Neither the lake nor the temple looks spectacular. What makes it worth visiting is the atmosphere and magnitude of statues with two huge ones visible from far away.

We only looked at the gigantic statues. It's interesting, but we are spoiled from temples in Thailand. We were there in the late afternoon and we were completely alone. No tourists, no people. Only us and 20 monkeys. 😄

Gigantic statues of the supreme god and his consort in Hinduism erected in honor of the Ganges River and a local saints lake on the island of Mauritius.

Pilgrim for Indians. It was very educational to know and understand a little about how Hindu’s perform their rituals.

Awesome Place. Beautiful weather and good ambience. Indians will truly enjoy this place. The Giant statue of Shiva is truly something to behold. The photos just can't explain the huge size. This place is very peaceful and very auspicious location here you can see biggest lord shiva statue and statue have a fountain that releases water from lord shiva. In india this river called The GANGA. It is nearly 80m high. One of the beautiful symbols of The Ganga, where thousands of Hindus come on pilgrimage once a year.

Great to see the temple. It was very peaceful and great to see this out of India. Close to the black river gorge national park.

If all you do is visit the statues just to witness their magnitude, it will be worth it. We did not visit the temple as it was raining.

This is a Hindu religious site which attracts over 600k visitors during the annual festival of the night of Shiva I think. The temple is situated in the Great Bassin not so far from the Black River Gorges. The temple has huge hand-crafted monuments of the Hindu God, Lord Shiva and several other deities. Behind the temple is the holy lake which is used for prayers only and not fishing or other secular activities. We were able to enter the temple and watch the religious rites as our tour guide explained the powers of each of the Hindu gods. It was an interesting tour. Although we were told that there were monkeys who come to eat the fruits left by worshippers but it was rainy and we couldn't see the monkeys but in all, it was a fantastic tour. I highly recommend it, and it's always good to learn about other religions.

We found this place somehow very interesting. The guide explained the story behind, the symbolism, the meaning of all details. The large statues and the nearby temple are worth a visit. The temple is on a large lake that the legent tells being connected to the Gange river in India. Ma favourite God? Ganesh, the God of intelligence! The place is full of tourists but has its charme. I recommend it.

Really beautiful and peaceful place. Lots of stunning murti’s in the mandirs and all set around a beautiful lake. Just breathtaking and so serene. Definitely worth a visit! The giant Shiv statue was huge!
