Another amazing beauty of Mauritius We visited Grand River South East Waterfall whilst on a 5 island boat trip. It was stunning. Unfortunately it can only be viewed on a boat trip. Would recommend a visit to everyone!

To be honest, this is part of the stop of our boat ride to the ile aux cerfs island tour. This is a very tiny fall and nothing special other than giving you a closer look and view of the fall. Nothing to be wow!

An impressive and several small waterfalls. The only handicap is the path to the goal. A steep trail leads down - see photos. Without a guide, I would not have found the “waterfall”.

One of the best waterfalls on the island for sure. Heading there by boat is absolutely worth it. The rocky scenery with a few monkeys here and there made it fun to roam around. The only issue we faced was having to wait since there were other boats in front of us. Overall, nice scenery and an absolute gem of a waterfall, even when half dry.

You can see the waterfall from the bottom with the short boat tour or you can go to on the top. Entrance to the top is in the field of sugarcanes and you can skip small path very easily. It could be bit slipery going through there, but the view is good. If you want to see monkeys, you should choose boat trip. And the view is better from the bottom.

From our catamaran ride, we had this experience of the waterfall. Beautiful setting. Wildlife on both sides.

Didn’t take the boat. Instead parked nearby and walked down to the falls. Bit of a scramble but not to bad. Falls were pretty cool but more so the bats! Must have been hundreds roosting the trees and 100+ flying around at one point. Very cool.

It's an experience to go down in wet weather, going back is relatively easy. Maybe it's good to wear long pants, there were millions of mosquitoes and off didn't help that much. But it was worth looking at this natural spectacle from above.

Ok first off follow the instructions on the previous post they are spot on. I included (picture) the entrance way to walk down. Watch your footing it is very slippery but once you get to the bottom, it’s a fantastic view you can watch the boats looking up at you in disbelief this small 30 walk saved about ₹600 in a boat ride that takes 25 minutes. I am sure once they figure out that people can go to this trail. They will find a way to make money off of it just like they do the boats which in my opinion is a waste of time good views, just watch your footing it can be very slippery, not advice for older folks or younger children if that’s the case, then take the boats

Went there by foot. The infrastructure definitely needs some work to be done in order to allow proper access to the waterfall by foot from the street above. The view was worth it. Make sure to get a mosquito spray! There are literally like a millions of blood thirsty mosquitoes.

Extraordinary time I spent in this beautiful waterfall 🤩 You can hear the sound of nature and enjoy the amazing atmosphere 😍 The water current is strong and cold 🥶 Swimming here is a great idea and enjoying the natural massage under the waterfalls 👌🏼 The waterfall can be reached through the ocean by using boats or from the upstream by parking your car on the road 🙌🏻 Absolutely recommended ✌🏼

Our plans for visiting Mauritius were nil. We simply wanted to get away to a far away place, enjoy the resort, relax, and take some much needed time out; however, that was put on the back burner when we were invited on a luxury full-day speedboat tour with One Love Co Ltd, and we were so pleased we took them up on the offer. One of many stops, Grand River South East Waterfall was the highlight of our trip. Slowly sailing along the river under a canopy of trees we, were met by this stunning waterfall, where our skipper expertly manoeuvred the boat close enough for us to take pictures and feel the spray of the water. As we made our way back down the river, we made a short stop to feed the wild monkeys, where I was doubled over laughing by a terrified passenger after one of the largest monkeys of the troop decided to board the boat 🤣🤣. It was the best way to end on what was simply an outstanding tour.

Iconic place of this part of Mauritius (and the island in general). Best to visit after the rain season (January-March), in November/December the waterfall won't be as spectacular as we are only just emerging from the dry part of the year, volume of water will be low.

The place was nice and calm. We didn't see a sign board indicating towards it. The road down wasn't difficult to find. If you're passing by, it's definitely worth a stop.

Not bad … but the path down is very risky and slippery! You will find the path after the roundabout a few meters behind on the right side (you can park your car on the other side).

