Mouthwatering food that was made with care as you could taste that it was freshly made. The owner Diljeet explained us the foods that we had questions about and was extremely warm and friendly. The place is beautifully decorated and a hidden gem. You can also call them upfront and tell them you are visiting so they are prepared. It is a tad bit hard to find but ask around as it is definitely worth it.

This cozy cafe has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again. IT WAS FIRE!! We were so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes walk away from our stay. We made several visits this cafe during our visit to Varanasi. Poha and Masakali halwa are their signature dishes. But, I think every dish is their signature dish. It was a pleasant surprise to know that every dish was made with so much love and care. My cousins made a request to have Sabudana khichadi a day prior and the chef presented it utmost consideration and perfection. I got satthu parathas packed in bulk while coming back.😋 A special thanks to Diljeet and team and my best wishes to them. Hara hara Mahadeva 🌺

"This is the best Indian food i've had!" is literally what i have been saying for five days in a row, cozily sitting on the beautiful rooftop. Diljeet's café is the most welcoming, warm-hearted and overwhelmingly delicious place we have found in Varanasi. We were sure that Diljeet used magic for preparing the meals, since they taste flawlessly, even the portions are just the perfect size. But then she convinced us that it's just her hands' work, when we took an Indian cuisine class with her. It was so much fun, we can only warmly recommend it to everybody!! After enjoying the incredible food we always chilled on the comfortable pillows, and in her free time Diljeet herself came upstairs to share a nice talk, being part of the vibe. And the whole team is just wonderful, everybody is so friendly and corteous, wanting to give you the best experience at their place. We already miss you, dear Diljeet and "Dr. Rana" - looking forward to seeing you again! Sab ke liye bahut dhanyavaad! ❤️

This was literally the BEST INDIAN FOOD I’ve ever had in my life. We arrived in Varanasi and headed straight here after friend recommendation. We got the following for 2 ppl 1. Lemon rice 2. Palaak daal 3. Butter chicken 4. Poha 5. Masakali halwa 6. Roti 7. Paratha Everything was made so fresh and from scratch. The service was amazing and we had a really nice chat with the owner and people who work here.

Our experience at Diljeet Cafe was so enjoyable that we were pondering over new menu selections and future visits before the night was done! The food was freshly prepared and second to none from our one month in India. If this wasn’t enough, our great conversations with the owners left us feeling like friends not just customers! It was a very genuine and memorable experience that highlighted a great stay in Varanasi! I can’t recommend our experience enough and look forward to the possibility of reconnecting in the future!

True Hindustani Cafe The vibes are very cool and easy. The floor seating even makes it more authentic. The wall art is exquisite. And ekdum mast khana. My personal favorite was the daal or lentil soup. Thick, soul filling, and cooked at its finest. Rotis well done. Paneer tikka and Mix veg were filling and tasty and not over the top at all. Onion pakodas were crispy and fun. Paneer parantha was just love, I am a big paneer fan and this was the best so far. Sattu parantha was excellent. Not at all dry, the filling was well kneaded, and acchar along with it just bursted all the flavours. Poha was also one of the top dishes. We ended it with a refreshing and authentic Kashmiri Kahwa and Mint Lemonade. Surely visiting here again.

This was my favorite place in my month in Varanasi, a beautiful space, decorated and taken care of to the smallest detail, the staff super kind, helpful and friendly, I felt always welcomed as if by family and the food! Wow! Everything, whatever I had was ALWAYS beyond my expectations, made in the moment and always tasty! I totally recommend this place! I am looking forward to being back again!

Highlight of my food experiences in Varanasi. Stumbled upon this beautifully decorated restaurant/cafe in Assi ghat. The walls are covered in Madhupani paintings reflecting the culture of the lovely and welcoming female entrepreneur (Diljeet) who runs the cafe. We were welcomed warmly by Diljeet and the staff. Food was prepared to our spice tolerance level. I ordered a Bihari thali which was as tasty as it was beautiful. I’ve never tried authentic Bihari food but I can’t imagine it gets any better than this. There were three types of veg preparation (most involving potatoes and aubergines), a Dahl, sattu puris, raita, salad, dessert and a sattu drink. If you ask Diljeet, you’ll get a good explanation of everything on the menu. My partner ordered curd rice which was just what he needed for a case of Delhi belly. While the food can take some time to prepare, be assured that it is totally worth it! I wish I was staying longer and had a chance to try more dishes. Highly highly recommend!

I love this place! Best food I had in Varanasi, or even in all my journey in India. Vibe is also very nice, we went for lunch and it was very relaxing with two lovely dogs around. Just beware that the staff is in the rooftop, so don’t stop at the first floor. Very much recommended!

The food was the best we've had in India ! So so so tasty. The perfect balance between the aromas, the spices, the texture. The place is really cute too. To find it, take the narrow street at the yellow sign and it will be on the left side. Congratulations Diljeet !!!

Very happy to discover this place, every dish is yummy and fresh, we’ve been coming back everyday of our stay in Varanasi. Food takes time to prepare, but atmosphere of the place is very warming and comfy which make it easy to wait, especially if you are coming with friends. Order some soda with lime (try it with salt), everything with paneer is yum, aloo too. Thank you for this beautiful place.

Found the cafe on Google during my visit to Varanasi. The place is very close to Assi Ghat and the moment we entered the cafe we liked it instantly especially because of the sitting arrangement which is super cozy and comfortable and gives you the feeling of home. The staff is polite . The view from the window of the cafe is lively especially in the evening or night. I liked the handwritten menu card 😊 yes the food taste can be improved and adding a few non vegetarian items to the menu would be an added advantage. Also if a corner can be arranged for hand wash or a small basin in the toilet itself could be very helpful. Overall a great place to chill out. 👍

The best food, cosy and quiet atmosphere near crowded Assi ghat. We recommend this place for everybody who need a little getaway from noisy city! Diljeet poha was really amazing.

Our favourite place in Varanasi! It became our second home. We love the vibe, the team and the excellent food. Fresh, high quality ingredients, made with love always. Diljeet is a wonderful cook who also offers cooking classes. The space Diljeet, Bhupendra, Sharod and Ram have created is warm, welcoming and cozy. Whenever they have some free time, they'll sit and chat with you, really makes you feel like part of the family. They also have some cards and board games available to play and pass the time.
