This was a wonderful experience. We jumped in without any information, and I’d like to make sure the next person knows what this is. :) First, best way to communicate is by using WhatsApp and messaging your intent to join the bird walk. Check the website for days/hours that the walk starts. (As of right now it’s Mon/Tue at 9am) Second, the meeting point is at the golden bridge in Ubud, not at the office (the address listed is the office location.) However, we were at the office at meeting time, and they were so kind to drive over and pick us up. The drive from pickup to start of the walk is not very long- 5 minutes perhaps. Su provides guests with binoculars- so you won’t miss a thing! You will need to have local currency to pay, it was about 530,000 a person. The group was very small, only 4, and it was absolutely the best way to learn about the culture, flora and fauna! Su (the guide) is very enthusiastic! We saw (and she identified) everything from caterpillars, spiders, and lizards to plants and birds. She took her time explaining to us the rice fields, the different stages, how they process etc and we saw rice fields in each stage (much more educational than the plantation/tourist approach you get elsewhere.) The walking tour lasts about 3 hours- make sure you have drinking water, bug spray, and your camera(or fully charged phone!) After the walking tour the group heads to a local restaurant (lunch is included in the price.) Su continues to educate through the entire day, she is very easy to understand, has a conservation outlook, and is very knowledgeable!

I had the best time of my life. The energy, the vibe, the walk, oh woowww everything was just perfect and me and the girlfriend had such a big laugh all the time. The energy of the tour guide is just amazing. And not only birds, but reptiles and cicades, enormous spiders and crickets too. Not sure if she has a radar build in, she litteraly sees everthing around. And knows about everything. Expect more than just birds. But a lot of traditional Balinese knowledge too. Just book a day with Bali Bird Walks. It was amazing and 5/5 would do it again. Not to mention, included lunch was good too. Bring sunscreen and leave your kids at home. Prepare for a 5 km walk over small paths, big steps and jungle parts.

I found this recommendation on Google reviews and I wasn't disappointed! Make sure you wear decent walking shows (flip flops are not good enough) as you will be walking for a long time (about 2-3 hours) and traversing paths along paddy fields that are uneven. You should also make sure you put on plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat and sun shades as there are a lot of parts where you are exposed fully to the sun. Now onto the nitty gritty. We were welcomed by Sumadi at Murni's Warung (this is where the tour starts, not at the Bali Bird Walk office), who runs the tours. She is incredibly passionate about the wildlife in the area and provided us with binoculars and a list of birds we might see on the walk. We popped into a taxi for a 10 minute drive to the start of the tour, and then, straight away, we were bird spotting. As well as spotting birds, we were introduced to a variety of plants and their uses, such as the Star of Bethlehem and the silver fern (very cool temporary tattoo was demonstrated!) I also got to see water monitor lizard, golden orb spider and gliding lizard. And amongst all of this, we were taught about the life of a rice farmer, and how the crops are grown and which animals are good for the crops, and which ones aren't (depending on the maturity of the crops). The irrigation system was fascinating.... and the hidden rules behind how it is used... not something I thought I would find interesting! Best spot of the day was the Java Kingfisher. And then, we fi ish up back at Murnis Warung for lunch and a chat Brilliant morning finding out more about the nature of Bali and how people live from someone (Sumadi) who had a wealth of information and has had a range of life experiences within the country.

Favorite trails for sunset walks. Rice fields, herons, ducks, birds.... True, at this time the locals get on their bikes and ride along the narrow paths. You have to snuggle up to the rice fields, miss)))) But what can you do... This is a wonderful place for walking with dogs and/or children, or alone to enjoy the evening colors of a Balinese evening.

Such enthousiasm! Our guide was amazing, very energetic and also very down to earth. She gave us a nice experience and we saw a lot of the birds. It's a nice walk, although it was super hot and the fields are open (so please don't get burned). Lunch afterwards was also delightful.

The bird walks of Victor Mason and Su are legendary since the 1990s. Don't hesitate long about joining one. You will go for a nice walk, you can ask anything about culture or nature and observe beautiful birds, first in the village and then in nature. Su is very knowledgeable and happy to share. I loved the experience.

