Best time to visit Watchtower is the month of November to January . All days of the week is opened and it will be closed around 5.30 pm . It is one of the security sources during the period of krishnadevaraya . It is specially meant for the guards to quarantine the Royal place . It is spotted at many areas in Hampi , but these towers play a dual role , one for the military usage for the guards and as a vantage point for the Royal Ladies . It has few nearby attractions and restaurants ... 🚶🚲🚶🚲🚶🚲🚶🚲🚶🚲🚶🚲🚶🚲

(Visited in June 2019) - Located very near to Lotus Mahal, these watch/guard towers where loyal troops once guarded the Royal enclosure are simple yet elegant structures. One must understand that the capital of the empire Hampi-Vijayanagara is located very near to Tubgabhadra River and under threat by Bahmans & later Deccan Sultanates - so, security was important.

Great architecture. It was built for the security purpose of Empire Vijayanagara.

This Towers which are adjacent to the defensive wall, could be seen inside the Courtyard and outside the defence Wall The enclosure walls are built with irregular, tightly fitted blocks which taper in thickness as the walls rise. The watchtower on the north side is 12 metres high and the steps are from the outside to reach the top of the tower

It is just a tower ... But it's tall ... U can imagine how in old they would keep eye on enemies ... U can't go top of it ... Just see it from down. ..

These towers are constructed on four sides of the queen's enclosure used as watch towers. It's not allowed to enter inside the watch towers. There used to be a palace for queens which is not there now or the palace was not completed. Hence these towers were constructed to safeguard queen's security.

AMALGAMATION OF HIGH-TECH SECURITY AND ARCHITECTURE There are multiple large watch towers surrounding the Royal Enclosure. At first glance, these are easy to miss as they are located at different corners, but for the keen eyes these are nothing less than another epitome of Architecture. The main purpose of these watch towers was to keep long-distance view of the surroundings and alert the security about any approaching danger to the Royal Family members Each watch tower is 2 storied tall, hexagonal in design with 6 windows that would dive a 360 degrees view. These are also made using limestone which would protect the security guards from the scorching heat. Signing Off Hiral Amodia (Instagram: amodiahs)

This is inside the zanana enclosure. You can not climb on it but can take good pictures. This was a watch tower to keep the eye on the queens:->

A nice architecture. The entrance for this is chargeable. Not a must visit place at Hampi.

Interesting place for sure. Unimpressed by the guard with shotgun telling me that artists cannot draw in sketchbooks here... Following this telling off, I was followed by another plain clothed guard person throughout my journey to make sure that I didn't make any further drawings... Genuinely the oddest so called "rule" I've ever come across. Even more ridiculous when everyone is allowed to take photos...
