This district is loud all the time so be prepared to party! Room has amazing views but skimps (one robe, one toilet roll). Breakfast is ok, be prepared to Go slow and to ask at every step and wait. Servers are nice and friendly! The rooftop is fab! Reception service was ok, they messed up our taxi time to the airport when leaving so that wasn’t good. However happy hour / sunset room bar service is awesome!!!!

luxury hotel with a good view of the city and great security because there are many beggars who would try to ask you for money. On a rooftop they have a bar called envy sometimes they host fancy events like fashion show. As for ordering food you have to be patient you don't get super fast service I think it's because they have limited staff because of covid the staff here does speak English and that's a plus they also can help you arrange tours and recommend you the best bars don't go to gusto's waste of time and money. The rooms here are very spacious and nice be careful if you invite guests to your room whatever they take from the mini bar you have to pay at checkout and if you try to leave without check out the form you sign gives them the right to charge your card after you leave and you get charged late check out fee. I have zero complaints about the staff in the property everything was five stars in my opinion. If you stay here make sure you check out the pool

Really friendly staff, a great location, and a modern hotel with all the amenities you'd expect for the price. If you're a party goer that likes to party late, this is it. But don't stay here if you have to wake up early. Loud music until 2am on the weekdays and 4am on the weekends. The hotel gets only 3 stars because they charge an unreasonable amount of fees that's not clarified when you book so check your final bill at checkout. It's in Spanish so if you don't speak Spanish, you need to have them clarify. Although you get free breakfast with your stay, I got charged a restaurant fee and tip even though I never ate at the restaurant outside breakfast. On top of that, the hotel tried to pawn off their monthly insurance policy on me by making me pay for their insurance, something that should already be covered with the high daily rate. Lastly, their guest policy is ambiguous. No matter if you stay 1 night or 1 week, you can only bring 1 guest for free. Every additional guest after that is US$45. Would I stay here again? Only if they got rid of all their excessive fees. But they do get 3 stars for their friendly service, clean amenities, and great location.

How is this hotel rated so highly? What a total scam. The service is awful and they tried to add more fees to my bill the moment I arrived. I notified them of my early arrival the day before and once I arrived the service was cold and unwelcoming and they told me I needed to pay a $100 fee to check into my room early. Who does that? Anyways there is quite a list of difficulties I’ve had with this establishment while spending my week there, but all I can say is the moment I walked in I should’ve known my experience at this hotel was going to be awful. There are many amazing hotels in Medellin, i wouldn't advise booking here if you want to enjoy your time. Maybe these reviews are fake or something. Not sure how I ever settled to stay here. Be warned!

Staff banging on room next door at 2:30 to 3:30 am. Apparently people came just ‘for the night’ but no explanation was given why they were loudly trying to get them out. Noisy area (would have stayed in quieter area next time), could be cleaner too and shower wouldn’t drain properly. People were very friendly and I will say breakfast was great

Really good hotel in centre of Medellin nightlife. Despite this the rooms are remarkably quiet due to the use of being able to seal off the lounge area of the room at night with sliding glass doors. The service provided was great and the staff very helpful. It has a well equipped gym, a roof top pool and restaurant (in addition to the ground floor one) which also doubles as a nightclub. The hotel has 15 floors so has a great view. Would definitely stay there again.

This is not a five star hotel. Design is beautiful and some members of staff are excellent and go above and beyond (Santiago was lovely!). However, our stay was ruined by the following: 1) Very poor soundproofing of rooms means that noise from the TV next door was disruptive, conversations and people in the shower in adjacent rooms can be heard. Hostels have better conditions to sleep in. 2) Air conditioning in rooms is poor - never got below 23 degrees and humidity was an issue overnight (especially when you have to close the windows to keep the noise out). 3) Atmosphere and location. Styled as a relaxing boutique hotel, the truth is it's essentially plumb on a party strip - noise comes in, guests get rowdy and you can hear them until 4am, with staff doing nothing to stop it. 4) Staff. Most were excellent - front desk were unfriendly, unhelpful and outright rude. Did not honour previously agreed late check out (then disagreed that this even existed). Wasn't made welcome, some came across as judgmental and you're made to feel a nuisance. 5) They seem to economise on service and put the emphasis on additional costs/charges. Very basic things like not having two bath robes, or only offering two coffee pods is not 5 star service. Overall, this stay was an abject disappointment. It's not worthy of the hype/reputation.

The front desk personnel was not the most friendly and the fees and unknown fees were exceptional high compared to the service provided. The restaurant crew was very courteous, friendly and helpful. The room wasn't as expected for the price but everything was very clean. Edison from the housekeeping crew was amazing. Definitely not something I would repeat unless I can confirm these things have improved.

