We visited on Friday 4/8/2022 - We arrived at the Zoo around 10:30 am. I did not have to wait long to purchase my ticket even though there was a small line. My daughter and I spent a good hour - hour & half, venturing around the open exhibits. Our favorite was the giraffes ! 🦒🦒🦒 The "baby" one kept running around between the adults, it was so cute! The Ocelot was super cute! The Leopard was GORGEOUS 🖤 Some animals were not present & some things were being built, so there is some construction - That just means more animals are coming , so let's be patient while we wait! 🤍 Several different playgrounds on site. Gift shop is reasonably priced as well. We didn't not purchase any food or drinks. There was a shaved ice truck also out front when we left. It was a nice thing to enjoy with my child on a Friday ! ✨️🙌🤍 They do hold special dates & seasonal events. Membership & group rates are available per request! Check out their website before heading out. I recommend the Greenville Zoo to locals & those passing through ! 🦒🦎🐸🐺🐒🐼🐆🤍✨️

As someone who has frequented bigger zoos in the past, I think this zoo is quality for the price of entry and the size of the space available. Some of the enclosures need to be updated and the exhibit descriptions are better for children than adults. There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of engaging enrichment for the animals since many of them were facing the back of their enclosures (the keeper side) clearly waiting to be fed. I think there are certainly better zoos in the southeast, but again, I think this one is on par for what you pay.

Small zoo but very nice. Not too many animals, several different kinds of monkeys, lions, giraffe, leopard, birds, flamingos. Cost was $14 for an adult. Very clean and well kept. Easy parking.

Good little zoo! Price is right for its size. Wish the gift shop was a little larger. Animal exhibits are great! Most animals were active when we were there. I would plan about an hour and a half depending on your speed. My Wife and I are avid zoo enthusiasts. We visited this zoo on a trip including 4 other Zoos. This one was by far the smallest.

A beautiful experience, with well cared for animals and clean atmosphere. Even with the little bit of renovating going on, the animals were quite relaxed and seemed happy. The kids had a blast! A great little seating area for snacks, and a large park for the little ones to let off some energy. Stay until near closing and you can get some interactions with the cats as they await dinnertime.

Wonderful zoo! Well designed and small enough for kids to walk around comfortably but plenty to see! Took us around an hour to walk though the whole park. My kids really enjoyed seeing the alligator, giraffes, lions, and monkeys. There's also a nice park right next to the zoo.

Greenville Zoo is small but kept nice and clean. They have many different animals, my favorites were red pandas and baby orangutan and the leopard. Unfortunately it was a cold day so giraffes were inside and we didn’t see any, same with lions. But that means we will have to be back.

I love all the improvements to the Zoo. Our granddaughter had such a wonderful time. She was literally squealing with delight at all the different animals. All the animals and their enclosures were clean and healthy. The reptile exhibit was outstanding! The staff was friendly, especially the lady in the gift shop. Keep up the excellent work!

We visited the Greenville Zoo for the first time and really enjoyed it. The park was very clean and the gift shop had a lot of neat things. We’ll definitely be back to see the animals again!

We had such a nice time at the Greenville zoo! They made a lot of improvements since last year and they even have a person who walks around and tells you information about the different animals.

What a fun, little zoo! Just perfect for young children and adults alike. Loved all the play areas and I’m excited to bring my family back here to visit and play. It was a rainy day when we spent time at the zoo, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Well maintained.

The cutest mini zoo I've ever been to. Its a mile long and there are markers throughout. They have a small gift shop and convenience "store." The animals there are so cute and it was a fun experience overall. Worth the ticket price.

It was okay for a small zoo. We enjoyed seeing the leopard and orangutans the most. My grandson was thrilled because he loves animals and those were two he had not seen before. There were also lions which he always enjoys. Only one small snack bar is offered. It only takes about an hour to traverse the whole zoo so we were able to see all his favorites two or three times.

