Beautiful place to visit. Very large and height too. One must take water bottle with him/her as there is no drinking water is available inside. On the top of the hill one stream with water is present. Water table is at such a high level?? Security person told underground tunnels were present earlier but now closed. Ballari city looks beautiful from the top of the Fort.

Excellent place to look around how our temples are destroyed, Archaeological Survey of India has no care for it, a whole lot of people believe that the lower fort was built by Hyder Ali / French Engineer but this information is not authentic & moreover Tippu Sultan was a invader, the fort & the temples around the mountain are much older, if you see the lower fort there are huge blocks of stone, during the time of Tippu Sultan/Hyder Ali there were no such people who can lift such a huge blocks of stones nor they were having such a tech, moreover they (Tippu Sultan & Hyder Ali) were busy in looting & demolishing our temples, than how come there was time to build such a huge fort (lower or upper), there are another 2 entrances from west direction, friends don't urinate on & around the mountain keep it clean, carry your own water bottle because there is no water facility on the mountain but after using it don't throw the plastic waste on the mountain, it is better to book a online ticket

Good view of the city from the fort which is on a hilltop. Built in 16 th century this fort with 5.6 kms long walls offers a good hiking trail in Ballari , entry fees 25₹, no guides available and no information about various sites in this fort available except for a board showing the history of the fort

This is our favourite fort for multiple reasons and one of that is it empty during weekday and less crowded on weekends. Other reason is that it has amazing rocks here to climb on and extremely picturesque. The only thing that Is upsetting is the litter. You find plastic bottles and chips packets and chappals thrown here and there and it's too sad. Next time we go, we will take our friends and try to clean it up a little coz it's a favourite spot.

The place has only less visitor and feels haunted. A must visit as we can understand the statergy made by the king's who ruled here. The whole city can be viewed from over here. There is a lower fort also which is non functional. Early mornings and evenings are the best time to visit the place.

A must visit place if you cross or go to Ballari. Forts are always a sign of culture and ancient living. Will make the place better if they have written boards placed everywhere describing the details of why when & purpose for building it, importance of the fort and what took place there. Will help and be easy for everyone to know the history of that place.

It is situated in the historic city of Bellary, in the Bellary District in Karnataka state, India. It was built in two parts namely, the Upper Fort and the Lower Fort. the staff is very unsure of what the actual rules, some times they allow to have a camera sometimes they wont, and most of the time they would not allow you to go in the early morning as it is the main motive for most of the people to watch sunrise. i myself have been sent back several times for these reasons so please confirm with the authorities a day earlier if you are planing to go on a shoot or a early morning trek. except these problems its a fine place to visit.

The Ballari Fort is also said to be the world's second largest monolithic hill in the world.Ballari Fort and the town which laps it are situated around two eminent granite hills which are rocky and huge. Ballari Gudda and Kumbara Gudda. These two hills are a perfect backdrop for the city, surrounded by smaller hills, including Eeshwana Gudda and Kaate Gudda. The fort provides a commanding position and a beautiful view of the plains, now the Bellary town. Granite rocks embrace the terrain surrounding the fort, which is in the shape of a mountain. The semi-elliptical shape of the hill is longer towards the North than the Southern side.

Beautiful fort but not maintained great by the government. The view from top is beautiful and the path is quite tiring for people who don't exercise but not too much. Must visit while in and around Ballari.

A pre historic fort which was taken over by the British from Tipu Sultan in 18 th century. There are 400 stairways leading to the gate at the top of the hill. It's a 30 min trek to the top. Carry water and food to spend time in the hill top. The view from above the fort is splendid. You can watch over complete ballary city.

The hill Fort is having lot of fortification, bastions and many monuments. The forts have fine ramparts with a rich history with several historical and religious monuments. This fort is built on top of a hill called the "Ballari Gudda". It was built in two parts namely, the Upper Fort and the Lower Fort. The Upper Fort was built by Hanumappa Nayaka, a feudatory of Vijayanagara Empire. And the Lower Fort is built by Hyder Ali in later part of the 18th century. A citadel was in the upper fort with several ancient tanks while the lower fort on the east housed the arsenal. With the fall of the Vijayanagar empire in 1565, the area witnessed political upheaval till the British took control of the region, around 1800 AD. It was under the reign of various rulers like Mauryas, Satavahanas, Kadambas, Chalukyas of Kalyana, Kalachuryas, Sevunas, Hoysalas, Vijayanagar, Bijapur Sultan, Maratha, Nayaka ruler, Haidar Ali and British. The fort was classified as 1st class by the British Administration. This fort gave Bellary its ancient importance, and led to its selection by the British rulers as the site of a cantonment. At the bottom of this fort. 'Kumaraswamy Temple' is beautiful.

The evening clock was ticking and then with some courage started climbing the mountain by reading the history of the fort in the beginning of fort and then they have developed a lot by online payment methods all thanks to digital india and then started climbing the mountain to look at the city view through the fort and i found many garden lizards and millipedes all over the fort and some insect sounds however managed to climb to the top with exhausted state and then made upto the top and finding the places from the hill top was a good thing and watching the extent of the city was fun and then clicking some pictures is mandatory one obviously and looking at the sunset was amazing from such a height and the silhouette was mesmerizing and this was my experience go with your friends and cousins and you all can have a great memories and a timepass and carry a water bottle do that can walk around for some more time

Bellary Fort is a historical site with more than 3000 years of history. It was constructed at the time of Vijayanagar Empire by Hanumappa Nayaka. The fort was captured by Hyder Ali back in 1769 and was then remodelled by a French engineer. The fort is situated at the Ballari Gudda hilltop. One of the major reasons for its attraction is the fort being built on a monolithic rock. The fort is divided into Upper and Lower fort. It is a polygonal fort with only one entrance. There is a citadel of 1976 ft. and includes structures like pools, cisterns, temple and cells. The tunnel is believed to have link to the cities of Sriragapatna and Mysore. The top can be reached with a single rocky way.

You in for a cardio... Climb this approximately 400 steps :-P nice place. You can view the whole bellary from this castle. View is magnificent and lot of photography spots. Opens at 10 and closes at 5. 40/- per head for Indians and 200/- per head for foreigners. Nothing great about it but you can have fun climbing it. Please carry water along with you incase you feel thirsty.

Built during the Vijayanagara era, the fort is located on a Rocky hill. Very strategically built with a vantage view all around. The fort was captured by Haider Ali and then gifted to his son, Tipu Sultan. The fort is in sheer neglect and is a testimony to what the public and Government apathy can do to a place of historical value. An entry fee of Rs.25 for Indian nationals and Rs.200 for internationals is charged. Timings from 8am to 5 pm. A must visit if in Bellary to understand the functioning of a fort, the architecture and the strategies behind building a fort.

A must visit place if you're are trek or history freak.opens around 8am timings may vary with respect to week days and weekends.if you completely explore it will take 2 hours even more but we took 2 hours. Good to visit either early morning or evenings you won't exposed to sun. There are maximum steps to climb except at some places. Places is totally covered by mountain to rocks and green vegetation.you will find the great history behind its construction and how they executed it strategically to tackle enemies. You can have a view covering whole bellari.it costs around 20 Rs for Indians and 300 Rs for foreigners. A wide stretched outer line with fort inside it. It is very peaceful in mornings to visit. There will be no food or water outlets at top,so carry or buy before starting.
