I visit here almost every year whenever I visit my native....my village is located near this fort. You'll get very refreshing views all around the fort. This surrounded by mountains from all sides. Very easy to climb and there are people selling refreshments on the way to up.. Has paid as well as free parking. Monkeys here are very well behaved...... They will come close to you and wait for you to give anything for them to eat..

One of the most amazing views in the region - lake/dam + valley views on one side, farmland views on the other. There's also a temple here and many small shops selling drinks and souvenirs. A must-visit (a bit of a detour though) if you are in the Mahabaleshwar area.

Old fort with mandir at the top. One has to climb stairs for 15-20 mins but the effort is worth when you do darshan at Ram Mandir and see the nature's beauty from the top.

Holy hindu place situated near satara. Good motorable road till temple parking. Visited in mansoon season. It was pleasant experience. Fog, rain, greenery, fresh air, nice stunning natural views...Awesome. Around 200 stairs from parking to temple. Fresh buttermilk, corns were for sale on the route. Lot of monkeys were seen playing on side. Visited around 12 pm. Samadhi mandir was closed for 1 hr from 12 pm to 1 pm although you can enter and wait. It's temple of lord HANUMAN. Got an opportunity to avail maha prasad. The hall is adjacent to samadhi mandir. You may have to wait for 20 mins to 40 mins in que on holidays. Timing is till 2 pm. They allow you for seva like serving food, water etc. Rich tradition "पंगत". Ladies and gents sections are different although all sit in a big single hall. It all starts with chanting "श्री राम जय राम जय जय राम" 108 times, till then सेवेकरी / volunteers serves you with fresh, tasty food items. Clean dishes with water glasses areserved first. We had steamed rice, curry, sproutes, one sweet and water. Every one is requested to avoid food waste, in respect for food. Enough food is served for everyone. Once done you have to carry your dish and glass to drop in respective containers. Facility is available for washing hands when you exit the hall. Pictorial biography of Samarth Ramdas swami is there in nearby hall. 👌 Clean, calm and holy ambience everywhere on the fort. Lodging is available at fair rates. Small market for devotees can be noticed while you reach to temple. Good facility of toilets and washrooms but lack of cleaning. Magnificent view of vally just outside of washrooms.

"Before going on a path, it is important to know where that path leads....." Exploring satara..... Sajjangad Fort.....samadhi of shree Swami Samarth Ramdhas...... And story of 11 maruti.... The Sajjangad fort is located in the mountainous terrain of the Western Ghats. Being best known as a pilgrimage site, it is one of the protected monuments in West India. This beautiful fort is situated at about 16 kms from the city of Satara.... HISTORY Sajjangad Fort was built by the Bahamani Emperors between 13th and 15th century AD. The fort is also known as Asvalayana Rishi’, named after the Rishi who used to live there for an abundant period. It was also called ‘Aswalya gad’ because of the number of bears strolling around. The name of the fort means ‘Fort of good people’. In 1663 it was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj..... Shree Samarth Ramdhas Swami stayed on this fort......Samarth Ramdas (c. 1608 - c. 1681), also known as Sant (saint) Ramdas or Ramdas Swami or simply Ramdas was an Indian Marathi Hindu saint, philosopher, poet, writer and spiritual master... Samarth has also written on literature, art, health, lifestyle, nature, construction, industry. No part of life is left by Samarth. Provides detailed guidance on what to do to achieve high goals in all areas. There are many such topics in his literature. He has also done environmental awareness and writing...... ARCHITECTURE OF FORT.... The Fort Erected at an elevation of 914 metres the fort has two main gates. The fort covers a vast area of the hill. Being constructed majorly by stone, it comprises of a set of 100 stairs to reach the main door. The sightseeing at this fort also includes few lakes, a temple devoted to Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman, another temple dedicated to Anglai Devi. There is also a Math and a Tomb of Swami Samartha Ramdas. The tomb is very amicable and quiet, helping the devotees to practice meditation. The fort consists of many small lakes including the Godade Lake which was built to provide water to horses and for other domestic animals. There is a Mandir built where, objects which santh used during his time, have been assembled. There is also a trust run under the name of Swami Samartha Ramdas, which offers food to the devotees free of cost in the afternoon of every day.......

Satara in itself is truly a natural wonder, and Sajjangad exemplifies that perfectly. Whenever I'm in Satara, a visit to Sajjangad is a must. This place exudes a sense of spirituality and tranquility that's hard to find elsewhere. It's a must-visit destination.

