Diamond Jim’s has been one of our favorite delicious, consistent, and reasonable breakfast spots with great service for a while now. Unfortunately, the new owners have entirely changed the menu and increased the prices, to the point where Diamond Jim’s has lost its diner charm! No more chicken fried steak, no more half orders on Benedicts or hash, and the hash doesn’t even come with eggs anymore? Great service still as always as the employees seem to have stayed on under the new ownership, but unfortunately as long time fans of Diamond Jim’s we won’t be returning under the new ownership.

The kind of Americana diner that you just don't see very often these days... You know, the kinda joint where you can walk in, belly up to the counter, and get hot coffee and a delicious breakfast for little more than $10. Great place and I hope it's around for decades to come.

Delicious every time, and even though it seems a little pricey, it's tons more food than you really need. Half orders, which are really just regular sized portions, are also available if you don't want to have leftovers or be stuffed to the rafters!

This was a go-to place a few years back. We hadn't been in since before covid as we had moved away. But we were back on a Saturday morning and decided to go in for breakfast. Very sad. Service was good. Food. Yuck. Black, burned hash browns that tasted like a dirty grill and chicken fried steak overcooked and like shoe leather. Eggs were good. English muffin was good. I think they need to turn the grills and fryers down and care more about the food they are producing. Quality first people. Speed second. If I was the server I would not have placed this burnt food in front of a customer. Yuck.

April 2023 - photo of menu If you love pancakes the size of one pancake is “plate-size!” I couldn’t finish the 1-1-1, one pancake, one sausage, one egg. The biscuits & gravy are delicious too!

This is THE place for breakfast. They have got some great country breakfasts and amazing classics to fit all budgets. They have been written about in many local newspapers! Be sure to check out everything on the menu because you can find cool little items if you're not interested in a full meal.

Our breakfast was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was pretty good; however, I do feel like the restaurant and rest room could use a little extra care in cleanliness. Interesting to see that the owner only thanks reviewers that give 5 stars but doesn't address constructive feedback. How is any restaurant able to improve if they don't take the time to acknowledge their customers concerns. I feel it is in good taste to be open to improving. Just a consideration. It’s a solid place for breakfast: portions are big and prices decent. Service: consistently good. Can get crowded at times. Food: ok. Nice variety of options to choose from which should satisfy any group experience/picky eaters. Signature biscuit and gravy is decent.

Enjoy a great breakfast at the grill. Come early as seating fills up quick. Frendly staff with Home made biskets and gravy that will feed 2 at least. So good.

Probably the BEST Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had! My BF told me I needed to try this place so we went this morning. My Eggs Benedict was perfect. Absolutely phenomenal. The red potatoes were very tasty. My BFs biscuits and gravy were also excellent. I’m from the South and those were on par w my Grandmother’s (don’t tell her I said that). Service was fast and friendly. Cute, old fashioned diner atmosphere. I will take everybody I know there!

We’re from Canada, decided to to do some shopping in the US. I had googled this restaurant which had great reviews. We weren’t disappointed. Coffee was good, best omelette I’ve ever eaten, staff were very friendly. Definitely will go back.

When I walked in, it had surprisingly less people than is usually has. But it will typically have quite a few people, and you might have to wait. But it's never too long. The food here was amazing, and the service was too. The chocolate chip pancakes are a personal favorite, but I can only eat a short stack (2 pancakes), because of how big they are. The bacon is very flavorful, as if every single piece of cuisine. I highly recommend this fine establishment for a nice bite.

This is a diner frequented by locals which is a great start. Good, fast and friendly service. Great food. Love that most breakfast items comes in half or full order. We had the Cajun eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwich and blueberry pancake. American breakfast done right.

Delicious meals all around our table. I love a good Rueben sandwich and was so happy to see I could order a half!! Perfect serving with a yummy dill spear! And Cheryl is delightful! Thank you, can't wait to return!

(TIP: Off-street parking is best approached from Halleck toward Meridian. There are 5-6 spots in this one-way segment of street. Google Maps directed me this way but I'm not sure if it is always so "smart".) We had a great breakfast that Diamond Jim's. One special plus for us was that they offer veggie sausage as an alternative to the real thing. AND they offer hashbrowns (my fav) as well as cubed seasoned potatoes (hubby's fav), which they abbreviate on the menu as AFPs (American Fried Potatoes). We had a veggie benedict, both kinds of potatoes (of course), pancakes (blueberry & chocolate chip), eggs over medium (cooked perfectly), and veggie sausages. Coffee was unlimited, very good, and our server generously offered to refill our mugs several times. Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant was warm, clean, and inviting.

Love this place. They enjoy patrons dressed as animals (ask for a 10% discount if dressed up). It's not what it was when the original owner had it, but the still try to grab that alternative down home vibe, and we always love the food.

Best French toast that I’ve ever had! Also try the red chopped potatoes but ask that they put them in the fryer…. So good!!!

Diamond Jim’s is a local landmark — I hesitate to post because selfishly I don’t want it to get too popular…nothing better than an early morning breakfast at DJG

Thoroughly enjoyed my first trip for breakfast. I had a full order of corned beef hash made with cubed red potatoes and red bell peppers. It was such a big serving I had to take some to go. The service was fantastic! Someone was around often with coffee giving warm ups. A great diner that I will add as one of my regular spots.

I’ve been to *almost* every breakfast place in Bellingham multiple times, and Diamond Jim’s wins “most frequented.” It isn’t the top of the list in terms of quality, but it’s close and it definitely goes on the “Bellingham Best-kept Secret’s list.” Vibe: classic 50’s diner Food quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (slightly above par diner fare) Atmosphere: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (energetic, crowded) Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (quick and clean) Staff: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (loveable)

Great food, great service and great prices! They immediately served us coffee and water, with unlimited refills in a timely fashion. I had the 2-2-2. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the blueberry pancakes were just like mom used to make with not too much butter and real syrup. 10 out of 10, all for much less than $20.

One of the all too rare breakfast places in Bellingham that have hash browns for breakfast. Breakfast all day! Cheryle and crew always provide great service and keep my cup of decaf full!

We have lived in Bellingham since 2003. Boy have we been missing out. The shrimp po boy and the turkey pesto melt were excellent. The server was very pleasant and attentive. My husband and I will definitely be back soon. Lisa and Paul

The pancakes they are famous for have completely changed in the 25 years I’ve been coming here. The color, texture and size of them are different. So heartbroken to see! I tried them three different times to make sure it wasn’t a cook issue, sadly it’s not.?

This is one of our favorite places in Bellingham for breakfast. The menu offers lots of options I often choose an omelette (the tomato, feta, mushroom, and spinach omelette is a favorite), and the biscuits and gravy are excellent. Service is usually good, there's a combination of booths and tables and chairs to choose from. There's art by local artists on the walls, and it has a traditional diner atmosphere. Family members who visit from out of state always ask to go to Diamond Jim's on there annual visits, and we're happy to oblige. Recommended.