This truly is a magic gem, right in the heart of the tourism and craziness. But one of the biggest benefits of this hotel, Is the Envy rooftop. Which is the number one go to spot for the weekend, sitting poolside and the most amazing views around the city. The lines for the rooftop can be very long on the weekend, but if you are staying at the hotel, it’s access all areas.

Do not recommend at all.. Overpriced for the quality and service.. Very poor customer service.. Karen especially.. was she tired ? having a bad day? Definitely not an excuse to treat customers with a condescending tone... Bad check in experience.. waiting 30 minutes waiting... and 2h30 to finally get a room key.. for a room that is terribly smelly.. With staff doing construction outside of the door until 9.30pm.. this is inacceptable.. Only positive is security at the entrance..

How should I sum this up? Oh yeah, AMAZING!! These were some of our final days in Colombia and we were sad that the trip was coming to a close. We had visited Cartagena, and Salento and thought nothing could get better. Upon entering Medellin and then arriving at this hotel, we were blown away. Immediately a doorman, Mauricio met our Uber and took our bags. We were an hour early for our checkout time, but he kept us entertained and carried on conversation with us. Once we were able to check in, we got to our room, and were in awe. The room was massive, hosting a bedroom and a separate sitting room. All of the furniture was very fancy and looked very nice. The bed was extremely comfy and the room had a TV which actually worked, a luxury which we did not encounter in other hotels in Colombia. The room and hotel all around were very clean, well maintained, and luxurious. We made our way up to the rooftop and our jaws dropped. The rooftop boasted a 270 degree view of Medellin. And since it was taller than most of the surrounding buildings, we could see almost all of Medellin. The view was among the best I’ve ever seen in a rooftop. In the evenings, the rooftop was converted from a pool area to a high class restaurant. We could go up there and see the beautiful city while eating amazing food with delicious drinks. In the mornings, the hotel hosted delicious breakfast in the lobby which included: juices, meats, croissants, out meal, eggs, and much more. All of which were quite impressively delicious. But the most amazing part of the entire hotel was the staff. These were among the friendliest people I have ever met in my entire life. Mauricio, Jorge, and Santiago (just to name a few) we’re all EXCEPTIONALLY nice and helpful. Mauricio would always help us take our baggage wherever we went, Jorge would literally walk miles with us just to show us where the train station or some other building was. And Santiago always kept us company and engaged in conversation with us as we waited for our Ubers to arrive. And not just them, ALL of the staff were amazing and immensely boosted our experience to levels I never thought possible. In addition, the hotel has a gym with an outstanding view and great, new equipment, motivating me to workout which is a rare thing for me. Also the safety was amazing, we all felt incredibly safe and at home. The hotel had multiple security guards in front and there was a large population of Colombian police in the surrounding areas. The only downside to this hotel was the pool deck closes at 5 PM so if you are touring somewhere for the day, you never got to use the pool as it was closed when you got back. In conclusion, this place exceeded all of my expectations and if you need a luxurious, safe, and comfortable place to stay while visiting Medellin, this is the place to stay.

This hotel is probably the best choice in the city. Keep in mind minimal age for visitors for this property is 21 though. The staff are great and very attentive however if you get the chance make sure Paola tends to you, she will make sure there are no mistakes and you have a pleasant stay.

My friend and I had a great experience at The Charlee. Great rooms, great location and great people! My bag was delayed getting to Medellin and George took the time to come with me to the airport to make sure I got it. He was also so helpful with booking dinners and suggesting cool places for us to go. Medellin is a beautiful place filled with great people and history. I will be back!

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in! Way better than a chain. This one is so unique and wonderful! The food they serve is fantastic and I loved the free breakfast! If you like to dance, go to their Rooftop Brunch, its a party!

For the price and previous reviews of the hotel, we were disappointed with our overall experience. The room is beautiful and the daily free bar cart were perks. However, the lighting in the room was dark without any additional lights/lamps available, multiple plugs were broken, the flush didn't work (no one came to fix it after multiple requests) and the gym hours are very limited so we weren't able to experience it (closes at 4PM on weekends). Located in a great area with a ton of nightlife and the rooftop view is amazing. Very expensive, expect loud music playing throughout the night.

The hotel is ok. Major opportunity for better service. On one of the days, I had the sign on the door to clean the room. When I got back later that afternoon, it wasn’t cleaned. Then, the cleaner knocks on the door at 5pm to clean. 5pm?! They also only left one clean towel on multiple days so I had to go get more from the front desk. And they don’t restock anything from the minibar. It would be great if they’d restock at least the bottled water. So overall, it’s a nice location, but the service and operations could be improved.