Unexpectedly great zoo! For a zoo on the smaller side, it was great! The animals are situated in a way where they are easily visible and the setting is very natural. The zoo is easily walkable with small kids and all the animals were out! We even saw a lion roar!

Incredibly small zoo. Only 2 ticket stations to enter, and the walking track is only a mile around the whole thing. They did have some wonderful animals, it seemed like the animals were well taken care of, but I only saw 2 zookeeper the entire time we were there (granted the majority of them could have been behind the scenes, you still usually see more in a regular size zoo). There were no animal shows to tell you more about the beautiful creatures living there, and limited signs for info. It wasn't a bad zoo, it was just super small and not very engaging. The animals still need care and support, so I applaud them no matter their size, it is just something to consider when planning your day. This zoo only took about an hour to see the whole thing and that was stopping at every enclosure.

A great small zoo with a really nice reptile house. Some different animals than Riverbanks or Atlanta have. Tickets are $11 for adults and $8 for kids.

Visited in the summer time and had a blast! They even had mist tents set up around the zoo (we loved and looked forward to a cool off on such a hot day)! Kids enjoyed seeing animals, visiting the gift shop (even could treat them to a $3 icey pop & 75c animal figure). We have a membership and love coming! But the zoo playground, inexpensive toy and ice pop made the kids day. They were so tired they didn't even want to play in the park outside the zoo. Love this place, will continue to buy memberships and support this zoo!!

This is a very cute little zoo. You can definitely see and read about all the animals in 1.5 hours. It's worth the visit if you really enjoy zoos/like animals. They have a really decent assortment of animals (lions, giraffes, owls, lizards, etc). Next time I visit (I'm from out of state) I'll be sure to bring my husband. I think it's worth checking out, especially since it won't use up too much of your day. There's plenty of parking and it's next to a park. Honestly, the whole place is perfect for families with young children. The zoo is small enough that kids won't get worn out and they can play in the park afterwards.

Cute little zoo. It's a little over a mile to walk, exhibits are spaced out comfortably. Lots of "pit stops" for kids to play and interact along the way. Animals were very active and out in the viewing areas when we were there. The only exhibit that made me sad was the lions. Their habitat seemed small and they didn't have any toys or anything to interact with. They just laid on the rock (others I've been to had large balls at least for them to roll along the ground). They also seemed skinny, but I don't know their back story (age, health, prior life), so I'm not making any accusations because all of the other animals seemed well cared for and happy. Admission was $12 for adults which I thought was reasonable. Seeing the baby giraffe and then the baby orangutan roll in the pile of straw was worth the price of admission. It was definitely a great morning out.

The Greenville Zoo is a small zoo, but has a lot of love behind it. I always love going to see the giraffes and watch the baby's grow up over time. This time I came at a great time, when they were feeding the lions. The nice lady took questions after feeding them and could speak Spanish which was useful. There was a few families that only spoke Spanish and she was able to answer their questions too. That is above and beyond right there! The zoo is actively maintained and well taken care of. They have been slowly working on upgrading exhibits which is nice to see. Concessions is wonderful if you need a quick bite while exploring the zoo. Oh, and all the flamingos they added are really cool! A great little zoo to visit once and awhile 😁.

The animals were amazing. The zoo was very small and took us under an an hour to walk through. $12 seems a lot for how small it is. We were also very disappointed that they didnt accept our reciprocal membership as they are on the list currently as accepting it. I understand that (due to Covid) the zoos have the option to accept or not, but when we, as consumers, purchase a membership, we expect the value of the membership. The person at the window was also not the nicest person to have handling customers.. he was very rude when telling us they were not accepting the membership.. The zoo was average and we did enjoy the hour we were there, so that is three reason for 3 stars and not less.

Overall its a nice zoo. You cam see the whole thing in about an hour, faster if you have excited kids that move quickly. The gift shop was ok but per usual expensive. The day we went the animals were out of hiding which was nice.

Great place to spend a couple hours. Nice large play area with picnic tables next to it if you've driven a long while and kids need to get energy out. (Didn't get a picture of it) Beautiful animals. Everyone there was kind. We'd go again.

