This place reminds me of down home country cooking. The portions are huge and the service is spectacular. I had the pork tenderloin with the potato skins and a salad. The sandwich was huge and enough for two meals. It was delicious. Anyone looking to go to this Kansas City staple should definitely go. They could revamp their sides and focus in food quality over quanity. Oh and the fried chicken. Is what they are known for.

I love this place. I have been to RC's several times and have never been disappointed. The chicken is always great, a large portion of mashed potatoes, and green beans means you usually have leftovers for later. They make a pretty nice Moscow Mule also.

This place has some incredible fried chicken!! They serve the sides well so make sure you save room for Cobbler and Ice Cream!!

Terrible food the chicken is dry and the place is drab and dingy and has musky smell. The employees are arbitrarily harassing passersbys on the sidewalk and not tending to guests had to wait 40 min for fries so the manager could go across the street and yell at some some homeless guy to not walk on his sidewalk. Absolutely deplorable never going there again told to get a job bum and refused to him a job. If I could rate 0 stars I would some should human society on them

We had high hopes and I had been craving chicken fried steak. We ordered that and fish and chips to try both. I'm not a fried chicken person so I use these two to judge a place that fries things. Both were super greasy and there was no crispy to the steak. Not anything we would go back for. The mashed potatoes, gravy and biscuits did hit the spot.

Delicious specials. The 3 Piece Chicken Lunch was a huge and tasty meal. Onion rings are the best I’ve ever had!

dined at rc's today for lunch, eh it was ok. I've heard so many great things about this place. Not a bad review from what I've "heard". Never read any reviews up until today. People seemed to enjoy the food. Menu is very large, it was a hard decide what to get. Ended up ordering the hot beef plate. Mom definitely makes a better hot beef plate. The hot beef plate I had today was 2 out of 5 stars. Potatoes were I believe instant. Gravy, I'm pretty sure was not made from scratch. Beef, eh nothing to write home about. It was tender, little flavor, lots of fat. I shared the plate with my 1 year old son, he likes bland food. Didn't eat the two pieces of bread because they looked gross due to they were pre dunked in gravy. Service was great!! I'll get the fried chicken dinner next time.

Came here to listen to the Fourensics play. The restaurant has great chicken and I highly recommend the livers and gizzard with the Gravy that comes with. Shannon was a great waitress as well. We will be back! Update! Came back. Best catfish I have ever had in my life. Always fresh food and a great experience. Cottage fries are wonderful. And we love Shannon!

Think strouds style food but worse the sides were the best part the chicken was under cooked and better when it was cold the n xt day

This is a place my hubby knew when he worked in KC but it's changed management. It was a little dark and took over 40 minutes to get our food. The sweet potato fries were delish with the marshmallow and cinnamon dip. The food was good tho. 👍 Hostess and waitress were both friendly and very nice.

Our high-school has an event there every year. The bar and wait staff are outstanding. We had a fantastic time and so grateful they allow us to have our party there year after year.

I had dinner here once. It was phenomenal. Fast forward 8 months, I’m thinking of a place to have a rehearsal dinner as I’m getting married and heard RC’s had an event space. I called to inquire and have been told 3 times that “Sam” will call us back. “Sam is gone but will be back in an hour and it’s the first thing on her list.”It’s been a week and “Sam” hasn’t called. Great food, however, the service isn’t there.

This was a fun dinner the staff were nice and helpful. The chicken was incredible it was prepared fresh and was perfectly crispy. Hot and juicy not dried out and bland. Had mashed potatoes and green beans and they tasted just like they were homemade. Yum yum looking forward to another visit. I highly recommend this establishment.

The salad was good. The chicken was very good. The service could've been much better. I don't know, maybe I caught them on an off night. It was a school night. Did not use the rest room, so can't review that. Seemed like there was adequate parking. This place serves Coke products. The sides are served family style. There was more food than I could eat and the prices were quite reasonable. The ambulance wasn't bad. One of the best parts about it was that it was not loud in there. So many restaurants are just loud inside and this one was much easier on the ears.

We went to a private event for our school on Black Friday and had a good time. Good waitress, and food from downstairs. Venue is currently the new Thai restaurant normally but thanks for accommodating GHS. Lady with us had gizzards, looked good. But billed 11 bucks for a mixed drink. Separate upcharge for the vodka, seemed weird and not expected.

Good fast service came right in told us to sit anywhere. Server/Bartender lady was the best while we were there took our orders got them right out to us under 15mins. Great fast service great atmosphere id recommend to anyone and definitely will go back again.

The food has definitely gone downhill over time, the waitress seem to be very inconvenient by the fact that she had to wait on us, and then asked me if I wanted to tip her when we ordered a third round of drinks and I did not put a tip in as I had previously tipped her $10 on each round I thought that was kind of inappropriate. But what really solidified that we won't be going back was when I had to walk up to the bar to pick up the drinks that she never delivered to me because I did not write a tip in for that round I'm assuming.

My pop trio was on the road in September and October of 2021. One of my friends who is a kind of fried chicken aficionado told me we had to go to this place. We drove many miles out of our way. The whole time my bandmates were whining and complaining about how long it took to get there. Let me tell you if it's just about the food you'll never regret making a trip to RC's, even if it's a little bit out of your way. The mashed potatoes and green beans were some of the best I've ever had in my entire life and I'm a southern boy from Virginia who knows a thing or two about green beans and mashed potatoes. Fried Chicken was out of this world. Portions were incredibly generous.

Good food and large portions. They were able to accommodate 15 people with no issues. We like to celebrate family birthdays here. Biscuits, extra gravy and green beans are served family style

Chicken very good. Server nice and attentive. Green beans way to salty for my taste. Plate was swimming in butter from the baked potato, so no where to put roll or green beans. Need bigger plates.

The server seemed irritated when we came in and the food was bland. We had guests in from out of town and they were not impressed by the lack of seasoning in the fried chicken, fried catfish, gravy etc. All were cooked properly, just terribly blah. The best part of the meal was the freshly baked biscuits with honey. The biscuits alone almost made up for everything else being so... underflavored.

My Fiancé took me, I had a Caesar Salad and he had Some big Chicken Dinner. Both were great and our waitress was Very Kind and On Top of Everything. I used to be a waitress at the Back Door years ago so it was nice to see the place again.

I had always thought this other restaurant in the KC area had the best pan fried chicken, well let me tell you, I was wrong, Rc's is the best and there sides are excellent also. I was so wanting to try one of their cobblers but they gave you so much food I didn't have room for dessert. I can't wait to go back and try out their gizzards.

Love their fried chicken paired with a huge baked potato. Nice to have the option of sitting at the bar if you are dining solo. Fast service in old school, laid back atmosphere. Makes me feel like I'm back in upstate New York in a family-owned establishment.

I travel 40 weekends a year. I eat out a lot. I very rarely leave a bad review. We walked in. Waited to be seated. A waitress tells us to sit wherever we want. Just the two of us so I was going to sit at a two or four top. They were all dirty so we sat at a six top. Mind you this is a pretty large dining room. I wanted fried chicken. I ordered a meal for two with a mix of white and dark meat. The dark meat was dripping with grease and the white meat was dry and tough. The skin was dry and tough on the white meat. The skin on the dark greasy. Service was ok. Our main waitress very impatient. I have had better fried chicken at gas stations. Avoid this restaurant.
