I have been to 100's of Indian restaurants across the globe. Sabor has the best Tandoori mixed grill, fried fish and palak soup. We ordered them extra spicy. Service led by Ganesh and Teresa was the icing on the cake. Food and service was so good we went there 3 nights in a row.

Very friendly staff, super tasty food, nice atmosphere and music. I'd say this is a paradise for vegetarians. Many many options. In fact, the two full menu options are vegetarian ❤️ love it.

We went here everyday during our stay in Madeira and loved the food. The chefs here are from India and the food is really authentic. Ganesh is an awesome host and did a great job of taking care of us. I will definitely recommend this to folks visiting Madeira and staying near Funchal.

Excellent customer service. Go hungry, generous portions. Delicious food at this tucked away Indian restaurant. Worth seeking out when you're in Funchal. Dal Saag picture.

Absolutely lovely staff and delicious food. Vegetarian and vegan options. They cater for those who want mild or spicy dishes. Great service. Perfect balance of attentive without over doing it. Incredible food. Best meal we had during our trip. Would very much recommend and found the pricing to be reasonable too. :)

Easily the best Indian food I’ve had in Madeira and one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The staff were also very nice and the open indoor/outdoor vibe was great. Great way to end our stay in this beautiful island!

Fantastic restaurant for vegetarians with very welcoming and friendly staff! We ended up going there 3 times during our 7 day holiday. I think this might be one of the best Indian restaurants in the EU. | Update - just have been to one of the best Indian restaurants in Munich and I have to say: I really miss the superb food of Sabor da India! (You guys are definitely a reason to stay in Funchal again 👍)

Fabulous food and flavour. Really impressed with the whole package, great service, fantastic Indian food, authentic flavours and reasonable prices. Really happy with out night out after a disappointing meal at another Indian restaurant up the road! The owner was visible and interested in how the food was, great hosts with lovely Tawny Port nightcap 😀

Very good service. The staff and the owner were kind. The food came quick and was tasteful. The waiter made very good follow-ups and made sure everything was going well. Me and my wife came back the next day. Even tough the restaurant was full, the service was perfect! I recommend it !

Hidden away up a steep walkway, this Indian restaurant serves up large portions at a reasonable price. Flavour profile was a little lacking for my taste but, still a decent option if you are in the mood for Indian food.

This restaurant had excellent customer service. I would advise to go hungry as the portions are very generous. The food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is a bit of the beaten track but really really worth going to. I am a vegetarian and the flavours in everything was amazing especially the spicy vegetable korma. The owner stood at our table and chatted with us and made us feel so welcome to his restaurant. The price of the meal was great too. Wish we had this wonderful restaurant at in Ireland. I would like to say compliments to the wonderful chefs. If you love good Indian food Sabor da India is not to be missed while in Funchal.

Uh…. where to start with this terrible Friday dinner in Madeira? I reserved a table online at 12:00 noon, the table was booked for 20:30, we arrived at 20:29 and all the tables were occupied, we were told sorry, we’ll wait until there are tables. (How can we wait? I made a reservation and was counting on something?) At 20:45 someone left and we were given a table, after 10 minutes they brought us a menu, after 2 minutes we were ready to place an order, but they came up to us 10 minutes later and They asked what we would drink? to which we replied that we wanted to eat, but they refused to order food and now they are only accepting orders for drinks. After 5 minutes, a man came and took an order for food. This is where the very strange wait for the order began, the salad was brought after 1 hour and 20 minutes!!! The main food arrived after 1 hour and 35 minutes. The food was mediocre and not worth its inflated rating; this establishment deserves a 4.0 rating and no more. A few days ago, we ate MUCH better Indian food in our neighborhood than here. I don't recommend it, it's a tourist trap!

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and the (vegetarian) dishes were very delicious. Also away from the main street which is great. Would definitely go again.

Welcome to Siddik’s house! You’ll be treated like family and if you have interest in the art of Indian cooking Siddik will be happy to fill you in on his secrets. He gave me the recipe to his very own chutney but I won’t share it, you have to ask him yourself! Here you will receive one of the best meals you can have on Madeira. My girlfriend and I agreed to visit for our second time on the last evening of our vacation - after two weeks of sampling all the local spots in Funchal and beyond. Don’t miss out!

Fantastic flavours, value and atmosphere. With so many monotonous and overpriced restaurants in the hotel district, this place is a must for anyone staying in the area. Clearly customers return here year on year as we saw most patrons literally hugging the staff and owner as they entered. As it's slightly off the main road it's also quieter outside and with a better sea view by the window. The best restaurant we have eaten at in our 2 weeks in Madeira.

We come here every year when we visit Madeira. They always remember us! The food never fails to deliver. Delicious !