First time visiting today and we loved it! This zoo is definitely small but we knew that going into it. I feel like it being small is better for the animals honestly, they seemed so much more active and happy here than they do at Riverbank. We have been to Riverbank at least 10 times in our lives and have never seen a lion or giraffes so close to us, and super active too! I feel like these animals are so happy here. Our daughter is 2 1/2 and they have convenient little places for small kids to stand by the enclosures to see the animals. Overall we loved it and it was close by and inexpensive!

We love the Greenville Zoo. It’s small, but perfect for my younger kiddos… it’s not so big they’re too tired to walk it all. They’ve done a number of renovations and updates in the few years since we started going and the kids always love to play on the playground right outside of the zoo before we leave. This is a nice zoo. They have an interesting program where people can pay a quarter to put a token into one of four or five boxes labeled with an endangered animal (I can't remember how many boxes,) and I believe how it works is that for every token in each box, they donate a quarter to help support the protection of said endangered animals, (check my facts if I am wrong.) They take a good amount of care of the animals, and the place has many kid-friendly activities, including three different playgrounds (two of which are covered) for your children, also having multiple time dependent activities like classes on zoology and biology. The reptile/invertebrate house is amazing. Overall, 10/10

***You must order tickets online, do not think you can get in by showing up to buy tickets, order a day in advance***. The entire zoo takes about 40 minutes to walk through and viewing is even more limited because of construction. The available exhibits are pretty good but not huge like the asheboro zoo. The price is about half of what you would pay at the larger zoo for about 1/3 of the exhibits. Definitely patronize and donate to support conservation but in terms of entertainment asheboro is a better value.

This is such a fun little zoo! We took my 84 year old grandmother year and the entire zoo took about 2 hours to get through including our stop to eat lunch and visit to the shop. It was really fun. There is also a very large playground for the kids to play on. Unfortunately my daughter got stung by a bee while playing but the staff took great care for her. Giving it 4 stars though because some of the animal enclosures were entirely too small for the animals. It made me sad to see how little some of them were for the larger animals.

The exhibits are well-designed and allow visitors to see the animals up close. I love that they have raised areas for small children to stand on so that they can easily view each animal! It is a small zoo, which is the reason for 4 stars, but it's beautiful and priced well. There is also an amazing playground at the entrance.

Greenville Zoo was a very tidy, small zoo. There were lots of animals to see. We got through the zoo in about an hour and half. We paid online and reserved our time online as well. It made getting into the zoo a much speedier process. It was difficult getting great pics through the glass. But that is the case at all zoos where the animals are behind a window. I felt the viewing area for the giraffes was not close enough, and a feeding area to interact with the giraffes would be lots of fun like Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. Otherwise, it was a good trip, and it is a great little zoo to take the kids. I bought a membership to the zoo so that I can visit often.

First zoo experience for grandchildren. It was the right size for little ones and their attention span. It took about an hour to an hour and a half. The zoo was developed properly (layout) and easy to navigate. There are ample sitting spots to rest or animal watch as well as restroom locations. Play areas are placed appropriately throughout the zoo. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and very well maintained. Exiting the premises is challenging from the parking lot closest to East Washington Street.

We got free tickets and went here over Memorial weekend... it was sprinkling, so they weren't busy at all. It's a small zoo and doesn't take long to walk the whole thing. The gardens are beautiful and well taken care of and so are the animals. We always enjoy the giraffes, lions and monkeys, but this time they had some sort of lizzard. He loves people they said, and he followed my grandson all over near the window. It made his day! It was our 2nd time visiting this zoo and we will definitely be back.

Very cute little zoo. Took only about 2hrs of pittling though. There wasn't much but the few they had were cool. Expected bigger and the gift shop they have wasn't stocked and bare. Could have been better but was a good little detour. Been to the Detroit Zoo in Michigan and that's an all day thing! Which I expected but it's ok.

