Very nice tour. Lots to learn and the guides really know their stuff. Great grounds, a nice gift shop, and a cool walking tour of other FLW designs in the immediate neighborhood. Reservations required for tours. Hanna was a great host, she knew so much about the history of the grounds and house!

Frank Lloyd Wright is rightfully one of the Mid-Century Modernist movement's most famous architects. The  concept of building cool houses into natural landscapes. The serene Fallingwater home in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, however, is probably the most famous work he designed because it’s built over a natural waterfall on Bear Run. The technology has made impossible-seeming projects a reality. From a supremely modern cross-shaped residence carved into a giant boulder in the Saudi Arabian desert to a glass box built into the edge of a Canadian cliff, these special houses seem more like livable art. Here, AD takes a look at nine avant-garde homes that coexist with nature in a big way. Congratulations Frank!

It was a dream come true to see this in person. It has been meticulously restored and the tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about the contents and history of the home, as well as about FLW himself. There is a cute gift shop with some fun souvenirs. Don't miss out on the other FLW homes in the area, there are a ton more on the street!

Oh WOW - I knew I liked Frank Lloyd Wright's prairie-style modern architecture but being in his own home and seeing his studio is really incredible. I love how cozy everything is yet still filled with light. The hour-long tour is very friendly and interesting and it's just incredible to see inside his house and his mind. You don't enter on the Chicago street side, where his studio is - enter through the gift shop to the left side. Tours start there and go through his house first, then out through the studio. It's not to be missed!

The tour was interesting although I think we could have spent less time per area/room. The minute details and tidbits didn't interest me as much but maybe I'm in the minority of visitors. I actually enjoyed the self-directed outdoor tour (additional fee for audio equipment) more seeing the actual results of FLW's work.

Loved this place. Our tour guide was amazing. She told us all the stories behind the house and the as architect. We are also so glad we started with the Wright house before visiting the others. It was a great tour, very informative to we later appreciated all the ground knowledge we got here, as we were touring the other houses in Chicago. We also recommend that you take the walking tour of the houses in the neighborhood where you listen to their history and artistic choices with a speaker device.

This is an incredible place to be in person. I cannot say enough about the level of detail included in every single square inch of the house, designed by FLR, and have to give incredible credit to the Foundation for bringing it back to the level it is. The home and studio shows so well, and the staff may be the friendliest I've experienced at a small museum of this sort. The guided tour was great, and the walking tour was so much fun. Seeing these houses in person is something you have to do at some point. Crazy to think what he was doing back in 1900.

Amazing demonstration of FLW architecture in the local area and walking tour is very good; my girls 19 & 12 enjoyed it too! Member of staff was very helpful and knowledgeable; only complaint is that you have to tour to look at the studio and that the walking tour is expensive! $15 per person!!! Great attraction though and the shop is excellent and we all bought a souvenir.

Glad I did the tour, which is very informative. This man is so intelligent, his works must come from the future. He probably traveled back in time. Didn't know how much Asian culture had influenced him and how much he cared about nature, until today.

We visited the house with a guided tour. Our guide she was amazing, fun and interesting. The tour lasted about an hour, we walked through the house and his studio. I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it is such an amazing experience.

Awesome place! The only way to enter is by taking the tour but it's worth it. The guides are really good and know a lot about Wright's life and work. The walking tour is also good, you can take a small walk around the place and get to see more Frank Llyod Wright's houses.

Our tour guide Molly was informative, laid back, and answered dozens of questions from our group. I didn't know much about FLW before this visit, and came away feeling quite educated about the man and his work. Highly recommend. We also did the walking tour after the house/studio tour.

Tour was very educational. I learned more about architecture than I thought I wanted to know. Very interesting facts and stories. The house itself is beautiful and learning the history of the area was fascinating.