Great location. In the touristy part of Medellin. Free Bar cart stops at your room daily. Free Happy hour with top shelf liquors. Food and drinks are very good at the restaurant. The gym is one of the best I’ve been to. The rooms have an earthy industrial feel. It felt a little dated but still was very clean and spacious with an amazing view. Armed security at the front. The pool area is not really set up ti go swimming. Dining tables are set up around and no lounge chairs. However Beautiful rooftop.

Excellent Hotel, very large suite style rooms. Located in nightlife area which is noisy but the rooms have 2 sets of windows on terrace then in room so the noise is not an issue. Would highly recommend, the team here are really brilliant. We came here from Miami where we were highly disappointed with quality of hotels restaurants and being brutally honest Medellin and this hotel really made Miami feel second rate. Thank you Charlee team for giving us such a great experience 👏

We stayed here for a week recently and had a great stay. It's located in the main area of Poblato and close to bars/ restaurants and the metro is a short walk away. The gym is a public gym so 99% of the people in the gym aren't guests of the hotel. The gym is nice but it was so crowded any time we went that we couldn't get a work out in. The hotel is surprisingly quiet for how close it is to the clubs. We had a sound machine on and never heard any outside noise. Breakfast was included every morning and had great options including eggs/ omelettes. The service was not great but the people were nice. We usually got our own coffee when we were seated since the first day we asked the waiter 3 different times for coffee and then he went to chat with his friends but never brought the coffee over. It's not the nicest hotel and we were disappointed that we visited some other hotels for dinner/ drinks that ended up being less expensive but lesson learned.

Amazing staff and experience. Highly recommend for a luxury stay in Meddelin. Only con I have is the prices for everything in the hotel, they are super expensive, more than America. However, still 5 stars and recommend you try the food and drinks!

The staff at The Charlee were exceptional! Karen, Mauricio, Luis, Edison and every other team member we met with went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The rooms are large and beds very comfortable. The building is gorgeous with thoughtful and creative touches. The neighborhood offered excellent food choices and variety, great rooftops for cocktails, live music and so much more. We felt safe throughout our stay and I highly recommend!

For anyone visiting, make sure you know that if you have any guests in your rooms like i did just for 10 min getting changed to go out, i was charged an extra (300,000) colombian pesos. Its in the fine print, which they didn't bother to point out at check-in. Area is beautiful, but with nightclubs all around, they dont close until 4 am, and the construct starts at 8 am in an adjacent building,Even on the 10th floor, i could not sleep.

This hotels markets itself as a 5 star hotel, however there is absolutely nothing 5 star about it. Its only saving grace is the fact that it is located in El Poblado and walking distance to restaurants and bars. The night front desk staff is unfriendly and seem bothered when they are interrupted. Luis, one of the night time front desk staff, needs a lesson or two in hospitality customer service. The rooms are not properly cleaned and the showers have a smell of mold. On our last night, we had no towels or toilet paper, the internet was not working, and forget about using the phone to call the front desk or housekeeping, phones either don’t work or they choose not to answer them. Very disappointed by this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. Also, family became very sick on the last night. I went downstairs to the front desk because they weren’t answering the phones, to ask them to call a doctor. They said they would and never did. After I posted this review we received a call to the room asking if we had spoken to the doctor. After telling him no, he insinuated that we were lying because he transferred the call and had the doctor been disconnected he would have called back and they had not received any calls. Only after confronting him and telling him he was calling us liars did he offer to call back the doctor or send someone to the pharmacy. Simply unacceptable. Called a doctor myself and got the issue taken care of. This hotel is a real disappointment. They have a lot of work to do if they want to even make it to a 3 star hotel.

This hotel has an amazing rooftop bar that will leave you breathless with its amazing views of Medellin. Pair that with the incredible food and drinks, and you have yourself one of the best experiences I’ve had in this amazing city.

NO HOT WATER HERE! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL. When we ask the front desk they are aware there is no hot water and say sometimes it can become available around 1pm. This is not true. We have stayed here for 4 days and have not had a hot shower yet. We are paying $210 US dollars per night for this misery. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Service is not reliable. We had a horrible experience with the taxi that the hotel was supposed to arrange for our early morning ride. When it did not show up, they put us in a very small cab that drove very slowly since it did not have the horsepower! Room service was unreliable as well. We had to repeatedly ask for amenities. The are is quite loud. We could not insulate the loud music that went on till 4 am.

