nice and getting to play with the goats was a highlight. It was also great that they seem to have all the animals the National Zoo in DC is missing, so you can go to both and it not be repetitive! The giraffes and penguins were very cool. The otters were so fun to watch. Next time I would definitely do one of the animal encounters. The food was actually really good (although expensive which you expect) unlike the national zoo. The train and carousel were also big hits. I loved that they had playgrounds mixed in too! While it didn’t have as many animals as the National Zoo, it’s also not nearly as crowded. So for now I think I prefer this one.

Great time today though we did wind up a bit soggy. In the twilight of my life but you are never too old to enjoy a good zoo. Plenty of animals to see in various sections. Love seeing the joy this brings to the little ones. I was lucky enough to experience the otter training with my newly adopted son Hudson.

It was good. Niece wishes there were foxes and wolves. The historical older cages weren't all that appealing and there was a snow owl that arguably was not in a correct habitat and just had a fan to keep it cool. It was not ideal that we had to pay to ride the train when we paid admission for the zoo. Also no military discount at entrance, must go through base services.

We stopped at this zoo on our way home from the new Great Wolf Lodge. It was a little bit pricey but not outrageous. They're having construction on the parking lot so you have to use a back entrance and the "parking" there was not great. We had to park in the grass along the street, which some of it is on a fairly steep side slope. We went on a Friday, and there wasn't a ton of availability, so I can't imagine a weekend day. But once their parking is finished, that wouldn't be an issue. The park itself was pretty clean and well kept. There were tons of staff members all over to offer help or give more information on the animals. We had a wonderful talk with a woman near the elephants, and she knew so much about their animals and was just very kind. Another woman had a table set up with a little info game that was probably a little advanced for my 4 yo, but she was very patient and explained all the info clearly. The exhibits weren't super spread out, so you weren't trekking crazy far to see everything, but it was a nice walk. I also liked that there are a few "play areas" throughout for littles to get some energy out. My daughter loved the cave exhibits! We didn't partake in any of the extras or dining. It's really nice that they allow outside food so we just packed some sandwiches and ate at the tables. There's also a bunch of water bottle refill stations. We also needed to rent a stroller as we hadn't brought ours and it was only $6 for the day and the stroller was really nice and wheeled easily. Overall a great visit!

So let’s me get the not so great out of the way so I can explain 5 ⭐️ star rating… The parking is a mess, trashed, they’re fixing it but it doesn’t make a good impression at first. Entrance fee is high $25+ per person Rides, train, carousel, VR all charged extra β€”β€” but The zoo itself is well managed, has lots of animals and attractions to offer, plus it good to see many animals are in pairs, like lions, Rihnos, giraffes… we also liked that they’re organized in ways we did not have to walk a lot and most of the pathway was shaded in most parts. Overall it’s a great value, well managed and well organized zoo that both kids and adults would love.

Really outstanding zoo - from a historical walk past the old (really appallingly small) zoo spaces to the modern open and accessible ones. Animals seemed happy and spacious, and the food was excellent. Keep in mind that wintertime exhibits and food selections are more limited by the weather.

Went during the weekday during the summer. The zoo is much smaller than the National Zoo, but it was still very enjoyable bc it was not busy. I would definitely recommend going during an off peak time bc I think our experience wouldn't have been as nice if it was crowded.

We live love love the zoo. My kids are now teens and still like coming to the zoo. DC and Baltimore zoo each have their uniqueness. Our last trip some animals weren't out. The polar bear is no longer there. The monkeys are always exciting to watch. There is a play ground for ages 5 to 10, there is a petting farm, train, carousel, tree slide. Staff is always pleasant. I've been coming here since 2010.

The zoo is doing great with implementing covid safety procesures. Staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time! Kudos to Hannah and Sarah with Penguin Encounters! Thanks y'all!

This is a great zoo to go to with young kids. The animals are often fairly easy to see, and there isn't as much walking as some zoos. Since COVID, they have been doing timed reservations, which limits the number of people there at once. The one downside is that the trolley hasn't been running during COVID, which means a long walk to the start of the exibits. We always enjoy our time there regardless.

Was there for Zoo Lights 2020. We didn't get to really see the animals except for the penguins, but that was still cool.. Good people working at the zoo. Helpful and accommodating.

Love seeing the animals! Great experience with the chimps! The babies were adorable 😍. The only thing was that some animals were not in their enclosure and there wasn't a sign or anyone to explain why.

