This is my third year working at Smith Point and I've helped set up props for the anniversaries of the event. It's a sad place but very well made and taken care of.

The memorial humbled me. On the 17th of July 1996, TWA flight 800 exploded and crashed off Long Island, New York, killing all 230 people on board in what remains one of America’s deadliest air disasters.

Moving memorial to the tragedy of Flight 800 which exploded in mid air over the Atlantic Ocean shortly after taking off from JFK for France. Beautifully landscaped grounds overlooking Smith Point. Very quiet and perfect for reflecting on this tragedy.

Everytime I go back to Long Island I just have to go Smith Point County Park to see this memorial. I grew up at this beach and went here until I moved to Maui in 1992. I miss the long walkway out to the ocean when the beach was about two or three time the distance it is now from the boardwalk. Love this place and find peace walking through the memorial.

So many colleagues lost. It rained, the day we visited. Someone said, the heavens were sharing tears of joy at the sight of us there for them. Such a beautiful place to honor and remember of of the lives of those in Flight 800 ❀️.

I used to take flight 800 as a kid, this is a nice memorial, somewhat unexpected as you walk through the Fire Island seashore. It's pretty empty, leaving time for reflection. Many witnesses saw a streak of light going up, but the investigation concluded it was likely sparks in the center fuel tank which caused the explosion......

For who lived that period It's sad, but is really nice place where remember all the victims of the crash. And plus right there is a beautiful beach, and I really big playground for where the kids can I find all day, the only bad thing is the parking lot it's very expenses $18 a day

The TWA Flight 800 Memorial in Long Island offers a poignant and sobering tribute to the lives lost. It's a must-visit site for those seeking to pay their respects. The site itself is a beautiful dedication to their memory. Kudos to all the people who contributed for this thoughtful and inspiring way they have created this lasting monument. The surrounding area with the fabulous park emits peace and tranquility, ideal for relaxation. Must visit even on the coldest days, it's simply beautiful!

A nice memorial to honor those that died in the 1996 TWA Flight 800. It was cold and windy but I was still able to enjoy it. I remember when this incident occurred and know that all those in old we will never be forgotten.

Great beach after Memorial Day! Outer beach, camping, bar & food available, ice cream truck, etc. Also, great year-round to go for a walk or simply sit down and relax. Huge parking lot, and there’s a playground as well as tennis and basketball courts. There’s also a small-sized observatory-like building that’s great for watching the sunset/sunrise from. There are also some trails to walk on behind this building!

one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches of Long Island. They also have lifeguards, you can spend a nice day with your family and friends, have restrooms, a food and beverage store; and has a store to buy clothes suitable for the beach and souvenirs.
