Casela zoo/park in Mauritius is the best place to be visited by kids and wildlife lovers. The Safari will take you in an open bus for a short duration of 45 min and you could watch many animals including Zebra, Ostrich, etc.....it's a nice Safari Adventure tour I have ever watched.....

In any case, first of all, depending on the season! We were here in September because the temperatures were more pleasant for us (!). The whole area looked rather desolate. Our highlight, however, were the free-roaming giant tortoises and the giraffes! At the Vogel-Voljeren (...it's definitely spelled wrong 😉) there is a great restaurant with a beautiful view over the landscape. The big cat enclosures in such a huge area are animal husbandry injustice!!!

Great fun for a 5 yo. Camel ride, giraffe feeding, up close with giant tortoises. Safari bus you have to pay extra for now. Tiring but fun day! Book online to avoid queues.

We can only recommend this park. Everything is clean and well maintained. You can see many different animals in their natural environment. We have the feeling that every animal feels comfortable. The safari tour was great and impressed us personally because we didn't know how extensive the park was. It's good that this area can only be accessed with safari cars and squats in order to leave the extraordinary animals in their surroundings relatively undisturbed.

Pretty nice zoo, especially the safari tour. The entrance fee seems a bit high but is really worth it.

Nice place to spend some time in nature with family and friends ... but the queue at the entry should be more fluid

This was a nice day out. Not good for a quick visit with kids. You need to plan to be there for the day. The map is quite useful but signs inside the park are not that clear so you may need to ask for directions. There's a large variety of birds and animals to see. Although the costs to do additional things are quite exorbitant compared to what you'd pay in Southern Africa. No food is allowed inside but we were allowed to carry snacks for the kids. The restaurant food was good- Reasonable variety of vegetarian options as well. Unless you get there really early and stay until it closes, it's difficult to see absolutely everything- so plan ahead and decide what you'd like to go see.

The park is beautifully landscaped, well maintained and clean. I had the impression that the animals were doing well. For us safari newbies, it was also great to drive through the park in the safari bus and get up close to the free-living animals. We also booked the lion/tiger tour, which was worth it, the ranger was very nice and explained a lot and we got very close to the animals, our safety was always taken into account. The toboggan run, which is included in the entrance fee, was also quite good. What was really annoying: the endless waiting times, we had to wait half an hour to get in (I recommend booking online beforehand), then we were taken to the safari stop on the first bus at the booked time, here we waited for 45 minutes until the safari bus came, the queue was big and we had to wait again until another bus was used, the tour then started again 15 minutes later. When the tour was finished we waited again for the bus and then again until the lion safari started. It's all poorly organized, without waiting we would have finished 2 hours earlier. What we didn't think was so great is that there is no park map with marked points where we have to be at what time. It wasn't all that clear to us and we often had to ask. The process in the park should be explained to visitors beforehand, the lady at the ticket office did it too quickly and unclearly and didn't give us a plan.

My second visit to Mauritius and second trip to Casela. Really enjoyed it. Shame some of the attractions have not reopened since covid. The safari was a long wait and bus's were filled too full (small seats). Other than that no real complaints.

Walking with lions is a great experience to me. Even it is a bit pricy but do try it once in your life time.

  • 3/5 Luka S. 2 months ago on Google • 40 reviews New
we were there for a few hours, and cant really say that is so special and wonderfull, as some others say. one restaurant closed up at 14:00, because of sone wedding. The already quite pricy entrance fee is quite high and for any other attraction, you have to pay a lot! from initial price of 1200MUR, you could easily spend a few thousand more... guides are bored and not really helpfull. The animals look in good shape and well taken care off wich is a plus.

Amazing little zoo safari park. Do the wild cat private tour (keepers are brilliant and passionate about their animals) and the jeep safari. Both are excellent and nothing like we have seen before. Strongly recommend!

If you want to walk with lions, make a reservation in advance~ I can't go twice because it's expensive, but I went once. You have to do a lot

Nice experience although not long (about 45 minutes). You better book in a day earlier or so as it can be fully booked on the day. Also, if you wanna visit the entire park you should go early and spread your activities throughout the day. They close around 5pm on weekdays (including restaurants) so keep that in mind

Safari Adventures Mauritius brings to you the only big cat encounter on the island. This exclusive activity is available all year at the Casela NatureParks. This is a unique opportunity available only to the people who are fortunate enough to decide to visit the park at least once in their lifetime. They may feel and study the primitive behaviour of the lions, cheetah and tigers and share their 'Pride' of being in their natural state. All these thrilling sensations are brought to you by a more than an experienced team with over three generations in the area of lion handling, training and expertise. We have conducted thousands of walks and encounters over the years. Safari Adventures offers you the safest big cat encounter, a world leader in any lion, tiger, cheetah, caracal and serval encounter, and is second to none. Big cat encounters include the once in a lifetime experience of walking with lions, and the ever-popular encounters with the cats (these include the cheetah, caracal and serval, and when available cubs). The activity you are paying for does not include the entrance fee to the park itself.

Really nice.. although the queues for both entrance and coaster are so long. No fast track inside.. the only fast track is for the entrance but it is useless since it is cost the double and useless inside.

Quadbike with safari was a beautiful experience, we got to see some beautiful animals like water bucks, monkeys, fed some zebras, ostriches etc. The whole experience was just worth it and didn't fall short of anything.

Nice park, great attractions... Can be confusing where to catch the safari buses. Zip line is very professional and exciting

  • 1/5 Omar E. 1 year ago on Google
Waste of money really , we paid extra to get the Photos with the lions and after few days we receive a bunch of out of focus photos not a single one we can use . they are all pixelated and the photographer has no idea what he was doing . money down the drain honestly . dont pay for photos really not worth it .

  • 5/5 Morolake O. 1 year ago on Google
It was nice here, with the lions and giraffes, make sure to buy a bag of food down before going up so u can feed the giraffes. They cute. Try to take bold pictures with the lions and all pictures cost money, the more you are, the cheaper your photos, so 6 people pay about 2500 rupees while one person pays 1500. Enjoy.

The park is as always, a good place to visit, for kids and grown-ups alike. Lots of changes this time, with the new rides and paying separately if you want to see the rhinos, a ride on Tulawakas and so on.No complaints though. But there are a few things which puzzled me: some people were allowed on the Tulawaka wearing loose clothing, others were wearing slippers. It's a contradiction indeed to the posters all around.

Amazing place, all interactions with animals much recommended as we did them all and the staff and guides were brilliant . Walk with the Lions is a must and would recommend asking for Guide name Angel he is marvellous. Unbelievable experience and would recommend to all. However an early start is a must to make sure the whole park is covered .

Was fun, some of the animals are in small cages though, and others completely alone, like that poor little rino. I don't mind animals in a large open spaces, but those confined in small cages ... in 2020, we should be past that.