My wife and I spent the final night of our honeymoon here. And honestly we were extremely happy with the hotel. The service was fantastic. George checked up on us pretty continuously leading up to our stay and once there he made sure to get us set up with a special desert to celebrate our honeymoon brought to our room while we were at dinner. We got there a little later so our check in was simple and easy. Also Poblado is quite a loud place area but we had a suite with the hot tub and when we closed the second set of doors separating the bed from the windows, We couldn’t hear anything which was great. Also, what hotel has a pillow list to make sure you’ve got whatever type of pillow you want. We will most certainly be staying here if/when we return to Medellin. Special shout out to George.

Iconic hotel in Poblado. Very fancy suites (incl jacuzzi) that are worth the try. General atmosphere a bit dark, and prices on the high side for poblado standards.

  • 2/5 Simon P. 2 years ago on Google
This is for the bar/restaurant, not the hotel. The cocktails were terrible. Virtually no alcohol at all. Every. Single. One. When we complained and asked for a splash more we were refused. The fried chicken was pretty decent but otherwise the food was mediocre at best. Some of us didn't even bother to finish. Needless to say, we got out of their after our 1 round was over. The only reason this review gets 2 stars is because it does have a great view of the city.

The hotel and location are great, but due to a mistake from their front desk, they made me change room with a downgrade. So they told me they would reimburse me the difference, but instead of doing so, they took an extra 100$ from my card... that really sucked that they are so unprofessional...

Giving them one star because they are enforcing the vaccination card we had it would not accept a picture and and ID. You have to have everything in hand ready. This is one of the only few places that is currently enforcing this. They wouldn't let us in, So a Big F You to the owners at the Charlie Hotel. Stand strong for freedom. We walk down the street and went to a very nice place with no problem, Abbiacca.... Very nice spot. Brand new. Very inviting, no issues.

The location is perfect if your hanging out in that area otherwise…the rooms are small and lousy, the bed is not very comfortable. The room service menu is better than the lobby restaurant. The staff are not friendly for the most part. Like many Colombians in Medellin they take foreigners for granted. Treat foreigners poorly but take their $. The Marriott is a better deal.

  • 2/5 Bobby Z. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms are nice, the breakfast is amazing and the gym is really fun. However, the nighttime crew at the front desk as well as the staff at the upstairs at the rooftop bar have huge attitude. The security is way too much. They take their jobs way too seriously and make it not fun to stay there. The last thing I want some kid who is less than half my age giving me attitude when they’re serving my drinks or when I’m trying to get back to my room with my guests. That’s why I give it a 2.

  • 4/5 Rob H. 1 year ago on Google
The Charlee is one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Poblado. I would rank it very close with Click Clack. Click Clack is more modern with a better lobby and overall atmosphere and a slightly better breakfast. The Charlee has bigger rooms, access to a gym and an excellent business center. The neighborhood around The Charlee is loud in the evenings but my room had sliding glass doors that separated the outside world and living area from the bed and provided further noise cancellation than the windows in the living area. I slept fine with no noise complaints. A few minor improvements needed to boost this place to 5 stars(like the shower not draining properly and flooding the whole bathroom) but overall an excellent option in Poblado.

  • 1/5 Daniel S. 2 years ago on Google
They wouldn’t let my friend who lives in Medellin into the hotel because he didn’t have his physical passport. He had his drivers license and a photo of the passport. The front desk lady Karen (ironic eh) refused to let us speak with the manager and was extremely rude. We paid 5 star prices for sub 1 trash service. They will never see a dollar from anyone I know again. And trust me word travels quickly when you treat your guests like garbage.

The best thing about this hotel is Jorge the bellman. He really helped me know where to go and accompanied me to the ATM and the exchange place down the block. It gave me some peace of mind. His recommendations made it easier for me to find where to go and enjoy my time on my 4 day trip. Thank you Jorge. As far as the hotel the location is great, there are some minor restrictions which may interfere with your fun. Rooftop is amazing and people are very nice.

I enjoyed the Charlee. The staff was outstanding, and the views and ambience we're unparalleled. It is a lifestyle hotel, not a quiet, laid-back place to get a good night's sleep with the family. It does what it does very well.

Best views in the city. This Review is only for the rooftop bar which is beautiful. I did not stay in the hotel but the staff was very welcoming. If you’re in Medellin, I highly recommend stopping here to grab a drink and take in the beautiful scenery.

Excellent hotel. Great service very helpful and friendly. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Relaxing sitting room. Room can be a bit noisy at night, but once you close the sliding doors between the bed and sitting area, its nice and quiet.

The robes are so comfyyyy. The views are insane. Showers are out of this world. Like best shower ever. Restaurant and bar are great and trendy. Super safe. Just a wonderful experience you won’t want to leave.
