The outside totally reminds me of a great Clint Eastwood western... Amazing history... The inside of the church would easily rival churches found in Rome

Nice church, it does need some taking care of as the art is starting to fade a bit.

Breathtaking place! Very windy (strong wind!) - be mindful and get some clothing. There are magnificent paintings inside the church - didn’t expect to find it out giving quite modest outside appearance of the building.

A beautiful and fantastic sight to see, this Sanctuary is situated directly on the cliffside, and gives fantastic views all around. The interior is incredible, and the restoration work shows the love and care put into the building. However the best part was Filipa, the volunteer who was inside the church and has been helping to take care of it. She is incredibly kind and has a wealth of knowledge, answering all of our questions and happy to tell us all about the history of the church and this location, as well as the surrounding area. She showed us photos of the area and the restoration of the church, and we could’ve talked to her all day if there was time. She speaks many languages and is attentive to everyone and even took the time out of her day to find a specific church we had been looking for, and hadn’t known where it was, and she didn’t have to at all! Filipa, if you ever see this, know that you’re a wonderful person, and the world needs more people like you. You were the highlight of our trip and Cabo Espichel is so lucky to have you ❤️

Amazing to see the ocean from above and the convent is also worth a visit. There's a little cafe where you can eat or drink something.

This is a really a piece of local history. Pity i could not see pilgrims “hostel” and church. But together with the lighthouse it is very interesting trip.

Apart from the fact, that the church itself is not open, it is beautiful place to visit. Very interesting. And a little hike to the light house and the Dinosaur footprints make the visit complete. Bring some snacks and enjoy the sunset at the cliff top!

Breathtaking. Coming from South Tirol and being a clmber I am used to heights but this place is astonishly scary and solemn in its desertness, ruthlessness and beauty. Worth every kilometer I did on a bicycle from Lisbon. Will bring my kids there next time.

The church is a very beautiful and quiet place with a lot of history. I enjoyed talking to Filipa, the keeper, which was very knowledgeable and kind.

A unique place, which even had an opera building as attachment! A pasture of sheep, water house and an aqueduct running down here.

The view is pretty, but the wind is super strong - get some warmer clothes work you!

An absolutely unique place to contemplare. Motor cyclists risk to turn it into something much more common.

The pilgrims house is an interesting building and the water house as well. The former is unfortunately in an ugly state, but still worth visiting. There is a nice view and cliffs
