Located at the bottom of the Matanga Hill and 300 mt.s straight from Virupaksha temple, we can check this huge bull structure. This bull is confined inside so much similar kind building structures and stone carvings which is a signature architectural marvel of Hampi. Behind that Bull, there is stairs to reach hill. You can also reach River by following left trail from here.

Locally known as Yeduru Basavanna or Nandi, this monolithic bull marks the east end of the Virupaksha Bazaar. The statue is housed in a twin storied pavilion built on an elevated platform. A heap of gigantic boulders behind the pavilion offers an interesting backdrop. Though partially mutilated and carved in a coarse style, this Nandi attracts visitor owing to its giant size. Monolithic Bull pavilion Nandi is the mount of lord Shiva and it's symbolic that this one faces the Shiva shrine (Virupaksha Temple) located at the opposite end of the street, about a kilometer from it. At a little distance in front of the Nandi you can also spot a tall stone lamp post with metal spikes over it. A flight of steps along the left side of the Nandi pavilion leads you to the Achyuta Raya's Temple located across the hill.

The Nandi Statue at Hampi is located opposite to the famous Virupaksha Temple and is locally known as Yeduru Basavanna. The structure is a massive monolith and is constructed in a two-storied pavilion, on a raised platform. The idol has basic carvings and there are big boulders behind the statue that add to its charms. A little distance away from the idol is a stone lamp which has spikes on it. The Statue of Nandi is greatly admired and venerated by the people of Hampi and is believed to protect the town. Although little damaged over the natural course of time, the statue still looks beautiful and attract tourists. The site of the statue is also the main location for Vijaya Utsav, the Hampi Arts festival which is held in November every year.

The statue itself is an impressive sight, and it provides a great photo opportunity. The hilltop offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, creating a breathtaking experience that is worth every moment. In addition to the natural beauty, Nandi has a rich historical significance. The ancient temples and ruins scattered across the hill are a testament to its rich cultural heritage. Exploring these historical sites adds a sense of mystery and intrigue to the visit.

A beautiful Nandi statue carved out of a monolithic rock at a short distance from the Virupaksha Temple. This is an absolutely fantastic site and must be visited by everyone. What it makes even more special is that one can enjoy peace and tranquility here. Away from crowd and noise of the Virupaksha Temple. 100% recommended.

The road exactly opposite the Virupaksha temple leads you to the monolithic bull. This statue of Nandi is housed inside a mandapa. As with any Nandi, this too faces the Shiva temple (Virupaksha temple). A beautiful structure not to be missed while in Hampi.
