There is a sign on the road indicating the falls; once there you have to park the car on the road rest area and walk to reach the entrance. The Metche Falls are considered as a place of sacrifice to remove the curse and lament the dead according to local beliefs. On the ground, at the entrance to the site, there is salt, coins, palm oil and even meal left there as offerings. At the moment we were admiring the falls surrounded by lush greenery; we saw a beautiful rainbow. It truly added a little je ne sais quoi that made this visit a magic moment. It would be a really great place for tourists and locals, but unfortunately the Chinese only steal the water here and don't invest in the infrastructure. This makes it very littered and the descent is even dangerous. It urgently needs to be renovated. In addition, the traditional ceremonies are carried out with plastic bottles and therefore environmental pollution is serious. A ban on plastic should be imposed by the government to protect this place. Unfortunately that has nothing to do with animism.

The "chutes de la métché" waterfall is a sacred place that is still actively used. Offerings are made there, so you should have a certain amount of respect. Great excursion destination, explanations about its religious function would be nice.

(Translated by Google) Les Chutes de la Metché offers a beautiful view through its waters. A whole story is told around these falls. - The French colonists who repressed the fight waged by the maquisards of the Union of the populations of Cameroon (Upc) by precipitating them at the bottom of the falls. - The height, the power of the water and the impact of the fall on the rocks gave no chance of survival to the victims, and their bodies were dragged by the water, in this way, the colonist was not embarrassed by bodies bothersome. - This hasty extermination lasted until the day when a brave fighter, by the name of Fossi Jacob, decided not to die like a coward, without fighting. When he was rushed to the bottom, he grabbed onto his white executioner and dragged him into the fall. This is how he saved his comrades who were waiting their turn, and put an end to the massacre. - That the populations of the West practice an ancestor worship and honor their skulls with offerings and prayers. However, the victims' skulls could not be recovered by the families. It is in memory of all those who left without leaving a trace that the banks of the river above the falls are today transformed into a traditional place of worship. The variety of traditional ingredients found on the premises testifies to the attendance. Salt, jujube, palm oil, hens, soaps, ... are some products brought here as an offering to these ancestors, so that they do not forget the living. The Metché Falls are also a place of purification. Access to the foot of the falls is now facilitated by fitted stairs, but which stop at a respectable distance, nevertheless allowing visitors to contemplate the falls. To be in contact with the water at this place and to have access to the cave, a ladder has been lowered, which especially allows the marabouts and exorcists accompanied by their clients to go beyond. It is after descending from this ladder that the universe of the mystic begins. Ceremonies must take place in the middle of the night, discretion required. To complete the work of purification begun in these waters of the Market, many people leave with cans of water.

(Translated by Google) Hardly accessible but very charming. A development would be welcome there. But it seems difficult given the mystical character given to this place by residents (Original) Difficilement accessible mais très charmant.

(Translated by Google) The Metché falls are almost roadside and completely free of access, no attraction around but the trip is worth it, they are magnificent and if you are lucky like me you will see a beautiful rainbow.
