Cyclists beware! I arrived around 4:30 pm after pedaling up from Seattle to find that the bike storage was full and they would not let me take my bike into my room. I said that when I reserved the room there was nothing that told me that I couldn't take a bike to my room and the desk attendant said "well, it doesn't say that you can either." ? I asked why and they said because they didn't want the carpets to get dirty - as dog after dog came waltzing through the lobby. They said that pet owners pay a deposit, so I offered to pay a deposit and they said no. I asked what am I supposed to do? and they suggested I park it outside in front of the hotel or in their parking garage. My bike is my prized possession and very expensive so they offered me a cable lock. I tried to find another hotel but all were full (and I was going to have to pay for this room as well) so eventually I had to accept that the only thing to do was put it in the parking garage. Beautiful property and room but I didn't sleep super well. In the morning, my bike was fine but as I was checking out, I met another gentleman with a bike who said they let him put his bike in his room. So disappointing. I won't be back.

Our stay at the hotel was spent in the coveted Lighthouse Suite for a special occasion. I feel as though we could have stayed in a suite in the Holiday Inn and received the same level of experience. The room was in fairly drastic disrepair in multiple areas and the overall experience did not surprise or delight in any way. When we brought our room repair concerns up to the hotel managers they admitted our concerns were legitimate and warranted, but just as quickly dismissed them. They made no attempt to make us feel valued. This stay, room and hotel were chosen diligently and we couldn't have been more let down by our experience. I'm very let down to have paid for and expected a 4-star experience and receiving a 0-star stay.

Lovely hotel on the water with plenty of character. The staff are all very helpful and cheerful. The hotel has bikes and helmets that you can borrow to cycle around the area which is a really nice touch. Breakfast was also good. The only downside is they have a decorative fire outside the building which looks cool but is a waste of fuel and emissions.

Stayed here while moving my daughter into her apartment for college. It was the most luxurious place i have ever stayed. The room was beautiful and so comfortable i would have stayed in bed all day but the views were even better. Lots of places to safely walk and enjoy the scenery. It was quiet and absolutely perfect for a weekend getaway. I can’t wait to bring my husband to enjoy the romance of the hotel.

Wanted a 'get-away with a water view, and quiet, comfortable with restaurants close by, Hotel Bellwether exceeded expectations. The sunsets were stunning, watching the boating, walking at the park across the marina was spectacular. Thank you. The wait to get into the room was longer than anticipated, because it didn't seem that the hotel was booked out, and we waiting until nearly 4:00pm. The staff checked us in early, said they would call us, when the room was ready and that didn't happen. HIGHLY recommend to anyone who wants to have a special place to and it feels like you are far away and so close to so many amenities.

We booked the Owners Suite, and we couldn't have been happier. OMG, what a view of the water and the San Juan Islands. It is a huge room and had a great deck. The tub was deep with nice jets. The grounds are beautiful, and the fire pits at night are a must. We will definitely stay here again. A huge plus is complimentary covered and locked parking. We did room service for breakfast, and it was delicious 😋

I wasn't a guest at the hotel, I just stopped in to see the beautiful Christmas decorations. They are hosting A Festival of Trees, which adorn the lobby and passageway. The staff was so friendly, they treated my dog and I as though we were guests. The views from the hotel are fantastic and there is a wonderful walking trail that runs along the hotel. I walk here frequently.

Just a fantastic experience. I was here for a work retreat, and my wife tagged along and had the best time. The location, the food, the amenities are all top notch. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We hosted a small wedding at the Bellwether (Garden and Admiral Room) for my daughter and had a Bayfront suite. The Bellwether made the weekend absolutely perfect for us in every way! I can't say enough GREAT things about the service we received from everyone on the Bellwether team, from the professional and extremely helpful event planner, the front desk, dining and bar services, and housekeeping. The ambiance, the rooms, the food - it's all 5-stars. The Bellwether not only delivers 'service with a smile' but also service with careful anticipation of what's needed and then delivering it before you even ask. Highly Recommend not only for weddings and events for for any travelers seeking high quality service.