Mostly good. We appreciated the winter discount and the Zoo is well laid out. However, they’ve taken COVID precautions to the next level. Most buildings and indoor exhibits are closed. They only let one group into the Chimp house every 4-5 minutes. The result: you stand in a crowded line for 30+ minutes and then end up being the only person in a 3,000 sq ft building. I’d go. Just skip the lines...not worth it.

It's fun. Strategically planned as to not have you back track and weaves you through the exhibits pretty smoothly. A lot of the kids related activities were closed off due to Covid,l but they enjoyed visiting the animals at least. There was a very long line to see the chimps and the giraffes since they were in the indoor enclosures, we skipped that. Maybe if you have an early entry ticket it's not so bad, we went at noon. We enjoyed seeing the elephant show - they are pretty intelligent animals.

Recently visited for the Christmas lights festival....long story short $20/per person, 2 adults and a child equals $60 WASTED. Its like they had chosen the worse 1 colored dollar tree lights to wrap around some tree trunks and some wire sculpters shaped like maybe a santa; either way I seen the same stuff in a neighbors non-lawn on Greenmount. Nothing jaw dropping or "oooh", NOT EVEN FROM THE KID. My own kid who's 9, and imaginary 9, felt that I too wasted my money there. The music came on once we were leaving and we were not there on time. It all was sad, so sad I wrote to the zoo via email letting them know they're too are greedy and I feel robbed of my hard earned $60 for this sad a** festival of lights. To have a moment to be in the holiday spirit and to choose to spend $60 on something for the family versus having $60 for anything else that is needed and the Baltimore Zoo practically lied and stole my family's money to help with where they've lost money during this pandemic. I'll never go back. Even if this country get a hold over corona virus, I still will not return. I should've went to Merriweather!

We visited the Chistmas Lightkng show at night. The ticket was $20 per person. The lighting was nice and ww did see penguines at their habitat. The walk towards the zoo was nice. We see kids are enjoying hw lighting very much. It took us barely 30 minuted to enter, see the whole show and come back. To be honest, we expected a little more for the ticket price! Over all, good!

A small but beautiful zoo, with a pretty good winter price ($15). Took my 3 year old today and I appreciated that she was able to walk most of the way, since there isn’t a lot of uphill climbs. If you go, go early! We arrived at 10am and it felt like we were the only ones there for the first hour. We got to see the exhibits up close and most of the available exhibits were lively. (Usually if I go to a zoo in the afternoon most of the animals are hiding or napping.) COVID restrictions are following well marked paths, no playground/slide access, and I believe a limited amount of people allowed in the chimpanzee area but like I said, if you arrive early there’s no line and you get to stay in longer than a busier time. The elephants and giraffes weren’t out today, but it was pretty chilly so I’m sure they were inside where it was warm. The only thing that made me feel bad was the Jaguar was pacing in a grooved area, I hope it’s staff members give the poor thing extra love or something :( All in all a good trip to cure cabin fever during covid

Last year for my daughter's birthday, we went to the Central Park Zoo in NYC. She enjoyed visiting the zoo so much she wanted to go to the one right here in her hometown, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. I've been away from Baltimore for several years, and am glad to be retired and living here again. I know I'll visit the zoo often, so I became a member. We had a wonderful day at the Maryland zoo... great place to go during this season of social distancing.

