Trou
aux
Cerfs
is
located in
the
heart
of
Curepipe,
there
you
will
find
a
dormant
volcano
surrounded
by
nature;
a
vast
area
of
lush
forest
consisting
of
indigenous
plant
species,
some
giant
green
pine
trees,
lush
greenery,
trees,
flowers
and
a
small
lake
at
the
center,
I
have
never
seen
such
beauty
before.
If
it
wasn’t
a
dormant
volcano,
I
would
have
found
my
way
down
to
lie
on
the
untamed
grasses
and
day
dream
about
my
prince
charming
but
reality
can
be
a
pain
in
the
butt
sometimes.
This
is
one
of
the
famous
natural
tourist
attractions
in
Mauritius,
the
dormant
volcanic
crater
is
around
605
meters
above
sea
level,
with
a
diameter
of
350
meters
and
a
depth
of
around
100
meters.
Interestingly,
Trou
aux
Cerfs
is
also
known
as
‘Murr’s
Volcano’.
It
is
believed
that
the
Trou
aux
Cerfs
volcano
erupted
once
and
has
remained
dormant
for
the
last
700,000
years;
experts
believe
that
there
is
a
potential
chance
for
it
to
become
active
again.
Here,
you
can
get
some
souvenirs
from
the
locals
at
a
very
cheap
and
affordable
rate
and
you
get
a
spectacular
view
of
some
part
of
Mauritius
from
the
view
point
of
the
crater,
you
also
get
to
see
the
majestic
view
of
the
Rempart
Mountain,
Trois
Mamelles,
and
the
Port-Louis-
Moka
mountain
range.
There
is
also
their
meteorological centre
(radar
station)
close
to
this
tour
site
so
you
can
enjoy
the
view
of
the
blue
building
and
the
blue
clear
sky.
Team
fitfam,
this a
favourite
spot
for
joggers
and
walkers
–
you
get
lovely
views
of
the
plateau.
There
are
benches
where
you
can
rest
and
reflect,
and
a
radar
station
that
keeps
an
electronic
eye
on
cyclone
activity.
