For me, this is the best place on Mauritius ! 13 km route is great with amazing views, 5km is ok but nothing to compare with longer distances. Please note they you have to in good condition!

A nice and quiet place, away from the beaches. We took a 5km walk to the turtle‘s reservoir. It is a very green place and the Ferney people try to reforest the tropical wood. Good walking shoes and sun protection, sometimes you step through small rivers

Nestled in the heart of nature, this reserve offers a fantastic view that will leave you in awe. We opted for the 13 km trail, which, I must admit, felt longer than 13 km. The path, although rocky, was not challenging, and anyone with moderate fitness levels can comfortably complete it. My only suggestion would be to introduce shorter trails, perhaps an 8 km or 10 km option, for those who prefer a more concise trek. One thing to bear in mind is that the trails aren't particularly shaded. Therefore, it's essential to be prepared with proper sun protection, like a cap and sunscreen, to ensure a pleasant hiking experience. We encountered a few deer but luck was not on our side and we didn't see the kestrel. Before embarking on the hike, visitors need to register and pay an entrance fee at the reception located in the white colonial house. The reception has been relocated from the ex-sugar mill/factory. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Tried the Blue track of 5km and which is flat. Enjoyed it and will definitely try the yellow one next time.

Sind nur den 5 km Trail wegen Zeitmangel gegangen. War trotz Regenschauer landschaftlich sehr schön. Breite, steinige Wege. Aber gut zum Gehen. Kommen vielleicht nochmal für eine längere Route. Gibt noch 13 und 18 km.

We did a 8km hike which was really beautiful. There are also other trails (5km, 13km, 20km) with different ascents so you can choose depending on your time which is quite nice. But for all trails you have to pay a fee.

Went there to spend some time while waiting for my night flight, i wanted an easy short route, so i took the blue route, the place was very well signed, in fact the best one out of other places i went to. It was mostly flat, but you can go for harder routes (yellow and red) and go up the mountain. I would suggest water/hiking shoes, or hiking shoes you don't mind getting wet. I also took an umbrella since the easy route is not shaded. (To go to yellow/red, you also start with the easy blue routes). If you have knee pain when you squat, the blue route is fine as it is almost flat (highest is 75m) but you get to this height pretty slowly.

Great experience for all seeking for real, wild forest. I booked my visit online, using Facebook messenger, trip starts at 10 am. First short drive by 4x4 track followed by 2 hours walk in the natural park.Variety of trees, olive tree, cinnamon tree, palm, mango and many many others. Quick visit in plant nursery and kestrels feeding - means the guide throws dead mice and the bird catches it. One more chance to see and touch tortoises. Worth to go - stunning views. Easy trip for everyone

We had a lovely guided tour with Olivier, which had a nice route, was very informative and even included a kestrel feeding. The landscape was also very beautiful. Personally we could’ve walked further as the 3km, maybe different kind of guided tours would be nice. We reserved our spot beforehand via Email which was easy and payed on-site just before we left

Fantastic trail in wonderful Mauritian nature. We took the yellow trail (13 km), which was considered medium difficulty. For skilled tourists, it is really beginner difficulty. But be sure to apply sun screen and wear a head cover, there is a lot of trail in direct sun and the ending through the sugar cane fields was very exhausting. Generally REALLY recommend to visit. The money is worth it.

We went for the Open track where you can explore at your pace among the different tracks, which is 5, 13, 18 or 35km. These are same which is done for the trail. I suggest to call before going as it maybe be close on special occasion. The track is good for cycling also but riders should bring own bike.

Very nice wildlife reserve, providing beautiful views. You can hike on your own (5/13/18 km trail) or do a guided tour/4x4 tour (these definitely have to be booked in advance). Pity that the place is not promoted a bit more. If our host didn’t tell us to go, we wouldn’t know about it at all.

A natural place that has remain unspoiled for many years now, many endemic plants can be seen there such as: Bois de natte grande feuille, Bois canne, bois d'ebene noir, bois d'olive, bois tambour, takamaka, bois clou, Vacoas, Bois de natte petite feuille and many more, there are also endemic animals such as: The Kestrel. This place promote sustainable tourism in Mauritius. If you are someone that love nature this place is perfect for you.

Wunderschöne Rundeanderung, leider fast kein Schatten, daher 1 Stern Abzug.

Went there with a group of 120 children of Grade 4 & 5. Was told that no buses were available when went there but when booking was done 2 weeks before, it was said that there would be only 1 bus for at least 30 pupils. I was surprised to learn that other primary schools had the opportunity to travel by 2 or more buses for the track. Each pupil paid Rs 100 to visit but it only consisted of walking mostly across sugarcane fields. We were left on our own, not even with a map. No guides were available and no endemic animals could be seen. I expected some considerations for pupils of 8-10 years old. I know that it’s a trekking trip but being told that 1 bus would be available and none were given, some students couldn’t walk 5 km!!!

Amazing experience! I regret only spending 1 night at the lodge... Peace and quiet, beautiful visas of the valley, fun and educational excursions, special customer experience and great food!

Truly awesome experience. Lovely dinner in front of the fire pit. Mickael is very frendly and welcoming. He did everything to make our stay enjoyable. The floating breakfast, top! My only remark, if you could have a better Internet connection that would be perfect. I know we should reconnect with Nature, but it's hard to disconnect with Internet 😅 Thank you

This complex is a like a little farm where various trecks to Lion Mountain and the Ferney Nature Reserve depart. There is also a little restaurant. The tours are nice and range from beginner to advanced for anything between 25-35 USD. In any case, bring your mosquito repellent. Also, watch out for the weather as during and after rains, the more difficult tracks become unavailable. You get to see waterfalls, local plantd and nurseries, and also bird feedings and land turtles.

Top place to visit, which was crucially saved from devastation by an unnecessary road project many years ago. The road would have brought no benefits to the region while the valley does.

A bit off the beaten track so if you are looking for that experience you can share and feel fairly sure no one else would have done it then this might be for you. Just North of Mahebourg, the new restaurant lies on the right of the road while the turning into the reserve is a little further down the road on the left. It has that warm feeling you sometimes get from a small enterprise or family run company. I opted for the hike which involved a truck drive of about ½ mile into the reserve to the head of the trial. The guide then took me through the forest to be met the other side by the truck and driver who took us back. I did not time it, but I think it was about 1 ½ hours which is very long for the distance we covered but the guide filled the time and made the experience very interesting. I got absolutely soaked twice on my hike as the weather that week was foul, but I loved every minute of it (nice warm rain) The guide had obviously taken the time to prepare which was great. To get the most out of this trip be prepared to ask questions and you’ll love it. So the big question, if I returned to Mauritius would it be on my list? Yes definitely

It is, after all, for a good cause. One of the rare chances to see a Mauritian hawk. (Original) Schöner Park, Personal sehr freundlich, private Touren sind nicht mehr gestattet.