Wife and I loved the tour. If you pay a bit more you get to be in a smaller group and then you are able to go up to this overwatch part of the home. The neighborhood walking tour was like a loop that was about 3/4 of a mile. The tour guide was polite and knowledgeable

This is a very cool FLW site to see - you really get to see his ideas in their infancy and if you are familiar with his work it really brings it all together. The studio is such a bonus to get a feel for how he actually worked on things as well. The guides are great as well, and the waking tour is a fun bonus to help you see the neighborhood.

Very nice guided tour through the main house. The audio tour of the surrounding neighborhood and houses is very well done and provides more insight into his works.

Beautiful and well restored home and office of this famous architect. Took the hour tour, informative and entertaining, but had several questions the guide wasn’t able to answer.

I planned to arrive at night to see how the house looks. It was not a disappointment. Everyone comes during the day. Carpe noctem! I just walked around. The house/museum of course was not open.

Certainly worth the trip whenever you’re in the Chicago area. Impossible not to appreciate the beauty and influence of Frank Lloyd Wright’s own home and studio on the design world. Make sure this is part of your itinerary next time you’re near Lake Michigan! Highly recommend. Helpful staff also.

Cool self-paced walking tour of the neighborhood featured several of the homes FLW built. The guided tour of his personal residence and studio was informational and very interesting. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.

A worthwhile indoor tour to appreciate one of the most influential architects and understand his inspiration. We did the audio walking tour directly after doing the indoor home and studio tour and one flowed well into the other.

We totally enjoyed this tour. The docent was excellent. Knowledgeable taking a generous amount of time for questions. It was nice that the building contained furnishings to clearly define the property. I would recommend this tour if you have an opportunity or desire to learn more or be introduced to Frank Lloyd Wright.

For lovers of architecture, this is a truly unique and amazing walking tour. Plenty of options to choose from. Mark was a fantastic tour guide on our 3.5 hour tour of the home, studio, and Oak Park residences.

We took the one hour FLW home and studio tour and it was pretty good! Consider buying the annual membership if you plan on visiting all of Wright’s works in the area, especially with a plus one or family. The tour is thorough, and well organized for social distancing in these COVID-19 times. Great information. Very well maintained premises. Amicable staff and guide. Plenty street parking (on weekdays) available in the vicinity. Gift shop is fairly good too.

An excellent tour for Architects and those interested in learning about history. This tour will guide about Frank Lloyd’s architecture style and it’s implementation. There are 2-3 tours happening simultaneously in the house. One star less because first you are encouraged to go and see the small details in the room and see the space. Later when if a room is small u r scolded for being in other room. If the tour timings are well managed and properly instructed where to visit and where not there will not be any confusion. Disappointed on the part of management but a must do for interested people.

We were able to get a weekday reservation pretty easily. Weekend was pretty booked. Our tour guide was wonderful and informative. The house was restored to it's original splendor after being turned into apartments...yikes! There are several other FLW designed homes on the same street...an easy walk from his corner home. There is a cute gift shop with lovely souvenirs.

A great, interesting tour in Oak Park, IL. The docents are very knowledgeable, the home is very well maintained, and the surrounding grounds and additional FLW homes in the area made for a fun day.

Such an awesome visit! Highly recommend for any architecture lover! I did the interior tour on a rainy day so we didn't spend much time talking the exterior, but great tour nonetheless. Suggest booking tickets ahead of time.

Joan our docent was fantastic. With lots of great details about FLW his studio and home. My wife and I highly recommend the home and studio tour and the walking tour.

Visiting one of his homes has been a dream of mine so this was thrilling. This was only one house but I hope it is the first of many that I get to see. The Guide was very knowledgeable.

The trek out to Oak Park is a long one, but for the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, it’s worth it! The volunteer tour guides are very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour is very interesting and shows you around the house and studio where Frank Lloyd Wright made a third of his buildings.

If your a fan of his work or want to know more, this is a great place to start. This was the beginning of the FLW home tour they put on this year. I'm so glad i visited. You're able to see his style progression in his early work here and the other houses in the neighborhood. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the tour flowed well through the house. I'll definitely come back.