Sajjangad Fort is close to Thosegar Waterfalls. The view from the fort is stunning, and you can see the nearby lake. It's a peaceful place with a small village inside, and there's a free stay option in the ashram.

Exploring satara..... Sajjangad Fort.....samadhi of shree Swami Samarth Ramdhas...... And story of 11 maruti.... This is one of the must visit forts near Satara city. The Sajjangad fort is located in the mountainous terrain of the Western Ghats. Being best known as a pilgrimage site, it is one of the protected monuments in West India. This beautiful fort is situated at about 16 kms from the city of Satara.... The delicious food, also called ‘Mahaprasad’, is served in the afternoon with the chanting of mantra, “जय जय रघुवीर समर्थ (Jai Jai Raghuveer Samarth)”. You should not miss that. If you want to do spiritual practice, you will get free accommodation at Sajjangad Fort. It’s more of a Spiritual Place rather than a tourist place or a picnic spot. This is one of the best tourist places to visit in Satara with family and children. There are around 250 steps. So it will take around 15 min of walk to reach the top of the fort from the parking place. There are many beautiful viewpoints at Sajjangad such as Lord Ram Temple, Lord Hanuman Temple. The rainy season is the best time to visit this fort as you can see many scenic views of Urmodi Dam from the top of the Sajjangad.

You can drive till to the stairs, after climbing around 100 stairs you reach to the top. There you can visit lots of small stops. You must try and enjoy their meal , it is highly recommended. Couple of temple you can visit there. Ram mandir is main and samarth Ramdas Swami temple. At dhabyacha maruti temple you can feel pleasant view of dam and valley. There you can see lots of shops on gad. Road condition is not that good. So drive carefully.

The fort consists of many small lakes including the Godade Lake which was built to provide water to horses and for other domestic animals. There is a Mandir built where, objects which Shivaji used during his time, have been assembled. There is also a trust run under the name of Swami Samartha Ramdas, which offers food to the devotees free of cost in the afternoon of every day. Recently there was a construction of Bhaktiniwas for the devotees to stay free of cost and have a spiritual experience. The place is most visited on the day of Shiv Jayanti. Private vehicle, as well as Public transport, can be opted to reach the base of the fort...

What a wonderful and divine experience.... must visit place while near satara... this place has really very positive and pure vibes ...beauty and simplicity of nature and temples and architects built there... scenic views and spiritual history of the place makes you feel like you went in 700 year ago old Era.... Beautiful temples and peaceful and helpful people everywhere... There is free accommodation available on the fort with basic stay needs but u can stay only if u have any spiritual practice want to follow... Parking is available for four wheeler.... and you have to climb approx 180 steps which takes 10 to 15 mins for healthy young person... there is Palkhi available for elders and physically challanged people.. which cost 600 per person for round trip.. This is not a tourist place and if you are visiting and planning to stay there as a tourist then it's not good... you should have a purpose of your own spiritual upliftment through any Sadhana marg ...

Sajjanagad means the fort of good people. It is the last resting place of Ramdas Swami. Quite a crowded place on the weekend. It is a 20-25min trek. Good place to visit with your family.

Phenomenal place with lots of spiritual significance. There are rooms available for bhakts for free. Mahaprasad is served twice a day. Your car can go upto a certain height. There is a parking available in which one can park car overnight (paid). One has to climb around 200 steps to reach top. You get people who help you carry luggage for ₹50 per bag. There are two offices. One can check room availability in both.

Best place to visit in any season. You just need to climb 90-100 stairs, otherwise you can take your personal vehicle to the top. There are people to help out in carrying bags if you have many. They charge a bit for the same. They serve morning breakfast(8:30am to 9:30am) and lunch (12.30pm to 2pm) as Prasad. They also have bhakt nivas in the temple, just check for availability in advance as it is too full during peak times. Parking is available.

This is a destination for those keen on spirituality and not for those seeking to do sight seeing. It’s a Samadhi of Guru Ramdas Swami. The trust seems well managed and serve Prasad as lunch free for all visitors /Devotees. Except for the gate, the fort is mostly in ruins, the area around it has quite some breathtaking views and good greenery during monsoons.

Good Fort....but mostly for Sarth Ramdast Swami's Math... You can expect mahaprasad at lunch time... Few spots are renewed in a modern way which are good for photography but a little historic touch would have given more satisfaction....ideal to take your family...