My fiancΓ© and I toured the Mansion Porch House on Saturday, January 29th. We have had to cancel our wedding twice now, so we were looking for a venue that could possibly accommodate us for an outdoor ceremony and reception. My interactions with the Director of Sales was quite cordial. She was very helpful and friendly, answering all the questions I had prior to our in-person tour of the venue. These cordial interactions continued through the tour up until today, when we contacted her to discuss finalizing our wedding date and securing the venue. We were provided with a list of approved caterers, which we have been contacting since Saturday, hours after we left the venue. We wanted to first confirm the caterers availability and ensure that they were both within our budget and served a menu that we as a couple would enjoy. After emailing over ten caterers on the approved list, we located a vendor which was not only affordable, but had great reviews on Yelp and a menu that we would enjoy. We contacted the caterer only to find that they were already booked for the date that we had chosen. So we were back to the drawing board. After my fiancΓ© and I reviewed the contract, we noticed under the "catering" section, that the venue would consider approving a vendor that was not on the list they provided, for additional fees. We then reached out to the Director of Sales to discuss how we would go about having a caterer of our choosing approved. This is when our interactions completely changed. We initially had to leave a voicemail where we politely explained our dilemma and advised that we really wanted to utilize a black-owned vendor (from what we understand, none of the vendors on the approved list are black-owned). The Director of Sales then returned our call and shut us down immediately. She said that approving another caterer was her decision to make and that she would not consider any other vendors that were not on their list. We were surprised at her response, because she never ever asked us what caterer we wanted to use, she automatically assumed that the vendor we would select would be unsuitable. She stated that this was due to covid and the zoo's reputation. If anyone has been to the zoo within the last few years, that excuse was laughable. Additionally, why open your venue for event rental if you're indeed concerned about covid? It wasn't as if they were testing and screening our guests and other vendors upon arrival to our event. We mentioned to her again the portion in the contract she had just sent us hours before, which clearly stated that it would be considered. If this is what the zoo considers consideration, they may as well just remove this portion of the contract. Now, I have spoken to MANY venues who have had strict policies on the vendors that they allow. The Maryland Zoo on the other hand only had the requirement for the caterer, with the stipulation that I mentioned. Her abrupt dismissal left a horrible taste in our mouths. Mind you, we were reminded on several occasions that the rental fees assist with the upkeep of the zoo. So you would think that they would be more flexible seeing as though the zoo has been closed for months due to covid. My fiancΓ© and I are currently reaching out to the zoo to discuss our experience further. I am hoping this review will prompt someone to reach out to us to discuss this incident.

The Zoo was awesome. It seemed like we'd walk through it quickly, but it is very dense and very well laid out. It took us about 4 hours to walk through the whole thing (we skipped a ton, unfortunately) and all the animals seemed very happy. Highly recommend

WOW is the word, as I've not been to the zoo in years. It's truly amazing what a treasure the St. Louis Zoo is to the area and it's free. I was recently there to take pictures and shoot a video of the Penguins, plus some of the other critters which like the cold. I know a lot of people have kept away from the zoo due to the pandemic or don't have the time, so I've put up a Youtube video called Zootime under my name with the penguins. It's a fun watch for the kids and anyone else. I'd definitely recommend a visit to the St. Louis Zoo and I'll be back for more fun this summer.

I've been going to the zoo since I was a little child so it feels so nostalgic to bring back my children. We went for the Boo at the Zoo and the kids had a blast. The only gripe I have is that the little area didn't have much to offer and there was a lot of overcrowding. I really wish the zoo would bring back trick-or-treating around the zoo instead of one spot. Other than that the staff is incredibly friendly. Looking forward to going back

Veterans Day 2021. Enjoyed the visit yet equally disappointed. Highlights, penguins, bear, polar bear(last day to visit before being removed from zoo), beautiful trees, leaf colors, lion actually was visible, flamingo's my fav bird and loved the retro memory stroll to the original entrance. I hope there's a plan to put something nice there or remove those dated cages. Lows: zebra or rhino on view, giraffes we're out in about, couldn't feed them though (apparently they only have select feed days), one operating shuttle tram, holds about 6-8 ppl, no birds, view of mammals is stressful outside, very lil in aquatic tanks. The train wasn't working😫 but it's expected to be in operation for Xmas holiday lights. Overall, my grandson enjoyed his 1st visit and the freedom to move about in awe. This is still a worthwhile zoo, my childhood zoo, a zoo for families and animal lovers...it needs help and restoration. Btw, the employees were super friendly and had lots of animal knowledge. $73 for me and two kids...not happy about that.

Today my son and I had the best mother/son day at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. It was quiet, very few people , totally relaxing and easy to get to. It was his surprise Christmas gift as he loves penguins. So I had scheduled a penguin encounter where he got to be up close with several peguins. Our group only had 4 of us. It's 6 max just fyi. And we had I think about 10 ambassador penguins we got to spend time with and learn about. It was a great experience. The zoo keepers were friendly and super knowledgeable. They also opened an old historic part of the original zoo up so you can walk thru and see how it used to look. Here are just a few of the hundreds of pics I took today. The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore

A small but well done zoo. I really liked the old historical enclosures when you first enter the zoo. Interesting to see what animal exhibits used to look like in the zoos beginning. You can pretty much see everything in just under 2 hours. I was kind of surprised not to see a reptile house.

