OMG how it is possible I haven't reviewed the Old World Deli yet?! I've been going there for almost 20 years and have loved every visit! We started going when they were in their smaller space down the street from their current location, and followed them to their current swanky, brick-walled, high-ceilinged space just a block away. Billed as a European-style deli, the OWD does everything right. Their soups are freshly prepared from scratch; their sandwiches use the best bread, best cheese, and best meat to be found in town. And their wine selection is one of the best in town - and surprisingly affordable. And, of course, don't miss their specialty grocery shelves, which are a great place to look for stocking stuffers for the foodie in your life. They even have a food/wine club where you can indulge monthly in an amazing dinner experience not open to the public. Old World Deli has other special events, like their 10-for-$10 monthly wine tasting nights that I get to as often as possible. The most recent one also featured impossibly fresh, delicious raw oysters on the half shell. Oysters AND wine? Two of my favorites in one place - yum! The Old World Deli is way more than just a "deli" - it's an experience, and a business that I consider quintessential to downtown Bellingham. They do it right!

I've only ever had one sandwich here, but it was the best damn sandwich ever. Pastrami with cheese is mind blowing and I can't recommend this place enough. A but pricey but worth it when you leave content and you can shop the cute market of sauces, spices, wine, etc while you wait. Always a visit when coming to bellingham

Came to Old World Deli on the most beautiful spring day last weekend. They had an excellent selection of cold sandwiches, paninis, and more. There was plenty of seating indoors and some culinary goods for sale, such as olive oil, tinned fish, and wine. Lovely spot!

Surprisingly, it took me years to finally come here but holy cow, this place is awesome. The Hungarian soup is amazing and any one of their paninis is fantastic. My favorite sandwich is the Reuben. It’s really good. They also have some culinary stuff for sale like olives, olive oil, huge wine selection, home made hummus, etc. As a real estate professional, I often meet clients and vendors here for lunch. Great spot.

Old World is hands down my favorite lunch spot in town! I typically order off of their specials menu as the options are always delicious and rotate daily. Some notable favorites are the Smoked Chicken Cuban and K-Pop Ruben, a Korean take on the Ruben but with kimchi. Everything is made from scratch including wonderful soups that are always exemplary. They also have dry goods, homemade sausage, pate’, and many other meat and cheese options to stock up on. The owner is very knowledgeable on wine and they carry an excellent selection to enjoy at home or at the deli with NO CORKAGE FEE! Lastly, I love their catering services! My real estate company hosts multiple events every year and Old World has always hit the mark! If you’ve never been to OWD, do yourself a favor and go!! 10/10

I didn't really like the sandwich I ordered. It was vegetables on focaccia. A slice of lettuce, a slice of zucchini, a very spicy sauce, a lot of bread. The bread was good.

Old World Deli catered a picnic for 26. The mixed mini sandwich tray, crudites and cookies were fabulous! A big hit with our guests! A big hit with me as the quality of food superb and I loved the ease of placing an order and picking it up! That's minimum prep and anxiety for any party host!

Miss the Breadfarm bread, but the sandwiches are still some of the best in Bellingham. A lot of the meats are cured in-house. But be aware: the grocery options can easily get the better of your intentions, and you'll walk out with a new appreciation of the nuances of olive oil and fancy chips. 😁

Just steps from the YMCA, this outstanding Deli was my go-to lunch spot for after my workout. The location is perfect, the atmosphere is very inviting, all that brick, the wood floors, the high ceilings, the lively conversations with the many locals gathering here, and the food, well...they have all those awards for a reason! Absolutely incredible flavors, and the freshness of all their products is amazing. I had the Mediterranean Tuna with a tasty and crisp pickle! And a freshly baked cookie... Plenty of wonderful wines from around the globe, and the variety of so many deli meats and cheeses is overwhelming. Delicious food for sure! Highly recommend!!

Best sandwiches and in the top 3 food places in town. Great soups, delicious sandwiches. Great selection of exotic ish dry goods.

This might be my favorite place for lunch in the world. Old World Deli has it all. The sandwich specials are always inventive and delicious. You'd slap your mother for their soups, and the wine selection is impeccable. Oh, the wines! Also, don't miss the chocolates or artisanal pantry staples.

It's a really great sandwich spot. The sandwiches are so good that we usually stop here and try the different sandwiches when we are in the states. Staff is also remarkable as they are very friendly and kind. From your friends up North :)

Perfect downtown deli - great selection of sandwiches, salads and soups. Hand cured bacon, their own sausages and a large selection of wines and imported goodies - great for stocking stuffers and gifts for foodie friends.

Wow, what a great spot! We shared a wonderful lunch the other day and would absolutely recommend. Great atmosphere for a work meeting or getting together with friends. Reasonably priced and fresh ingredients. If you haven't checked out Old World Deli yet, you are missing out!

Stopped at a small town Bellingham for a quick bite. Turned out to be a good place for delicious Paninis.

I would give it more stars but it seems overpriced for what you are getting. My lunch was really good. I had the tuna salad. It has capers which I love! The greens were fresh. I was pretty hungry and it was not quite enough. I paid 20% tip then had to get my food and bus my own table... if i knew that then I would have given a tip commensurate with the level of service.

The fact that I don't eat at Old World Deli every day is a testament to my self control. They have soup, sandwiches and pastries that are all so delicious. The Hungarian mushroom soup is a must try. Round off lunch or dinner with a bottle of wine and you have a solid deli. Try it out.