One of our best experiences during our time in Ubud. My son is a nature and wildlife lover and I was looking for an activity for us to do around Ubud… Omg what a wonderful day spent with Su in the rice fields around Ubud. We saw so many birds and insects and we all had a great day, not just my 13 year old son! Su is so knowledgable and passionate about birds and wildlife and her enthusiasm is contagious. Plus her warm personality and kindness truly made this experience a one of a kind. She even introduced us to a friend who does herping in the area - another amazing activity we did as a family. Definitely one of our highlights during our 3 weeks in Bali. I highly recommend a walk with Su. We hope to visit Su again in the future. Thanks again su for a memorable day!

This was absolutely great. Best way to get in touch with the Bali nature around Ubut. The walk is focused on birds, insects, plants and nature as a whole. Su will guide you to her hometown, just outside of Ubud, which you will reach by car together with the group after arrival at Murni's. There are around 50 different birds that you are able to spot around here! Enjoy and bring some sunscreen and water, just to be sure. Thanks Su!

If you like birds, butterflies, herbs or plants at all this is a must-do in Ubud. Su is an enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable guide who will take you through the rice paddies pointing out everything she spots. We marked 24 bird species on our trek. In the summer high season, go to her website and make a reservation by emailing her. In the off season just show up here at 9am.

What an amazing experience, learnt so much. About 4 hours walking, around mainly flat paths, but learnt so much, not only birds but agriculture and the environment. Sumadi was a dynamo who bounded with enthusiasm and knowledge. Highly recommended.

By far our best experience in Bali so far. Totally amazing. Su is funny and imparts her knowledge and insights throughout the walk. So much more than birds - insects, lizards, rice cultivation. Traditional plant remedies. And as we headed back into town, we stopped for some turmeric juice and fresh fruits.

This was one of my best experiences in Ubud. Sumadi is so knowledgeable and just fun. Hope to stay in touch! :) Please note that the Bird Walks start of from Murni's Warung. You should get in touch with Sumadi first to book your spot. All the bad reviews are not Sumadi's fault, but rather that GoogleMaps has the office location, which is not open to the public.

Su (the guide) is the main character of this authentic and informative nature walk! You can tell she genuinely loves birds and nature, and this attitude is contagious to the guests on her tour. We saw plenty of lavish local birds and Su will make it her personal mission to make sure each guest is able to spot every bird she sees. But more beautiful than the birds was the insights we get into actual Balinese culture through her knowledge of plants and animals. Would recommend to anyone that wants to experience Bali outside the frame of the generic instagram hype.

Highly recommended. Su provided wonderful insight into rice farming and Balinese culture. She has an incredible knowledge of birds (we saw 22 species during our two hour walk) as well as many plants, insects, and reptiles.

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Su is extremely knowledgeable and patient. She pointed out so many things I would have missed if I was walking in my own. She helped us to spot a wide range of birds and other creatures. It was so pleasant strolling among the rice paddies on narrow paths with Su. She is great company and we enjoyed it immensely.

The park is super well-kept, many different mini shows, low prices in the cafe (But I didn’t taste anything), the minus is that the ticket is very expensive in my opinion, many birds are not visible behind the cage

We had such an excellent time. Su is so nice and informative and we learned not only about the beautiful birds and wildlife but also about agriculture and the Balinese local lifestyle as well. The included lunch at Murni Warung was great too! This felt like true Ubud (not the tourist trap) and it was a highlight of our trip. Thank you Su!

I loved both my group and my private bird tour!! I had been looking forward to them for several months and I couldn't have been happier with what they turned out to be like. Sumadi was very helpful in pointing out and naming the birds, plants and insects we encountered and I truly enjoyed her company. The included lunch was amazing, too! Sumadi didn't just taught me many new bird and insect names, but taught me a lot about Balinese culture as well. These two bird tours were big highlights of my stay in Indonesia!! Even days later when I sent Sumadi descriptions of birds I had seen she very kindly helped me identify birds based on plumage, location, size and behaviour via WhatsApp. If I ever return to Bali I will certainly book a tour again! Thanks, Su!!

Honestly the best tour we have had on Bali. Sumadi is passionate about local fauna and flora, extremely knowledgeable and fun. We spotted many amazing birds, had a nice hike through the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of the city and got to see a different side of Ubud - full of plants, birds and butterflies. Even got to smell interesting plants and tasted local fruit and juice. Finished it all with a great lunch. We absolutely loved it and definitelly recommend this tour!