When doing here it passes through baltimore to get to it you can't get there straight from the highway. The parking is a little crowded cause it is not paved with part being mud and grass. it has part of the parking with some weird square paving that makes it hard to push strollers over in the parking lot. The zoo starts with having to go through a history part were it has empty cages that were used when the zoo was made long ago. Which is interesting but extremely annoying to have to go through close to the end of the visit when the kids are tired, hot, and not wanting to be there at all. The place does have drinking water stations but most that I tried didn't work. It also has stations for a headphone tour but there was no information about how to use them or pay for it if need be. With the giraffe feeding we were told if they don't eat they just don't which is understandable but maybe preface that before you have people pay. Also because of the way the place is designed it is hard to go on a path that would let you move in a simple loop without having to double back on the paths. It also seems they cut off the American wildlife part so they could do the paid dinosaur park part. And while they didn't have the birds because of bird flu being around there were not a whole lot of bird exhibits to start with. This zoo has very little and want you to pay premium for it then ask for donations once you are inside.

Spring visit...beautiful mid 70s weather. There were not many animals out. The zoo wasn't very crowded. We had received a membership there as a gift which I recommend in support of caring for all the animals, also if you go on a day when there's not much activity or any events you would be more reluctant to return another day and besides that it's cheaper than standard admission.

I haven't been to the Maryland Zoo since I was a child. And honestly, it was kind of underwhelming compared to other zoos I've been too. The food was VERY overpriced. I paid for souvenir cups and wasn't given them, I was given regular cups. I bought dippin' dots, and they didn't have any spoons at the station. My husband had to go walk back to the food area to try to get spoons. The experience walking around the zoo was pretty confusing and underwhelming too. The Maryland wilderness section meets up with the petting zoo section, and it's very confusing how to get from one to the other, and a big gap of walking between them. The glass to see the animals through was very dirty on every single exhibit, which made it hard for my elderly mother to see the animals. We went there for her birthday, and she was very disappointed. The African section was the best part, but in this part there were quite a few empty enclosures, or animals we simply couldn't find in their enclosures. For the drive and the price, it wasn't worth it for me and my family personally. But I can see it being worth it to go to this zoo for those who live closer. As a side note, the roads are HORRIBLE to get to the zoo when you get close. And the parking wasn't great either. My mom had a hard time walking on their weird stones that people could easily trip on.

Such a nice little zoo! Love that they take in animals that need gone and even keep up empty enclosures in case an animal comes in an emergent situation. We will go back for sure!

This Zoo is OK, not as many animals as I had hoped, and alot of ground to cover. They do have a ton of penguins , more than I've seen at the aquarium! The bear cave Outlook to see the grizzly bear was very cool. The bathroom was clean, the area to eat lunch was well shaded & cooled with fans, and there were alot of benches through out the zoo to take a break and cool off if needed.

Went to the Baltimore zoo during my stay in the city and I was glad I did! As you can expect it's pretty fricken expansive in all avenues, easy to move around in and very well kept! The animals are awesome, well taken care of at a glance and if I had to pick my favorites? It'd be the rhinos, elephants wart hog and tortoises! Staff were great, nice to talk to and knew their stuff, great people work there! If I had any gripes about the zoo ot was the entrance price is a little steep, the construction was annoying and...I wish i got there earlier to see EVERYTHING! Aside from that though, I had a lot of fun there and highly recommend it to people visiting Baltimore! Pictures are of the wide outside expanse of the zoo, gift shop, Souvenir I got and VARIOUS animals I saw!!!

They have carousel, train ride and face painting for children. They have many species but smaller than dc zoo. You can pet certain animals and witness animals eat during feeding time . They have a variety of tasty food items with a pavilion to cool off while your eat. There’s plenty of shade . You will spend about 2.5 hours there

The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore offers a variety of animal exhibits and experiences, but there are some aspects that could be improved. Firstly, the price of admission is quite high, which may deter some visitors. Additionally, there seemed to be a lack of activities or interactive exhibits for visitors, especially for families with children. However, it's important to note that the overall experience was not necessarily bad; the zoo does have a diverse range of animals to observe. In summary, while the high cost and limited activities were drawbacks, the visit to The Maryland Zoo was still a decent experience.

Had a great chat with the keepers while giving treats to Anna (38f). The end of the trunk felt like a very strong "hand" that was wet (does go into the mouth often) while breathing on ya. The two bulls were visible in separate pens. Some local park deer wandered in the habitat. Anna was chill. Stampston was not.
