One of the best parks on the island. Free entry but parking space is somewhat limited. Nevertheless it is a beautiful 1 or 2 hour trail depending on which one you choose to do. Take a lot of water with you as there is none there. Don’t forget the mosquito spray as well. I recommend starting from the field office for the first time. But there are other entrances around the park.

I was there with my wife and our six year old son. What a fantastic place to hike in!! We went for the shorter trail and completed it in 3 hours. Have to be there to complete the next two trails. Recommended to have good shoes, if possible trekking sticks, and lots of water. Even though it was late winter, the walking makes you thirsty. Mind you, most of the track is under thick forest. Oh yes, mosquito repellent will be a must during summer. Will definitely be there during next school holidays...

Challenging hike that must be performed in proper shoes and not Flip flops as we saw a couple of tourists!!!!!! Beautiful forest and the lakes. Most impressive os to walk on the dried river of lava. We enjoyed it very much and can highly recommend it,even for beginners hikers. Just wear proper shoes!! The visitor center is helpful, lots of information and they have tortoise!💕

One of the three National Parks, one of the last two remaining primal forests of Mauritius. The signage may be questionable but it pays to engage with the very kind and helpful staff for advice and guidance on the best path to adapt to the visitors' condition: the fitter ones would be at ease doing the full course through the marshes and wetlands, complete with the loop and the trail up to the lagoon. Beginners and less able ones (especially with children) would be well advised to backtrack within 20-30 minutes of trekking into the straight portion of the track: just follow the markings, but if you sense being off-track do not attempt to guess by wandering. Just walk back. The more relaxed parts are the visitors' centre which provides a permanent exhibition about the endemic fauna ans flora, old ruins and a tortoise enclosure. In the end, you will find the picnic area very soothing... this will convince you about the necessity to maintain tall trees: besides the numerous benefits of their high canopy for fauna, their shade is incredibly effective on cooling down the immediate environs and makes it a much better place to have lunch than the scorching heat of seaside beaches.

If you stay in a hotel on the west coast, Bras d’eau is a perfect one-day activity. Suggestion, take the blue line first, go all the way to the public beach & take the red line on the way back. It was circa 8km in total, worthy every step

A lesser known national park. It's basically a forest with one trail to the swamps. About a 1-2 hour walk on rocks and dirt. Both the trail and the "sights" are very poorly marked. If you have nothing to do, it's a good refresher, but if you skip it, nothing will happen. Parking on campus is free.

I adored my time spent in this National Park. Very calming. Almost no mosquitoes; I did spray myself well before starting on the trail. It was a lovely walk on flat (no hills or climing) but lots of rocks. I strongly recommend it. The nearby beach is also a gem!

Serene nature trail with lots of greenery and fresh air. Parking available at the visitors' centre with security guards present. Mostly clean except some places where people have littered 😒. Easy to follow as it's clearly marked and labelled. Also has some picnic areas along the trail. Would be a nice healthy family/friends trip.

The trail wasn't difficult for the most part, i followed the red dot for a shorter trail. It took less than two hours. It can be slippery at times, so watch out if it's been wet. Get your insect spray on, take an umbrella if you can, esp if you go on a hot day. You don't need to pay anything, the start of the trail is in the car park, the workers there pointed me towards it, the toilet was clean (can't remember if it had tissues but it had water). I thought the signage was alright, easy to follow, the return for some reason felt slightly trickier, but nothing about getting lost or anything like that. I recommend it for soloists but not for parents with very young children.

Somewhere a nice place but be prudent on the road. The road is too curvy and forest. At night the place is too dark and strange. Afterall there is a public place, which we call a public park. Suggest to visit in day.

Bras D’Eau National Park is a peaceful and healthy place on the north east coast of the island of Mauritius. It is a natural reserve for nature lovers and hiking. The Park is covered with rich fauna and flora. You can plan a great outing with family or friends out there. It got many picnic spots and at the same time you can enjoy a healthy walk. Parking facilities are available on site. Before starting your adventure, I would advise you to check-in the visitors centre or meeting with one of the forest officers which is essential for yourself to learn more about the native and endemic species you will find in the park and as well the walking trail, picnic spots, fauna and flora location, etc. There's a site plan near the parking lot which can guide you where to start off. The forest is home to many endemic species. As you will walk along the trail you will discover many trees such as eucalyptus, blackwood, teak and casuarinas. Several kinds of birds can be spotted in the forest amongst sparrows, Mauritius fodys, canaries, white-tailed tropicbird, white-eyes. It is advisable to wear good walking shoes and mosquitoes repellent if you are allergic. To end your visit, you can either opt for lunch on the wooden tables you will find in the park or picnic at Poste Lafayette Beach which is 15 minutes walk from the park’s exit. Please keep the environment clean and use available bins in the park.

Very peaceful and off the beaten track. Highly recommend. Bring good walking shoes and terrain is uneven. We walked for about 1.5hr so couldn't complete the entire loop which would have been lovely to do if we had more time. Recommend going with 2-4hr of time. You can stop at the Visitors centre to see the giant tortoise. Free car parking available with a security guard there too. Bathrooms were somewhat clean.

A wonderful peaceful view of Mauritian Nature, far from the Madding crowds! We hired a scooter and went exploring with some advice from the locals we encountered on the way. It is a beautiful (cool) forest with wonderful bird and monkey life, as well as interesting ruins to look at. Unfortunately we werent able to complete the walk down to the lake/pond/water as we had timing constraints, but as an unguided excursion this was far more enjoyable than the "theme park rides" you encounter elsewhere on the wonderful island.

If you are over 50 and can barely walk then you will enjoy this. Pretty much nothing to see/do, just a stroll through the small park. The only interesting thing there is lots of termite nests.

Bras d'Eau might be the best that Mauritius has to offer if you're fond of adventure. The walk from main entrance to the beach is quite short (45mins) so you can endlessly wander around the woods, down to the river. The beach itself is accessible by road. It's a quite calm and peaceful place

Situated in the east of Mauritius, between Poste de Flacq and Roches Noires--about 1 km from the wind farm. Eco friendly environment, very cool and greeny. Old buildings converted to a visitors center, store and public toilet. Ruins of old sugar mill is still preserved. A break of 1 hr is sufficient, on the way to Poste la Fayette public beach. A trail (leading to nearby nursery) is also available.

Have been there for a field assignment.. It was amazing how this forest seems so wild and you can breathe pure air and can relax as you are away from the polluted air of the urban area.. For some hours, you forget that you are in Mauritius. I was with my friends and we enjoyed the trail from the visitors center to Poste La Fayette public beach. Had a great and memorable day. I recommend it. 👌

(Translated by Google) I really liked the tranquility of the place. It is seen that they keep it in good cleaning condition. It is ideal for a good walk in the forest and to find lush green spaces. Here you will find some of the endemic birds on the island. No one bothers you, although you can find people doing different tours in the morning. The entrance is not charged. Don't forget to take fly repellent, preferably one that is very strong. It is worth looking for local companies to do the tour since it is a big place and it is easy to get lost. Of course the local company you choose will indicate your rate.
