Great area to experience nature, a center with animals and an expansive walking trail system. Good idea for kids birthday parties.

This is a nice local spot to bring your kids. The environmental center has a few small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, snakes, birds, etc. Depending on the time of day, you may be allowed to pet some of these animals. There are a couple of trails you can walk through, with lots of trees and marshes by the water. You can walk the entire trail in about 20 minutes. It is obviously beautiful during the summer with lush greenery all around. You can host a kid's birthday party at this venue for a very reasonable price. We have definitely been here before the renovation and are extremely happy with the new upgrades to this place. Looking forward to our next visit.

We have been part of Alley Pond environmental center homeschool program for 3 years. We love this place, teachers are kind and knowledgeable, science curriculum is hands on and the best part is animals! My son always talks about snakes and rabbits that visit a classroom. This is a great resource for homeschooling families in NYC.

A great place to take your kids. I’ve been eyeing this Center since they were being built. Glad it’s finally opened! Nice nature trail through the back. I’m sure it will be even prettier as the weather warms up. The people who worked there were very friendly. One of them even offered the kids animal petting. Not opened on weekends!

AEPC is a hidden gem for Northeastern Queens. Especially, families with young kids please come and enroll in their fantastic enriching classes. Story time for toddlers, science pods, nature hikes you name it!

It was good loved it however u must not go on the Douglass whatever his name is trail by accident and think that it's part of the APEC since it's not. It will take you on a 1.3 mile long adventure that you need to be aware you are on before you realize you can't get out. Ok.

Alley pond has some great trails through marshes and forested areas. You are likely to see some wonderful birds on your walk. The school programs they offer are absolutely wonderful ; my students said it was the best day ever ! Thank you for the fantastic program. The new building opened in November and is beautiful.

The new bldg has all the amenities for class visits, the mini terrarium has a nice variety of birds and reptiles and there is a classroom experience for groups. The Douglaston windmill burnt down in 1988, the replica is in need of repair.

This is a super fun place to come with young children. You can enter free and see a lot of different types of animals up close in their cages such as birds, turtles, lizards, snakes, bunny rabbits, Guinea pigs, and much more! A neat educational experience for young ones.

I was really disappointed with the way spokes person they chose to speak to children. He didn't speak with patience. Plus spoke a hour in a half walked them outside to show them things they see everything. To me this trip was a waist of money & time. He spoke about mom's milk , wine telling the kids they only have 1 chance to touch the animals because they are his. I will love a refund for my $27. He pretty much got paid to tell the kids what they learned in school already and to speak like they aren't 1st graders. But everyone experience is different. A room full of animals.

Definitely a great place for the kids to have fun learning & exploring. The staff was super friendly, accommodating, & sweet. Not your typical party place, which kept the kids interested!

Great playground, beautiful park, stroller-friendly trails, and the environmental center has a little room with rabbits, lizards, turtles, birds, etc to check out. A lovely way to spend an afternoon

I truly enjoy Alley Pond Park because there is plenty of space and areas that one can become one with nature. Alley Pond Park has baseball courts, a playground, a walking trail, picnic areas, a nature preserve, a golf course, and much more. I recommend this park for anyone that is looking forward to relax and enjoy peace and tranquility.

Great place to take the kids, whenever you wanna kill a few hours. The newly renovated space is great! And you can still go on the nature walks behind the facility. Also, a food option for hosting Bday parties. They charge $375-425 to rent a room for a 2 hour party.

Protected green areas in excellent condition, as well as parking and children's locations; They should improve the conditions of the restrooms.

Nice environmental center , but it is quite small. The animal story time is not worth spending on, as they are similar to library classes that are free.

A good park for fun and games. You also cook in the park BBQ. Try the chicken and waffles.

Took our local cub scouts for a hike here to meet some of their badge requirements. Staff was extremely helpful and excellent with the kids. Before the hike, they explained certain nature related terms and showed them some animals (ei. Box turtle, rabbit, dove) that really got the kids excited. Great place!

This place is a bit of a Hidden Gem in the neighborhood. Currently located in a temporary space - they have great educational programs for kids who are interested in nature/animals/environment. The staff are great and my kids consistently ask to go back to classes - or even just for a visit. I love supporting organizations like APEC.

They basically just exploit animals & don’t care about their well being. Little sister tried to bring in an injured baby animal so they can take care of it & they were extremely rude and yelled at her..who yells at a child for trying to save an animal..disgusting & no recommendations of where to bring it to save its life. All they really want is your money they couldn’t care less about what happens to the animals

Very nice and cozy park; bring your grill and enjoy. A lot of space for children to play.

A wonderful place to celebrate kids' birthdays! My 8 y.o. was really happy to be there, and all her guests, too. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, interactive activities and no time for being bored at all. Their price is reasonable, too.

Geared towards children, clean, and educational. Some of the animal enclosures were sparce and a couple of the animals looked like they were in need of veterinary checkups. (For example, a constant blackbeard on a Beardie generally means that they are ill, even in mating season.) That said, the level of love is evident, both in the desire to share interactions with others, and the way that the workers interact with the animals themselves.