Nice place to visit. It's a part of most boat trips. And you can spot some monkeys

  • 3/5 Filip De B. 8 months ago on Google • 248 reviews
A small waterfall, which is an apparent must stop photo opp. You have to switch to local boats to visit. As a result, there are too many boats requiring a queue. You can stop to try to see monkeys in the bush, but be careful as they are wild animals.

Pretty hidden , have to park on the side of the road , then walk down a dirt track and then down a rocky hill through lots of undergrowth ( douse yourself liberally in mosquito spray 🦟 as they are everywhere.) It's not a difficult walk as lots of rocks for footing. Then it opens out into the amazing waterfall ...

The place is beautiful, but it takes a while to get there, and when we get to the waterfall we don't get off the boat, and we have very little time to admire it and take photos. I don't think we spent even a minute in front of the waterfall, we have to leave so the other boats can get close.

Very beautiful waterfall! We came here by the short trail from the main road - see the photos. We were on the Ile aux Cerfs, where they offering me this waterfall like boat trip costs 1000RS/person - I would never pay for this that money, it's not worth it. So, we see it free, from the top and front. Path to waterfalls by hike is like 10mins from the main road.

  • 5/5 Iris “Mind of a Hitchhiker” V. 2 years ago on Google
Nice waterfall but I didn't swim on the top because there were monkeys around. The hike down to the top side of the waterfall is a little steep but doable. Might be different after rain though

  • 5/5 Bryan G. 4 years ago on Google
We hiked down to the waterfall from the little dirt road right off the main highway. It is a steep climb down but very close. We saw others approach by boat. Nice falls for sure!

  • 4/5 Tomas F. 4 years ago on Google
Traveled by speed boat to the waterfall. We saw some monkeys on the way which was nice. A real plus was that you get really close to the waterfall. A downside was that is was somewhat small and the water was brown.

Amazing place to see the beauty of nature and the amazing music of water flow. Alas water level was low due to less rainfall this summer. But in general it is worth to visit. The water can be viewed by boat or by foot via a road only few knows.

Boats line up here full of tourists. Macaque monkeys on the sides and it’s safe to feed them but don’t touch them :). Ask the captain to get you closer to the land and climb the cliff and jump in the waterfall if you dare. Many people were doing it but do it responsibly please.

  • 4/5 Uwe E. 2 years ago on Google
Moderately impressive waterfall on the east coast of Mauritius, which is a pleasure to take along when visiting the Ile aux Cerfs. Macaques can sometimes be seen in the shore area not far from the waterfall

A very nice spot to visit in Mauritius. You get to see the boundary of the salty ocean water and the fresh water from the river. The vegetation is thick and a home to monkeys. The waterfall is awesome.

We took the boat from the nearby dock. The boat goes to the waterfall, and thee you can step outside of the boat and climb the rocks around the waterfall. Very nice experience, the surrounding nature is beautiful.

Well worth a visit. If going overland, be warned that the descent from the road, while short, is a bit precarious, especially if wet. Not an option if you have any mobility problems. Once down you have a great view from the rocks (also a bit precarious) and it's fairly impressive.

It has an amazing view. You can take a speed boat to see this place. You cannot take your eyes off it. Its a famous tourist attraction and lot of people come here to witness this natural beauty. Visited this place few years back and hope to visit the same in near future.

Amazing waterfall! Use Google map location to find the spot to park on the side of the road. Steep walk down but not difficult - a few shrines around too! Saw people on an organised boat tour coming up the river which looked fun.

It's a beautiful hidden waterfall. A true gem to nature vibes. It's accessible by both both and land. Taking the boat you will experience going through the dark blue large river, while the boat guide why he has to steer a lot to avoid big boulders underneath the water. If you prefer being on top of the waterfall, you have to look for the small sugarcane road that leads to it. Highly recommended. Peace unlocked!! 🤗
