Let me start this review by saying I have been part of a research group staying at the Pine Ridge Lodge for the last month and a half. I have seen many guests come and go, and many interactions during my stay, which I believe offers offers a unique perspective. The lodge is situated in the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, an ecologically fascinating biome (think dinosaur habitat). The lodge sits right off the main road, providing convenient access for vehicles that may not be able to handle the roads that lead to the other surrounding lodges. The lodge features numerous suites nested within an array of ornamental plants and trees, providing more than enough privacy. There is a plethora of wildlife in the area, especially birds, and if you’re lucky you may witness the Tapir that lurks down by the stream at night. The lodge is run by Neil, his wife, and small subset of staff. They treat all their guests as if they were family, and work studiously to provide the best experience; often tailoring to personal needs. If there is an issue, they will be there to make sure it is resolved. In addition, everywhere within the lodge is always kept clean and tidy. During my stay I have had no problems, been treated respectfully, and have felt more than welcome. If you decide to pick the the Pine Ridge Lodge as your destination, make sure you order Neil’s pizza as it is (personally) the best in Belize.

We stopped in for lunch. Neal and his staff were exceptional. Neal made us the most amazing breakfasts tacos. The grounds are picturesque. It was so perfect that we had to return for dinner. Our best meals in Belize. Our friendliest place to visit.

After travelling from Vancouver and being thoroughly exhausted when I finally got to Pine Ridge, Neil put me in a cabana close to the river and I drifted off into the most satisfying sleep I have had in years. I awoke fully recharged and was treated to an amazing, freshly prepared breakfast. I can not recommend this lodge enough if you want dreamy sleep, amazing hospitality, excellent food and you love to run free with the Guinea Fowl... LOL!

Such a wonderful place! We stopped here on our way to Caracol for breakfast and enjoyed ourselves and the meal so much we returned for homemade sourdough pizza on the way back. Both meals were excellent and the owner very friendly and welcoming. Atmosphere and location is very nice and peaceful with animals and tasteful decorations.

We turned up with the intention of staying a night and moving on as we drove around Belize but ended up staying 10 and feeling sad to leave! Perfect base to see the whole of Cayo and more if you get a hire car and go off on your own. We dont use tours normally, but Neil organises them for people without cars. Room was amazing, stayed in the larger one with 2 beds, its open at the roof but completely screened, no issues with bugs or anything and really adds to the atmosphere, the temperature was perfect and even nicely, slightly cold sometimes! Neil and his family are really friendly and informative, and his culinary skills are amazing. From Mayan to English Sunday roasts, to pizza that takes 5 days to prepare from scratch. All were so good that we ate there almost every night.

Great place to have a get-a-way place in the beautiful pine tree forest. Relaxing is the routine here.

Pine Ridge Lodge I cannot say enough good stuff about the Pine Ridge Lodge family. Yes, they are a family, and they treat their guests as such. Talk about under committing and over delivering; we were expecting the minimum, going off grid, “glamping” in a don’t bother bringing your hair dryer cottage. Well, we got way more than what we expected and having an excuse not to “coif” daily was a bonus. Anything we asked for was met with a “yes, we can do that for you.” We settled on this property because of the location and the reviews about Neil’s cooking. Neither disappointed. Our cottage was nestled at the end of the property with the creek running in front of it, which lulled me to sleep every night. It was fantastic. We were there in the rainy season, but it didn’t matter. There’s a waterfall on the property that the family dogs led us to one day and we enjoyed that for a while before driving 10 minutes to Big Creek waterfall where we swam across. Pine River Lodge is where you want to stay if your priority is to have an adventure in the jungle while having the basic accommodation necessities with top customer service and friendliness. We had our own cottage with bedroom and bathroom and a screened in porch connecting us to our daughters’ room where they had 2 beds and their own bathroom. There’s no electricity, but there is adequate lighting, plumbing and a nice hot shower. Their water is even safe to drink which we had been told would NOT be the case! The gathering area is a lodge with a thatched roof that withstood the gail force rain. Meals are shared here and there is strong internet and electricity for charging devices. Every morning I walked up and was greeted by José with a delicious cup of Guatemalan French press coffee. The property is beautiful with local plantings and wildlife all around. The breakfast and dinner each day was unique and delicious. Neil would ask the evening before what we’d like for the next day and since we wanted to experience his creativity, we left it to him to tell us what he’d like to make for us. We experienced quite a variety of food from local Belizean breakfast cuisine, British Yorkshire pudding and shepherd’s pie, homemade pizza, and full turkey dinner in the week that we stayed with them. The one comment I will make is to bring your own cocktails if you are specific about what you like to drink. They have delicious local beer, but we brought our own bourbon. José recommended an itinerary for us for each day of our week. He arranged a guide when necessary and each guide was very responsible, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. The excursions he put together were each unique and phenomenal. Never once did we encounter crowds because he took care, for example to make sure he didn’t book us to go somewhere on a cruise ship day. He is very knowledgeable about where and how to navigate the adventures. This trip far exceeded my expectations all thanks to the Pine Ridge Lodge Family.

Wow!!! We absolutely LOVED our time at Pine Ridge Lodge. We booked because of its fantastic location, easy to access from San Ignacio and perfect to explore the Mountain Pine Ridge Region. But the lodge far exceeded our expectations! We ate there every morning and night and were blown away by Neil's cooking, everything was delicious! Our room was beautiful and the grounds are lovely too, with a stream and pools running alongside which are the perfect place to cool off after a long day exploring. On top of everything they even had two lovely dogs who were so friendly (I was missing my dog very much). Neil was so helpful with everything, we couldn't have asked for anything more. We loved our time here and would recommend it to everyone! Thank you to Neil and your lovely family for having us :)

Neil (and family) and Jose (along with the other staff members) were genuinely delightful and made us feel quite at home during our stay. A truly enjoyable experience in the forest and waterfalls of Belize.

Highly recommend Pine Ridge! WOW - one of the best stays I've ever had, felt like a home away from home! Jose was truly a gem of a human - making sure we felt welcome the second we arrived to helping us figure out our plans on a day to day basis. Neil was a phenomenal cook and I looked forward to every meal (we had most of meals at the lodge due to convenience but i have NO regrets about that! They even packed us a lunch when we drove to Caracol. The location is great if you want to be a little remote and off the grid, and do a lot of jungle exploring!

Staying at Pine Ridge Lodge felt magical-tucked away in the Belizean jungle, surrounded by wildlife with minimal internet connection was like a breath of fresh air. Neil and his family and staff were all so sweet and personable. Their food was AMAZING every morning and night. The rooms were always tended to and everyone was always genuinely happy to be there. Jose, our tour guide was so knowledgeable about Belize and it’s history-we begged him to come on every adventure with us:) What I loved most of all was how everyone made us feel like family…I want to go back now:)