You cannot get a better meal here, than anywhere on the island! Superb! We picked up a takeaway at lunchtime, for dinner tonight, as we didn't want to drive. Having a Sabor Indian watching the sun go down in our garden, made our wedding anniversary extremely special, the flavours and quality, is second to none. Thank you all!

Great food, amazing atmosphere and service! Wonderful to chat with the owner (Siddique) and learn about the dishes. King prawns and fish curry were awesome! Also loved aloo tiki and chai. Dining with a view of the Atlantic Ocean! A magical experience. ❤️❤️

One of the most authentic Indians I've had and in Lisbon of all places ! The owner was amazing and so attentive, as was our server. A must try if you're looking for quality Indian food, would return again and again

Hidden gem right next to Funchal. My Boyfriend and I said it was the best Indian food that we ever ate in Europe. Vegetarians and Vegans have a lot of options here. The Sangria was delicious as well. Very friendly staff, everything was perfect!

Very good Indian restaurant! Maybe the best on the island! Portions are large, taste very good! Plenty of veggie options! Sadly no seats outside to sit with our dogs 🙀

That was horrible experience We wait our dishes 1:30h 😳 We order dishes and they re not spice they re sweet. Nobody don’t ask us we love more spice or not. The lamp is not delicious. We sit around the table and wait the waiter 30mins we order starters and dishes and we wait it 90mins. Really????? I’m in shock. We were the Indian restoration near by this one and there was great here no.

Delicious food, amazing service, beautiful restaurant and affordable prices. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Madeira and feel like a little spice. The waitors are all polite and lovely. The food is exceptional. Highly recommend. It is also halal so a huge bonus !!!!

Kympin paikka. Kaikki kohdalla - maut, tunnelma, hinta... Yksi parhaista kokemuksista Madeira matkan aikana. Vahva suositus!

It's worth the walk up the little hill. Food was delicious, although it was not spicy or heavy seasoned enough for myself, but everyone else was satisfied with the flavors. Enjoy

Great service and delicious food! We had the chicken tikka jalfrezy and lamb madras and quite honestly some of the best Indian food ever had.

Food quality was exceptional, some of the best Indian food we've ever had. The service might not be the most friendly, but it's attentive and efficient. Affordability is through the roof, we would have easily paid double and still be satisfied.

Excellent!! Premium quality Indian food with exceptional service and friendly staff. Our waitress Theresa was very attentive and warm and made the experience even more pleasant. We stayed in Madeira for a week and made sure to come back to this restaurant multiple times. Would definitely recommend.

This is an absolutely fantastic place, hard to put it in words. I've been eating a lot of indian food before, and been traveling for 6 months in India when time was young. This food is so delicious, flavourful and perfectly spiced that it almost brings a tear to my eye. The staff is very friendly and funny. They have great recommendations, and makes sure that you have a fantastic experience while visiting. You really feel at home when visiting, and the portions are big so there are no worries at all that you will leave hungry. Me and my family visited 4 times during our stay, and was always very happy and satisfied. We tried many dishes and starters - and all of them were very good. Everything from jalfreezy, tikka masala, vindaloo, seehk kabab , korma, bahjis, raita, chicken and lamb. The mango ice cream is crazy good. I can't think about anything negative at all to say about this place to be honest. If you enjoy indian food you definitely should visit. I know I will next time I'm around.. (ps, the vindaloo is spicy - don't worry! )

Absolutely the best Indian food I have had in along time. Went twice in the week. Lovely owners who chatted to us. Large portions. We had four poppadoms and pickle tray between two, followed by the tandoori mixed grill, rice, garlic naan, saag aloo and tarka dal as sides and there was more than enough for two. Plus we had four pints of beer between us and two complementary brandies each and change out of €50.00. absolutely fabulous. We didn't book on either occasion, but in the height of the season it would be advisable to save disappointment

Lovely food, great service! I’m always cautious to try Indian/Pakistani food abroad because I am Pakistani but I must say very very nice, perfectly spice! If you want true authentic Indian/Pakistani food look no further!

Wow Good job guys We came in, no booking, bang in the middle of dinner time. They squeezed us a table (even though realistically they shouldn't have). They.. were.. stomped.. When the food came though?! I was transported.. I have spent many beloved months of my life in India. It was great to be able to visit again from the comfort of Madeira.

Wow!! Great taste, high quality food. I tried three Indian restaurants in Funchal and this is the best by far. "Knowing my curries", this gets full 5 stars. Also, the take away boxes are of generous size. All in all, great experience. Thank you to the owner.

After a late arrival in Madeira, we just needed a quick bite close to the hotel. The closest restaurant with high ratings still open was an Indian restaurant. The food turned out to be very, very good, indeed! Quite close to actual Indian food in... India. Who would have thought of that?
