Amazing experience and a must do for any tourist visiting Mauritus. I’m saying experience and not food since it’s truly a Mauritus experience. Starting from the drive to this beautiful place. You have to take a very narrow road to reach the house/restaurant. We thought we had the wrong direction but you have to drive all the way in the narrow road to reach their garden. The owner was amazing and understanding in terms of finding our way. She recommended we try all of the dishes so that what we did. We tried the fish, octopus, veal and chicken. Everything was delicious even though I enjoyed the seafood dishes more. The atmosphere at the establishment is part of the experience and it’s so serene. Highly recommend the place for the experience.

Good food , good customer service with dedicated attention by the charming ladies. The dishes are tasty and typically from the mauritian culture. The surprise is the octopus soup. Affordable price and peaceful environment

What an experience! I truly felt like I had a taste of Mauritius at this place, highly recommend it. You will need to book in advance but it is worth it. The dishes we had were like comfort food, but the flavours were unreal. There are a limited number of dishes to choose from, which I think is good as they can concentrate on maximising flavour for each dish. Snacks are complimentary, and tasted amazing! We were given something similar to a Bombay mix, banana chips and fried fritters. For the mains, we had a range of stews and curries, mainly containing fish and chicken, but also had some vegetarian sides consisting of kidney beans, lentils and other veggies. We were stuffed after the mains, but we made space for dessert! We were given Banana Tart, some sort of flapjack and papaya covered in syrup. I have to say, this was the perfect end to the meal. The people serving us were a delight, and felt so grateful for them sharing their stories. If you want to experience authentic Mauritian cuisine, this is the place to go!

Excellent "table d'hôte" Mauritian Creole style. The food is very good, the hosts very nice and the garden a marvel. Only opened for lunch though.

Highly recommend this little gem of creole cuisine, especially if you’re on the scenic Tea route! The owner and service are sweet and welcoming, the food is delicious typical creole dishes, all in really nice surroundings and decor. They only open for lunch, during weekdays. They also open for lunch one Saturday per month which you can check on their facebook. Recommended to book as it is often full.

The mom and daughter team that run this quirky restaurant are lovely people. They took the time to explain how every delicious dish was prepared, and also how they made their own rum used in the dessert. It was great to come on a day they don't cater to group.

As a local, you don't often go to places labelled as 'traditional' and come out feeling satisfied like you were at home. Escale Créole was truly authentic and took me back to my grandma gato coco. While maintaining friendly and authentic Mauritian vibes, the owners and the staff served high quality food. Everything was delicious and the place was enchanting. You forgot where you were. Thank you for this amazing experience, i will be back.

(Translated by Google) Typical Creole restaurant. Pleasant and tastefully decorated garden. Every time I go to Mauritius, I try to come and have lunch there. It is essential to book !!! Discover the Creole cuisine with the smile and the explanations of the owner and her mother. To recommend ! (Original) Restaurant typiquement créole. Jardin agréable et décoré avec goût . Great Creole food experience, restaurant set in a lovely garden but a bit of a job to find if you don't know where it is. Staff are ever so friendly and aim to enhance your Creole food experience. Parking about 60 meters from restaurant. Restrooms available on sight.

A hidden gem! Great food and nice variety of local dishes that come in reasonably priced set menus. Highly recommended if you want to try the local creole cuisine in a charming setup. I would have added a 6th star for the host!

This restaurant is a true hidden gem, food is delicious. The cuisine is all local food, with a good variety of Mauritian specialities. The decor is also very lovely. Owner is very nice, taking time to explain the menu before you choose and once the food has arrived. As starters you get Mauritian snacks such as mourkou. However the other staff were barely engaging into conversation with us. Luckily the owner came and helped us to go though the menu. The menu is also accompanied by dessert.

  • 4/5 Khevina W. 3 years ago on Google
Best place to eat Mauritian food! I absolutely loved the salted fish curry, lentils and the octopus curry. What I loved as well is the place which is very very exotic and the pineapple juice which was used as a welcoming drink. Therefore concept wise it’s an 10 out of 10. However the food and drinks are quite expensive. But I would not mind pay to go there.

This place is fully booked in advance for a reason: it's fantastically delicious! It feels less like a restaurant and more like being invited into someone's home for a family meal. While dining essentially in their backyard, we truly felt at home while eating fabulous Mauritian food. Eating here was our most viscerally memorable Mauritius experience! 🇲🇺

First of all, the beautiful garden in which the restaurant is set is a great experience already on its own. Then the food is another chapter. All made and served with love and care, well explained. Prices are totally fine but are presented without VAT so expect a higher bill in the end.

The love the owners of the restaurant have for the food, carefully prepared and presented, is so apparent. The joy and pride is so lovely to see. We felt honoured eating there. The staff are attentive. My son adored the ourite daube and he was offered a second helping even without asking. The setting is peaceful and the decor has many nostalgic touches. Really recommend this place for a taste of good delicious Mauritian home cooking. The staff are so accommodating. However if you do have very specific needs, email ahead.

Incredible and authentic experience! We came with friends to enjoy a traditional lunch. The restaurant was full (reservation needed) and had an amazing ambiance. Next to us were tourists, locals but as well business people. We tried the Degustation menu which assembled all traditional dishes. Every single dish was excellent. The service was very friendly and joyful. I would recommend this place for an authentic restaurant and amazing food in a natural and beautiful place.

Beautiful setting in a well-kept garden and excellent service. The food is a generous gastronomic journey for tourists, which seems to be the main clientele, but somehow mild and lacking character for Mauritian standards. The hosts accommodated well-thought and well-prepared vegetarian options for us and made a small discount from the usual menu price including meat. Come prepared to spend around Rs 1,000 per person.

THE GOOD: Tasty food Lovely staff THE NOT SO GOOD: Middle of nowhere This was a lovely restuarant to visit and to taste local cuisine. The owner and staff were all very friendly and attentive. My wife and I went for different dishes and I went for the selction of different dishes which had some really tasty dishes and some not to my taste, but I reiterate that this is more to my taste buds than the dish not being good. They are happy to give more rice or vegetables if needs be. But we could barely finish our food. Well worth a visit if in Mauritius and looking for homestyle cooking. It is a bit out of the way but most visitors would have cars when they come to Mauritius so not a big deal.