Just had a wonderful 2 night weekend. Beautiful room with great views!. The pub in the hotel has fantastic food and live music (the piano guy is great one night, other night, guitar not so great).....but overall wonderful stay! Hope to come back this summer! Book it!!!

I only did a walk through to get rates and see the Christmas Trees setting up from Local businesses throughout their Hotel Lobby & did a walk through. As I love decoration ideas ! All throughout December you can Vote on a 🌲 , and donations go to Orphanages for Children waiting to be adopted. The trees are incredible creative ! Each one a different theme .

Beautiful place indoor and outdoor. Quiet, clean, convenient, adult atmosphere...a perfect getaway. My room was spacious and comfortable with a very nice tub, fireplace and a small balcony. Awesome paved walking/biking path along the marina with a number of great waterfront restaurants. So grateful they allow pets. The staff were generous and made my birthday special. I would def stay again.

We got married at the Bellwether this past weekend and I cannot recommend it enough. Courtney and the team were so amazing to work with throughout the planning process, being patient and flexible to all our questions and asks. Our guests were blown away by the food, service and overall beauty of the venue. We could not have asked for a more perfect day.

Thanksgiving break with our WWU daughter. Beautiful views, and gorgeous room. We have a puppy and they treated him with all the love he could want. Convenient to the marina walking trail, which helped with puppy and holiday calories. Dry underground parking helped with loading pup, kennel, and luggage. You have to try the restaurant. Amazing and creative dishes.

Wonderful hotel! Bed was great, view was great, front desk staff is so nice. Room was super clean. They called me to ask if we liked our room once we checked in. That was amazing. Bathroom shower is great. Did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on that. One thing to note is that this area really doesn't have much to offer regarding walking to restaurants and shops. Go to Fairhaven for that. We did walk the harbor and recommend going north along the harbor as opposed to south.

Fantastic place! Marina view rooms are so awesome! Rooms have a fireplace and spa like bathroom. From the plush towels to the cloud like pillows, just yes all day! 2 fire pits on the premises, you could just melt away here.

Nicely located hotel, so class, clean and smells good. It was just a quick coffee stop for us, so nit so much of an experience, but we enjoyed the nature around it. So friendly staff, very lovely.

First, the hotel's location is really great. I can't stop praising the location right next to the marina, making it easy for me to reach and explore tourist attractions on board. This is really convenient and creates a unique travel experience. The bedrooms at the hotel are very comfortable and convenient. I had a good night's sleep and woke up feeling refreshed. The room is beautifully designed and fully equipped, giving me a cozy and comfortable feeling.

Always lovely. I love to sit in the bar by the fireplace and look out the window. I’ve stayed once and been back to grab lunch or dinner now that I’m semi local.

Comfortable hotel on beautiful Bellingham Bay. You will be greeted by their very friendly “concierge “ Belle who provides lots of licks ! The picture is the view from the 3rd floor room that I enjoyed during my stay. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. There are a few restaurants close by and downtown is within walking distance.

Excellent food. My salmon burger/sandwich changed significantly from a great cut of salmon to a patty. Both were good. The first one was great.

Holly at the front desk was absolutely spectacular. She gave me a run down about all of the room options available. Super easy to talk with and so informative. She’s stellar. 10/10 customer service. Can’t recommend her enough!

We have been staying here with our pooch off and on for 5 years. Spectacular location and views on water side, consistent excellent service, relatively quiet, comfortable beds, excellent on site restaurant, convenient, secure underground parking, car chargers available. Rooms are spacious, clean, with large jetted tubs. Very few negatives: Some of decor is a bit dated, only King beds (we prefer doubles), and it is very hard to regulate room temp (we seem to have that issue at most hotels!). All this goodness comes at a price which IMO is reasonable; they often have good online specials off peak season.