Su could see the most beautiful birds and insects we could never find on our own. And with great enthusiasm and knowledge she informed us about the flora and fauna in Ubud. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Had an awesome time with Su today. Her joy is contagious and I appreciate someone so passionate about their field of expertise. The walking tour through the countryside was relaxing and good for the soul. Along with the birding we learned many local insects and plant species. The lunch after was tasty as well. The highlight for me was seeing the Javen Kingfisher, such a beautiful bird. I highly recommend Su’s tour.

What a fantastic, strange, original tour in Ubud. I mean strange in a good way. It's not just about Birds, You'll learn about the Insects, Lizards, Plants, Trees and how the locals live. It packs a lot in, and it was really good. Su was so cool, halfway through a talk she'll yell out "Bird Bird" "Look", It's so great to see and listen to someone so passionate about wildlife. She really tries to get everyone to see and experience everything. I would do this tour again if I ever come back, I'm fairly sure you could repeat this tour multiple times and see different wildlife. It is long, and it is hot, so bring water, and expect to be trudging through farms. I probably wouldn't recommend my 70 yr old mum doing this, but if you are fit it's a breeze.

15 out of 10! Su, the guide is a mine of information, not only of birds, but all the local flora and fauna. Made the day very enjoyable with her easy going style of delivery.

Best way to see and appreciate the natural beauty of Ubud. Su is a passionate, enthusiastic and expert guide to birds, butterflies, reptiles and flora. Can’t recommend it enough.

Absolutely amazing. Su is incredibly knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife and has an incredible eye for sporting birds and insects. It was a wonderful way to see the Ubud surrounds and see many birds, insects and to learn about the rice fields.

We did this wonderful "Bird Walk" some time back and were very pleased we did! Su is very informative about not just local bird life but also insects, animals, and reptiles etc. We saw amazing bird life in areas where we have walked alone before and seen nothing without Su's keen eye. The scenery on the walk is also amazing. Lunch afterwards with Su and all walkers that morning was at Murni Warung, delicious and enjoyable in itself. While having lunch and debriefing with Su, we were lucky to spot a huge monitor lizard basking in the sun on the river bank outside of the restaurant. I highly recommend the walk, and is great value especially with the included lunch. Do it at least once when in Ubud!

Su is the nicest and bubbliest Balinese woman you‘ll ever meet. My husband and I had a bird walk with her and another guest and it was lovely. Not only did she know everything about birds but also about other animals, Balinese culture and edible ferns 😀. She does audits for the bird section of Cologne Zoo (our hometown in Germany) 👍🏻

We had an amazing experience with Su who is as kind as she is knowledgeable. We saw many interesting animals and insects, as it wasn’t only birds we were shown. We saw the second biggest lizard in the world, the Water Monitor Lizard, which was an unforgettable experience. I don’t recommend much, but I would recommend this walk to anyone who appreciates nature. Thank you Su for a wonderful morning ❤️🙏

There is no such place as Bali Birds Walks in Ubud. We walked there more than one hour and when we arrived it turned out to be Bali Birds Walks Club which is closed. This place is outside Ubud, wrong pin on the map.

Loved the bird walk with Sumadi! We walked among rice fields , forest and gardens and she showed us birds, butteflies, reptiles and plants, told us how these plants are used in local cuisine and medicine, we cold smell and even try them! Sumadi also told us about nature and farming traditins on Bali. It was super interesting and fun!!!!

Su was an incredible guide and I learnt so much from her. She doesn’t only know every bird but all the insects, reptiles and other critters! I already wanted to book in for a second tour as soon as it was done.

My husband and i did a walking bird tour with Su yesterday and absolutely loved it. Su was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and engaging. Her passion for birds and nature is fabulous! We walked through quiet neighbourhoods, amazing rice fields and alongside lush canyons. While it was a long hot walk it wasn't difficult and we had small breaks along the way. Su offers so much more than just Bird watching, she has a wealth of knowledge on all the local insects, trees and fruit and their importance to the farmers. She made sure to assist all 4 of our small group in spotting birds and was clear and patient with instructions. We ended up seeing 25 birds on our walk which was amazing the highlights being the Cinnamon Bittern, Javan Kingfisher and for me a really good look at a handsome Brown throated Sunbird right at the end! Would 100% recommend this tour. It's amazing value and full of passion. Would definitely bird watch with Su again! Thank you Su!!!
