Takamaka wine tasting was one of the first things on our 'to do / see list' for our trip to Mauritius haha! We are Austrians so coming from a wine culture to Mauritius and seeing how this family owned business managed to make wine out of lychees, is remarkable! The tour was very lovely and informative - the wine tasting afterwards (as expected) very delicious! You can smell the lychee out of every wine and the taste is great - everyone finds the perfectly suited wine for him/herself and it doesn't have to be sweet (although the eclipse is really good :)) - the aperichy rosé is very unique in taste. But try all of them! :)) It's a pity that they do not export their wine but fyi you are allowed to fly with 4 bottles per person :P we also had the luck of meeting the owner - very friendly! Don't miss out on visiting the winery, you will regret it! As an add on you can also have some light lunch there - the salad bowls are huge :))

An In-Depth Journey into the World of Wine TAKAMAKA BOUTIQUE WINERY I recently had the pleasure of visiting Takamaka Boutique Winery, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all my expectations. Tucked away in a picturesque corner of wine country, this boutique winery is truly a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike. In the world of wine, where grape varieties often steal the spotlight, there exists a hidden gem that is as rare as it is enchanting: lychee wine. Among the producers of this delightful nectar, TAKAMAKA Boutique Winery has emerged as a standout, capturing the essence of the tropical lychee fruit in a bottle. My recent visit to TAKAMAKA Winery was a journey into the heart of lychee wine craftsmanship, and I am thrilled to share this review of their Lychee Made Wine. TAKAMAKA Boutique Winery is nestled in a lush paradise, surrounded by vibrant tropical foliage. The location alone evokes a sense of serenity and escape from the ordinary. As I approached the winery, I was struck by the tranquil beauty of the landscape, which perfectly mirrors the exotic nature of the lychee fruit. The winery's architecture blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, featuring open-air pavilions that allow guests to immerse themselves in the tropical ambiance. The use of local materials and craftsmanship adds to the authenticity of the experience. TAKAMAKA Winery's lychee wine is a testament to the harmonious blend of traditional winemaking techniques and innovative approaches tailored to the unique characteristics of lychees. The winemaking process is a meticulous endeavor that begins with the careful extraction of the lychee fruit's juicy flesh. Extraction: Ripe lychees are hand-picked and processed with precision to extract the pure essence of the fruit. This gentle handling ensures that the vibrant lychee flavors are preserved. Fermentation: The lychee juice undergoes fermentation, where natural yeasts work their magic, transforming sugars into alcohol. The result is a wine that embodies the spirit of the lychee, with its natural sweetness and tropical aromas. Aging: Some batches of lychee wine are aged in barrels to develop complexity, while others are celebrated in their youthful, fruit-forward state. This flexibility allows TAKAMAKA to offer a range of lychee wines to cater to different preferences. Blending: The winemaker's expertise shines in the blending process, where different batches are harmoniously combined to achieve the desired balance of flavors and aromas. TAKAMAKA Boutique Winery's Lychee Made Wine is a symphony of tropical flavors and fragrances. It boasts a flavor profile that is quintessentially lychee. Taste: The first sip is a revelation. The wine's sweetness is balanced, akin to the natural sweetness of a perfectly ripe lychee. It's not cloying but pleasantly fruity, with the unmistakable taste of lychee dominating the palate. In the world of wine, TAKAMAKA Boutique Winery's Lychee Made Wine is a rare and enchanting discovery. It embodies the tropical spirit of the lychee fruit with its captivating aromas and sweet, fruity flavors. A visit to this winery is not just about the wine; it's a journey into the heart of lychee wine craftsmanship and tropical paradise. From the picturesque lychee orchard to the meticulous winemaking process and the final, exquisite product, TAKAMAKA Winery has mastered the art of creating a tropical escape in a glass. Whether you're an adventurous wine enthusiast or seeking a unique and exotic experience, A bottle of TAKAMAKA's Lychee Made Wine is a must-try. It's a testament to the beauty and versatility of lychees, I must say ECLIPSE is my favourite and a reminder that wine can transport you to far-off places with each sip.

Lovely place to stop in while visiting Mauritius. The staff were friendly and attentive as they needed. The hallways and the gift shop are decorated with beautiful artwork from the owners wife, I definitely would have loved to have bought a piece had my budget allowed for it. The food was fresh and delicious. I had a salad followed by two chocolate puddings because the first one was so delicious I just had to have a second and because yolo. The wine, you would never know was made entirely from lychee. Sweet yes of course, but palatable, fresh and clean. I left with three bottles but would have left with more had my alcohol limit back into Australia allowed for it. Overall great place for a little day visit and very reasonably priced.

Decent experience. Friendly small tour which ends with wine tasting. You will taste 4 different lycee wines and each of them is very different. Cozy atmosphere and reasonable price.

You can taste three different lychee wines for a fixed price. They are really good and the host is super friendly and has great knowledge about the products and how they make them. The place is calm and comfy, it’s recommended to visit.

I had my doubts but was excited to try this Mauritian wine made from litchis ... got to say I love it... the Rose' is gorgeous and not too sweet - what a beautiful summer drink. PLEASE BRING TO CAPE TOWN

Excellent winery. Ambience and beauty are worth the visit. The 4 wines we tasted were excellent ranging from dry to sweet.

The staff is great! The owners are friendly! The drinks are amazing! White and Rosé usually leave a bitter after taste, not litchi wine. Eclipse is my favourite for desserts!

We didn't make a reservation, as we were told wasnt needed. Tasted 4 wines, they were nice. But the tour was 10 minutes and felt very rushed.

I was unable to do the tour due to an injury so I was treated to a lovely tasting experience with an informative explanation of the history and fermentation process delivered by the nicest lady in beautiful impeccable French accented English.

Nice place to visit on Mauritius! Beautiful winery, lovely wine, very friendly people and good food. You can do a tour with wine tasting or only wine tasting (we did the last).

Lovely place! Definitely one of our top experiences during our stay in Mauritius and highly recommendable for wine lovers. They took time to explain all the vines and to talk about the business, even after the tour through the business history. Great customer service with delicious and unique wines.

Great wine and great staff. My family and I came out for a tasting. We had some amazing lyche wine and a charcuterie board that blew my mind. I highly recommend a visit! I wish they shipped internationally 😭

Lovely place. However, the vegetarian menu has to be reviewed. Wouldn't bring a vegetarian person there.

A wonderful little boutique winery to visit, very clean and snazzy. They make their wine entirely from litchi. They do charge for a tour of the winery, which is a bit much, it should be free. Lots of parking, but I would take a tour bus or taxi so you can fully enjoy the tastings.

All we can say is wow! My husband and I stopped by Takamaka after reading about their wine in the flight magazine on the way to Mauritius. It did not disappoint! We enjoyed a lovely tour, had a wonderful tasting followed by a delicious lunch made with fresh ingredients and even got to meet both of the owners. They both were so lovely and it is clear they take immense pride in what they do. The winery and surroundings are so elegant and the wines were delicious and developed. We highly recommend the rose. Takamaka winery is a must do for any wine lover visiting Mauritius.
