This was much better than expected. Oryza is a very old but renovated house, full of character and little touches. Guest have full access to the common area, including the kitchen, where you can make yourself coffee or grab a beer from the fridge. There's a lawn with veggies, orange trees, a pool and outdoor tables. Really beautiful place, perfect for a relaxing stay off the beaten path. The owner Luis was beyond nice and welcoming, as was everyone else in the staff. Highly recommend, would for sure stay again.

Lidia is one of the best hosts we have encountered over many decades of a very high degree of international travel. The accommodation can accurately be described as quaint. The whole concept of looking after guests is as perfect as one may expect to get. The bed and bedding was of very high standard. The breakfast was supplemented by organic products from the property’s own garden. There is ample free parking very close by and the centre of town is a short drive away. I personally cannot believe how little they are charging for such a high quality product. I enjoyed my evening in their living room whilst my wife was resting due to a cold. The property is very inviting in every sense.

What an absolutely lovely time I had here. The rooms are prestine, very comfortable and spacious. The property is charming. You can pick fruit and vegetables from their garden; enjoy their cozy library or take a dip in their cute pool. Luis was always available and making sure all was taken care of. We were impressed by all the attention to detail. Breakfast is fresh, simple and delicious. They have around 5 rooms so it's also an amazing place to rent out completely for a small wedding or a weekend getaway with friends and family. I'll definitely be back.

The owner inherit the place and renovated it into a nice B&B. My young daughters loved the chickens and garden in th backyard. And th breakfast was very very good. The location is the low point: too far to walk to the center of Coimbra. You can hear a lot of the action in the other rooms and corridor (old house) and there is no sidewalk at the entrance (careful with traffic!), but if you have a car and are looking for a B&B with lots of character, this is a good one in Coimbra.

I would say nothing went wrong, we enjoyed a relaxing break and had all needed to the purpose: a silent and comfortable room, nice cable TV, a small pool to refesh, an outdoor area with animals and a vegetable garden. The space is nicely refurbished and clean. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. It is located just 10 mins drive from Coimbra downtown and far from crowded places (good to me). So, leaving without any disappointment nor disruption I have to rate it 5 stars.

Home away from home. 5 stars are not enough for Lydia and this beautiful warm place. Lydia made our stay so special with her genuine warmth and an eye for detail. Couldn’t fault the service! We travel a lot so understand what to expect , and this exceeded our expectations. A lot of the ingredients for breakfast , like the eggs , oranges, lemons etc etc are from their own garden. Thank you Lydia for making our stay so special.

If this place is available during your search for accomodation, book it immediately. Do not look any further. It is an absolute gem in every way and there is so much attention to detail. I wished that I had originally booked more nights at the beautifully restored quintalizinha! The rooms are impeccable and the access to other common areas, like the kitchen, salon, and the garden, gave my family and me the perfect balance of privacy and that feeling of home. The visionary personnel are very generous with their knowledge of where to go to dine and the places to visit in Coimbra. And the staff at Oryza are just top level. Breakfasts include fresh produce and eggs from their farm on the property and the best orange juice squeezed from their own oranges. Deserving of all of the FIVE star reviews they receive! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ortyza is the place for real Holiday vitamins! We had a wonderfull stay with our family of four with great personal attention and suggestions for sightseeing en restaurants. This green spot is a great place to relax and enjoy the hospitality of the Portugese people. And breakfast is just perfect! Thank you, Louis & co:).

First of all I like that Oryza Guest House is localized very close to Coimbra, a city that was on my bucket list for a while now, ever since I’ve seen some beautiful pictures on Pinterest of it. But I loved that it wasn’t in the city, far from the crowds, really remote. The house was built in 1918 and it is called Oryza as before it used to be a place where people were cultivating rice. The owners managed to keep the vintage aspect of the house and even some of the original wood floors and old pieces of furniture. Second, but actually the most important part for me was the yard they’ve had there. It was so beautiful and peaceful and for me looked like the perfect wedding venue. I loved the pool area with the outdoor bed that on the other side had some beautifully painted ceramic tiles, the orange trees and the vegetable garden they’ve had in the back were also amazing. The place gave me such a feeling of tranquility and it was a pleasure to return to this oasis after a day of wandering in the areas nearby.

Great service, with an incredible breakfast included in the price. They also let us bring our dog for only 8 extra euros, so that was perfect. The rooms were a little cold, and the location a bit far from the city center, but apart from that it was perfect

Charming suite and property. Owners very accommodating and informative. Quiet location but close enough to the old town and Universty by Uber.

One night in this beautiful house with small garden and farm. Cheerful owner met us and show the house. Told a history of the place. Garden in the yard is calm and refreshing. During the night birds had being singing beautiful songs. All dishes at the breakfast has an exceptional test and flavor. Highly recommend to visit this friendly place.

Our stay at The Oryza Guesthouse was delightful. Luis met us with a warm welcome. This is a charming restored home with so much to offer. You will want to make sure you stay for a while. Start with a dip in the pool, relax and read in the garden, or walk down to the organic garden. Start your morning with an incredible breakfast that includes fresh fruit, eggs, assorted jams, and more. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We certainly hope to return one day.

The property and rooms are absolutely stunning. The breakfast was delicious and beautiful served. You feel right at home.