We stay here every year. It's a very clean place to stay with a most beautiful view. You can walk by the water, or you can drive a few minutes to town and walk the beautiful town of Bellingham. There are so many places to eat. The hotel also has its own restaurant, "The Lighthouse ". They have good food and wonderful waiters. There are other restaurants in walking distance as well. We always have a very relaxing time when we go there.

Just stayed with my wife and dog for the weekend and couldn’t be happier. Great, calm location and still convenient for getting around town. Very nice staff too. Will absolutely come back here again.

I don’t recommend the hotel bellwether for a larger wedding. They are having excessive internal communication issues that unfortunately trickled down to us (their customers) they attempted multiple times to charge for things or “services” that were included. Attempt to increase food prices two months before the wedding, charge an additional fee for the venue - even after contracts were signed at the agreed upon price point. They even pulled food from the buffet prior to all of our guests eating, though we had food left over. Jim the gen. manager called to harass my husband and I and now we have been getting passive aggressive emails from their staff asking my husband and I to take down our reviews. Many of our guest do not speak English and the bellwether used this as an excuse to pull food early from the reception stating that it wasn’t their fault that the staff couldn’t understand my guest request for food. They also booked another wedding at the same time as ours, and the other wedding was right next to ours…Really disappointed in the behavior of the bellwether, and several of their staff. I would say, use the location for pictures, but go somewhere else for your wedding. The hidden fees at the bellwether will get you. Everyone’s nice, until they are paid… and it goes downhill from there. Start your marriage on the right foot, and avoid this venue.

Super clean grounds & interior, the front desk gals were helpful and friendly, easy registration, well appointed rooms, and all the contact we received whether it was from housekeeping, the hospitality staffer for our in room coffee bar to the Lighthouse Bar & Grill staff, all were pleasant. Ruth from housekeeping was especially nice. Looking forward to my next stay!

We enjoyed our stay. We stayed at a bay view room on the 3rd floor and thought the room was nice and spacious as well as the amenity selection. Staff were curtious and helpful and the restaurant in the hotel is very convenient. Our one detractor from giving a 5/5 was that on our departure day the elevator was out of order. No explanation was offered and when we were checking out it wasn't even mentioned (had to carry our luggage from the 3rd floor to the underground garage). We were very actually understanding that things sometimes happen, but would've been nice to acknowledge it. Note : when we stayed we came back later at night and there was only one parking spot available. In short, it can get tight there. Also note that train horns are audible but did not wake us up.

Exceptional hotel in an exceptional location. The view is amazing from the room. Professional and friendly staff. We enjoyed the food, running along the ocean and having a great outdoor dinner. Family friendly. A must stay.

We stayed here recently for a wedding and were very pleased with our experience! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the intimacy of the window over the large tub connecting to the bedroom was fun. Room service was lovely and amenities were great. I was pleasantly surprised to find a makeup removing cloth in the bathroom when we got back from the reception. Such attention to detail! I mentioned off-handedly to housekeeping when I saw them in the hall one morning that we could use more coffee and towels, but that we didn’t need full housekeeping. Despite not coming around to our room for several hours, they didn’t forget what I’d said and someone showed up with both items later that morning! What a change from other hotels where you almost never get what you ask for. I can’t believe how diligent their staff were. If you’re staying here on a budget, I’d recommend upgrading to a bay view room if you can squeeze a little more space out of your budget. We didn’t, and while our room was perfectly nice, we definitely felt like we missed out on the view. If I had to nitpick one thing, the HVAC system is rather noisy and the ice machine is shockingly loud at night despite us being a bit down the hall from it. While it didn’t disturb our rest, it was definitely noisier than I’d like. Overall, we’d happily return and were very impressed!

We did a little stay-cation at the Bellwether and were absolutely blown away! The rooms were gorgeous, the view was stunning and the staff was just phenomenal! Dinner at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill was fantastic. I would definitely recommend staying here, we certainly will be again ❤
