What a hidden little gem. A great 10min stop off to explore a cave used by the slaves to hide away. Very peaceful and easy to access. There is ample parking, and easy to access.

The cave is very beautiful but is dark. It is also humid with clear water at the end. Very good place to visit.

Very nice to visit. But I'm wondering if there are regular tests to make sure that all is safe to go down and visit same. There are birds in the caves (not bats) who do amazing nets and their cries are special

Well it's just a simple cave but interesting for a quick visit. The place is well maintained and cleaned. A little kiosque on side if want to make a pause. Small parking for not more than 5 vehicles.

No lighting, just very dark when you enter. You don’t get a true sense of the caves as it is so dark.

Loved my recent expedition to the caves, I found myself captivated by their remarkable architecture, to my astonishment, I discovered that these magnificent structures were formed by the eruption of volcanoes. Venturing into the depths of the caves, I couldn't help but admire the phenomenal design and sheer grandeur of their formations. The way the stalactites and stalagmites gracefully hung and rose from the cavernous ceilings and floors was a sight to behold. It was as if nature had sculpted these underground wonders with meticulous care, creating an architectural masterpiece hidden beneath the earth's surface. Yet, what truly left me in awe was the realization that these caves were birthed from the fiery embrace of volcanoes. The sheer power and intensity required to carve out such magnificent chambers and passages were beyond comprehension. It was a humbling reminder of nature's ability to shape and transform the world in ways we could never fathom. As I stood amidst the ancient beauty of the caves, I couldn't help but marvel at the intricate dance between fire and earth that had given rise to these awe-inspiring structures. The molten lava, once unleashed from the depths of the earth, had paved the way for the creation of this extraordinary architectural marvel. Leaving the caves, I carried with me a newfound appreciation for the wonders that nature bestows upon us. The fusion of volcanic might and artistic design had crafted an enchanting realm, reminding me of the incredible forces at work beneath our very feet.

A nice little cave. A part of the slavery history. About 30 steps down into cave. Water at the bottom. Nice place to sit and have a picnic, if wanted.

We visited yesterday ( 26 September) in the middle of the day and the area was clean and safe. We felt it was worth the stop. We did not explore deep inside the caves, but found it interesting to see the lava tubes. Took no more than 5 minutes, so do pause if you are passing through

It's a nice place but it has been reconstructed. So it's smaller now.

Surprise! That lava tunnel is quite accessible with stone-built stairs that lead down a spiral into a dark, water-bearing cave. The water is very clean and very cold to the touch: when your eyes are adapted to the dark, you may see shrimps in the water! A very appropriate place to demonstrate how water from above ground (rain) percolates/filtrates through the various soil layers to end underground - which is why you must NEVER throw away oily substances carelessly. Final, and essential note: the entrance main gate of the place is located on the main road itself, not in the side roads as wrongly indicated by the directional signs on either side of the main road.

It is a very nice spot, shows the beauty of nature. You have to go down few steps then you would see the cave which is normally filled with water.

As per the folklore, women used to go down the caves to do their laundry, hence the name "La Cave Madame", the literal translatiom being "Women's caves". Great place with awesome views and picture-perfect spots, this one is a must visit when you are in the vicinity.

One of the unique and rare places in Mauritius, worth a visit that will not take more than five minutes, but it is very small and there is not much to see or do in the place.
