State Street Bar, what's their to say? It's an iconic Bellingham mainstay. Go to school in Bham? You ended up at State Street at some point. Drop out of school in Bham? You've gone to State Street. State is there even on the holidays you're probably supposed to be with your in-laws, but don't want to because Uncle Al is still touchy about that time you mentioned you accidentally held hands with a boy (wow that conversation should have died at Thanksgiving 2017 but here we are) It's a very cozy bar with a classic aesthetic with a solid mix of college knuckleheads, wise old sailors and honestly three of the coolest bartenders in town. Lisa, Kamiah, and Emily hold it the EF down with the drinks and fried foods, and excellent conversation. I was just a lonely alcoholic pool junkie (free pool on Sundays) before I found State, and now, I'm still all of those things but it's cheaper here than like Bellingham Bar Grill. A perfect blend of college kids, seasoned drinking vets, and the occasional transient all competing for the ski ball hi-score. When you walk in, 2022 feels like 2012, and the memories feel like 1999.

I walk inside. A tasteful fake plant, a vine of some kind, drapes itself along the divider on my left. A friendly gentleman sitting at a podium asks me for my identification card, and I oblige. He then places a stamp upon my wrist. I walk forwards to the bar. The award-winning Pabst brew is a mere seven dollars and fifty cents for an entire pitcher! Of course I order it. After a glass or two I engage in a fiercely competitive game of air hockey with my companion. I lose, yet my sense of good-fortune and enjoyment is not lost. I contemplate the prospect of challenging him to a game of billiards, of which there are two playing surfaces in the back room of this fine establishment, but I decide not to, fearing another defeat. We sit and drink our beer while eating some delicious, and complimentary, popcorn. I use the restroom to relieve myself and am surprised at the coziness inside it. Shortly after, we exit, heading to the next place to spend a piece of our lives, carrying with us the fond memories of the establishment named "State Street Bar".

Lame! Got kicked out for no reason. She charged us for drinks, then told us we actually couldn't drink them because we had to leave. Didn't really make sense to us when they have a bar full or underage kids drink and kicked us out when we were the only ones in the bar. You can tell she just didn't want to work. Unfortunate.

The place is really fun buy i went there two times this year and got covid both times (with those being the only times i have gotten it) so i do have to question their cleanliness

This was a really fun bar. They have skeet ball, pool and a juke box. They pour the drinks strong and are reasonably priced. Overall I would go back and reccomend it to others.

Went there tonight and got my id confenscated just for them to tell me i needed my passport and the cops to get it back. When i returned she gave me it back and didnt say another word. Both bartenders were very short and rude with me and not apoligetic at all when it was clearly their fault. Make sure you insist they restart their "professional scaning machine" if your id comes up as fake and its not. Cheep drinks but also cheep serivce

The bartenders were so kind and made the experience at the bar so much more tasteful. It gets really busy and packed, so there isn't much space there on a busy night, but it's definitely worth a visit

Had a lot of fun good atmosphere servers where friendly. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is it is a bit run down. Example the carpets by the pool tables were sticky.

A sleazy dive, you get what you'd expect. Couple of decent pool tables out back.

My favorite spot to get a couple pitchers and play pool with friends. Bartenders are fun as well as other patrons. I like a dive that has old beer cans on the wall.

Went there for a part of my boyfriend’s 21 birthday and the bartender turned us away because it was midnight and we had to β€œwait till the next business day”, very lame

Great dive bar. Nice selection of local beers, mixed drinks, and ciders. They have a rather extensive fried food menu, and a couple different bar games. Comfy chairs, pool, air hockey, and skeeball make this a fun place to unwind. The staff are efficient and knowledgeable.

Pretty dumpy inside and absolutely zero atmosphere. Like walking into an fluorescent arcade full of teenagers. Walked in, looked around, then walked out. Didn't order anything, so not sure about food or service.

Cool atmosphere, the bartender was super nice and helpful with the pool tables that gave us a couple problems. To be expected with old pool tables. Overall a cool place.
