It’s been a painful experience working with Rival’s GM Zach. He is unresponsive and non-communicative, almost like he doesn’t want to do the job. I purchased a personal training membership package, and went to speak to him in-person to schedule the lessons. He said “email me”, completely shrugging me off although he could’ve booked me right then and there. After I emailed him, he took two days to respond and confirm a date/time. When I went to the gym, there was no personal trainer - Zach had not gotten me scheduled with any personal trainer. I lost 60 min of travel time and parking fees. After all this, there was not even one apology from him. His response was “wires got crossed”.

Constructive feedback: For how much the gym charges, it is pretty limited in terms of range of equipment. Positive feedback: Staff members very friendly and personable. Overall a pretty clean gym environment. Complaints: Ripped my Achilles tendon (minimum 3 months before I can even limp around again). Justin, the owner, refused to extend the membership pause period for an extra two months while I was disabled. I eventually cancelled after paying for two months of wasted membership due to its predatory cancellation policies. At no point did Justin attempt to make this right.

I went to this gym 5-6 days a week (usually early weekday mornings) for about 3 months straight while I lived in Seattle temporarily. This is the ideal community gym. There is so much equipment here, all clean and pretty new, and just enough of everything. It was never, ever packed, and I'm not sure I ever waited for equipment once in three months. The general vibe is also excellent--people are low-key and nice but also serious about working out. I always felt safe, respected, and welcomed here, especially as a woman. All of the staff here were extremely helpful and friendly, and Jim even greeted me by name every day despite me being brand new. Other gym members were also extremely polite and respectful of each others' space. I'll miss this gym a lot, and it'll be the standard to which I hold all my other gyms to going forward.

I started at Rival fitness with the strength squad which helped me learn lifting with good technique, introduced me to friendly people, and helped me go through some rough times since that was right after I moved to Seattle when things were under COVID restrictions, so the place means a lot to me personally. That was over 3 years ago, since then I have been a regular, 4-7 times a week, mostly very early mornings, the owner, the staff, trainers and trainees are very friendly, there is a lot of free weights as well as machines and I have done some powerlifting training, bodybuilding training, cardio, fitness classes, cycling classes, rowing class and a few other things so I think it’s a VERY well-rounded gym where you can find equipment and classes for most training modalities. The one thing I do not like would be when they do group classes on the gym main floor that takes roughly half the space, making it hard for anybody to train during those times. It’s definitely my favorite boutique gym in Seattle, 100% would recommend.

A great gym for classes. It is expensive but I've found that the price motivates me to go the the gym more. Definitely come here for the classes. They are awesome with great instructors that watch your form. Using it as a normal gym only is a bit of a waste of money. You can find the same equipment elsewhere for much less. But the classes keep me. Motivated and the online booking system is great as well.

poor customer service , they don't cancel your membership. I emailed them several time to cancel it, no one replied. and I asked the staff there to do that, instead he asked to mail them again, make sure you cancel it in 20 days advanced, before they charge you again.

I left another gym (in Pioneer Square) because I was intrigued by the class offerings at Rival. After a 7 day free pass, I'm now a Rival member. I like that the various classes focus on cardio, endurance and strength. Plus, the weights and machines are top notch. Getting to chat with the owner on the first day was nice - I got to hear about his philosophy about fitness and wellness.

Friendly people, but crowded, and difficult to workout while classes are going on.

I think the workout area is pretty cool. They have an area with free weights and trx machines. It has a kind of turf on the floor which is great because the ground is soft. They also have indoor rowing classes which is good for changing up your cardio every now and then. One thing I am not a fan of is that they don't have separate men and women's locker rooms. You walk in to the locker room and then they have restroom and shower areas behind closed doors but there are just women and men walking in and out. Let's just call it awkward.

Great gym for people who are serious about weightlifting and fitness in general. It had everything I wanted (squat racks, barbells, pull-up bars, standing cable machines), which is quite a contrast to the more corporate gyms that have a bunch of cardio and sit-down isolation weight machines. The iron squads are also great for people who are just getting into barbell lifting. After moving out of downtown Seattle, I definitely miss this gym.

I've always found the personal trainers there to be just what the name calls for, "personal" in the way they tailor a work out to make sure it's working and right for your body and you have an opportunity to give continuous feedback so that you feel like an integral part of your fitness team. I have not had that same personalized service in any of the big gyms where I've worked with trainers in the past. Rival is just the right size gym, too, with a focus on more contemporary approaches to fitness. They've become an iconic part of Capitol Hill!

Great little gym, i love going to it cause it doesn't feel like a meat market! Just everyone doing their thing, has most of the things i look for in a gym ( no pool though) and the classes are a great way to get your sweat on with top notch instructors!

I was frustrated by the overcrowding at another local gym so walked into Rival. This place is amazing! Never a problem getting on the equipment. The staff is great. Always clean. No locker rooms, just private bathrooms/showers and a public locker area (which I like). And all the equipment I need. I'm getting back into great shape thanks to the great atmosphere here!