Great, but...you can tell they are working hard to enhance the exhibits. Animals well taken care of. $14 tickets ($28 for wife and I), and even taking our time and spending time to talk to keepers, still finished everything in just under an hour. Fantastic playgrounds if you have younger kids. Individuals with physical mobility issues may find the layout challenging as it is built on the side of a slope.

So today I went to the zoo here in Greenville. I have always loved this zoo and today was no exception. Disclaimer: the Lions are off exhibit though I will not tell you why, and they are building new enclosures for the lemurs so you won't get to see them. One of the saddest things is the lone red panda (the other either wasn't out or has passed on) give them some love. I also loved the monument to Joy the elephant one of the greatest things about the zoo... Also I am sorry to the little girl who got a first hand experience on how Vulture babies are made

Although small, but a quaint zoo in the middle of Greenville. Despite running into a problem involving purchasing tickets for the wrong day/week, which was only because of website issues, they went the extra mile to allow us to take vacant membership reservations for that day, and only 15 min after the time we initially wanted. Unfortunately I do not recall the 2 individuals that helped me and my girlfriend, but I thank them greatly nonetheless. All the animal exhibits are adorable and interesting, and the price for tickets, even for adults, are very affordable and worth the value. I highly recommend this zoo for the amazing service and the attractive, yet small facility.

It's a small zoo but definitely worth the visit. Lovely park grounds surrounding and a great covered picnic area. Our highlight was the giraffe family (dad, mom, son) but dad was the "ham" of the group totally into the people visiting them! All the exhibits were in top shape, the animals were extremely healthy looking and the staff did a wonderful job gearing up the zoo with Halloween decor for the kids. We will visit again in the future!

small, but very pretty and well maintained zoo. lots of current construction happening in adding exhibits. design of some exhibits seems to allow much better, and closer, viewing of some animals, such as the giraffes and lions, than some other zoos.

We attended Bo at the Zoo. It was very clean and organized. They only took reservations for the times available. Number of guests were limited and face masks required. Local businesses were giving out candy at many locations, while you walked the trail. It was a good experience. One suggestion, have more costumed people on the trail.

The family was very excited to visit the Greenville Zoo during our vacation in SC. In fact, the most facinating animals at Greenville Zoo were the flamingos and giraffe. The most disappointing part of our visit was many attractions were closed, such as: Reptile House, Amphibians House, no elephants, No Bears, No tigers, etc.

I lived in Greenville 4 years before I went to the zoo for the first time. The exhibits were amazing and the variety of animals was impressive for a small zoo. I've never actually cried after visiting a zoo. I did this time. Tiny enclosures, teasing the lion with fake roars until it roars, the giraffes had no room to move, the ocelots pacing as if they didn't know what to do with themselves, the list goes on. The animals just look very sad here.

  • 3/5 ROY F. 3 years ago on Google
Me and my granddaughter went and paid $16 to see a few animals but not many they have pink flamingos I thought were fake at first till they started moving what a blast. Lot of the animals weren't present I guess because it was so cold but they could have had a lot of common animals around here a cow a horse a pony pigs and etc etc but they know best what they're doing with the money they have to operate on it was very clean the snakes were a good exhibit and the lizards turtles and frogs. I guess when you pay you expect to be better entertained I'm not complaining I was just a little disappointed for my granddaughter 6 years old and so excited but we had fun

Small zoo that is doable in a couple of hours. Reasonably priced and even more so if you buy one of their season passes that will get everyone in on a single day for about the same price as buying tickets individually. Nice variety of exhibits and education throughout the park. Don't every see my family not having a pass to this zoo. Small, well taken care of, and so close to many other places to eat play and explore.

  • 3/5 Brandt H. 3 years ago on Google
There are two reasons for this mediocre score: the Greenville zoo is tiny, and admittedly fall/winter is the zoo off-season. I don't want to punch down on small zoo, for what it is, it's great! It's cheap, in a decent location, and doesn't take much time; all commendable traits. If you're ever bored during the day it can certainly be worth your time!

Nice small zoo. If your in town and wanna see it its worth the nominal charge. They don't mention in their website, but because if construction some of the animals are not able to be seen. They should really post placards before you walk down to see the alligators that are not there till spring. And some others. They also don't mention (or I didnt see) you are required to purchase your tickets online before you get to the ticket window - show them the barcode and you get in. They will not sell you tickets at the gate (probably covid related).

For a near zoo this is a good experience , the restrooms are clean and the walk through is self explanatory . My fiance and I walked through this zoo without a map and had no issues what so ever .

What a fun little zoo! The giant ant eater was a highlight. They are rebuilding a number of the habitats. The animals appear lively and well taken care of. The zoo is wheelchair accessible. They're not enforcing Covid restrictions to the degree one might like, so be careful.

The zoo has a nice flow and we liked how it was one direction around the zoo. Most of the animals were out for us to see. Also, it was nice that there was an abundance of hand sanitizer stations.

Reasonably priced, very clean, great staff, and a decent variety of animals. Although I truly wish the enclosures were bigger. I've seen zoos with bigger enclosures

What can I say? It's the zoo for heavens sake. It's not a big Zoo but it's still worth going. I bought an annual pass to make sure I support the zoo. I can go anytime I want I just have to make a reservation.

Very small zoo. Enclosures are small as well. Makes you kinda sad watching the animals pace back and forth from boredom

Nice zoo in the downtown area . Some of the animals cooperated and allowed pictures to be taken.

The Greenville Zoo is one of my favorite places to go in Greenville. It's very reasonably priced and all of the animals are so cute. The whole zoo is about a mile long, and as a wheelchair user, the hills are quite a work out! I went about a week ago and I plan on going again very soon!

Very nice small well kept zoo. All of the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. My family had a blast here! The animals and grounds all seemed well cared for, such a lovely stop all in all!

It was fun.. it took about an 1½ hrs to see the entire zoo. Good place to fun and learn. It is sad that some of these animals are almost extinct.

Great zoo experience. Good variety of animals and exhibits considering the relatively small size of the town and facility. Quite clean considering the amount of foot traffic and animal interactions. Would recommend to someone wanting to get the family out of the house for a day.

For a small zoo it is ok. You will see some of the animals and some you will not. I wish there were some interactive attractions, like feeding the Giraffes or the Tortoise. My favorite animal is the Orangutan they never fail to put on a show. Improvements need to made in the concession area the food is microwaved and terrible.

Nice zoo for the little kids! Great playground next door too! I only wish the animal enclosures were bigger. Some seem way too small to allow for a good quality of life for the animals. Overall though, a nice little zoo worth visiting with the family!

A small, but really nice zoo. Because it's small you can afford to take your time enjoying each part. There's also a great play park by the parking lot for the kids. The pictures are from Christmas at the Zoo.

Wonderful experience, the zoo has a large variety of animals, they look very well taken care of, and you are close to them but safe. I took my 14,12, and 3 year old and they all enjoyed it including myself. My 77 year old mother also went with us and the zoo was just the right size for her to enjoy it without having to spend the whole day walking. We really enjoyed this so much!

We enjoyed our time at the zoo. It took us about an hour and 45 minutes to walk the entire length of the zoo. It is laid out well with a circular path winding through the different exhibits. We were able to see all of the animals with the exception of the anteater who must have been hiding. It is very affordable just $23 for me and my wife together, we booked our tickets online witch saved $4 total.

It's small but cute. Perfect to go to & just walk around for an hour or so... Price is fair, too. Go early or on cooler days, as with any place with animals, you won't see much movement from them when it's really hot outside. The baby giraffe is adorable!

We are members of the NC Zoo and really enjoyed the Greenville Zoo. The animals were very clos and active. The younger orangutan had a cardboard box for enrichment and was the highlight of my visit.

👍👍 Me and a few colleagues had a great time at Escape Artist this week. They were very accommodating to book us last minute. We had an amazing host/game manager. The game was difficult but doable. We finished with 25 seconds to spare.