Best gym on the hill. After belonging to 4 (yes, 4!) other gyms in Seattle, I finally landed at Rival. I couldn’t be happier with the experiences I’ve shared with them over the past year. The personal trainers are some of the most knowledgeable and dedicated professionals in the industry and their regimens actually work. Over the past 20 years, I have done regular cardio and weight training; however, in the past 12 months I’ve learned new and useful techniques that will last a lifetime. I personally work with Ron (amazing trainer and highly recommended), but everyone else seems to do great work as well. Regarding the dreaded gym cancelation process, they are once again professional and virtuous. Sadly, I have to move from Seattle, but Rival worked with me to cancel the membership quickly and easily. No pain at all.

I came here for the bootcamp class and was a little bored, it was a good workout but lacked the energy I craze. I came back for their rowing class and I was sore for 2 days! I am coming back to row ASAP

I know it makes no sense but I find I am ten times more likely to go to a gym when it has new saunas, steam rooms, nice showers, unlimited towels, mouthwash, hair dryers and all the other luxurious amenities at the Rival Fitness. Besides that the equipment is nice and up to date. I highly enjoy the spin bikes with optional virtual instruction, and am excited to check out the extensive list of group classes.

I don't have enough great things to say about Rival Fitness. As someone who lives/works in Broward but spends my weekends in Miami, I love that I can visit the Davie location and Wynwood location with my membership. Each time you come, you WILL get a great workout - and a different one at that.

I've been going to this for two months now and so far I've encountered zero problems. They have everything you need, you name it. Yes, it's a little pricey but worth it. It's a 10 minute walk from where u live so I don't use parking but ik they validate it for 3 hours. It's also next to a food court so if you get hungry after your workout out you can always treat yourself with something healthy from the court.

I love Rival! I’m a strength squad member and while it’s pricy, it’s so worth it for me. My class really feels like a community and Zach is an awesome trainer :)

One of the best gym's I've joined! I was an athlete when I was younger and had been in and out of gyms since HS. I have some knowledge but met w Ron after signing up. He reviewed my routine and helped me tweak it to my goal. It's been a HUGE help! Rival also held a series of free seminars for proper form, which helped increase the weight of my lifts. The classes are fun and a nice break from lifting. The staff is friendly and tries to know the members. I've always been able to get my workout in w/o waiting much for equipment, if at all. Also, the body composition machine is a major bonus! I've never had a chance to use one and it's really helped me stay focused.

A great gym at a great value. They have all of the equipment you need in about the right amounts!

I signed up for an unlimited membership before even trying out a class because of all the great things I had heard about the coaching. It's been a month since I joined and I'm beyond thrilled that I did ! Thomas and Nate offer the right amount of support, encouragement, and push! I always leave the gym having learned something and feeling accomplished. The programming is a good mix of strength mobility and conditioning. Also all the members here are super friendly and welcoming!

I've been a member for years and the staff is incredibly nice and the gym is well outfitted and clean. I've been working out with Heather Robinson @hd.robinson and she has helped me make great strides after recovering from a herniated disc in my neck. She is super knowledgable and can adjust every workout to how my body is feeling that day. She has helped me gain my strength back safely to resume my daily activities and I have surpassed far beyond where I thought I could get my strength.

A close friend recommended that I consider training at Rival to achieve a personal goal. She was a member since its opening. I noticed the kindness of the staff greetings when I arrived and appreciated the cleanliness of the space. My early observations about Rival continue to be validated every visit. My initial meet and greet with the owner also exceeded my expectations. When I shared my pullup goal with him, he knew how to tackle it immediately and recommended that I work with Heather. I have had many trainers over the years but my training with Heather has been first-class. She pushes me physically while emphasizing mindfulness for focus. Her expertise and care allowed me to get beyond past limitations, get stronger and stay positive. After every session Heather emails me thoughtful summaries about what we accomplish during our workout, then delves deeper into topics around diet and form, always providing action steps to take outside of our training sessions. When trying to meet a goal, I can be my own worst enemy. If you have a goal like me, the encouragement, professionalism, and highly qualified trainers like Heather make Rival the place to be! And YES, I met my goal in less than four months.

The best gym by far I have ever been to in Seattle. Classes, instructors, equipment, staff are all top notch. The gym is also very well designed. I mostly go to classes, but I did some personal training with Heather and she is awesome. She strikes the perfect balance between being supportive and encouraging, and being challenging and honest in her feedback. She is very attentive and follows up with recommendations after each session.

Nothing but good things to say about Rival. The staff is wonderful, trainers are knowledgeable and authentic, the facility is always clean, and it’s rarely “too” busy like most gyms can be. Overall, this is the most welcoming gym I have ever been to. The energy in this place is always great. I tried all the other gyms in the area before coming to Rival and they really do not compare. It was a a no brainer the moment I walked in.
