Shri Samrajeswar Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir, also known as the Nepali Mandir (Hindi: नेपाली मंदिर), Kanthwala Mandir and Mini Khajuraho (Kanthwala in Hindi means wooden), is one of the oldest and most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. This temple has great religious importance in Hinduism and is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Constructed in the 19th century A.D by the King of Nepal, the temple is made of terracotta, stone and wood and is replica of the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. Overall amazing place amazing architecture.

This temple has a great view & thanks to the trees in the premises, it's an excellent place to hang out during a hot & sunny afternoon. And the temple remains closed in the afternoon, so you can't visit the deity inside, but can sit outside in the premises.

The Nepali Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. The architecture of the building stands in contrast to the buildings and other temples nearby and in Varanasi. The building is distinctly Nepalese/Oriental in style, more so in the basic Pagoda look. Inside, there’s a single room sanctum. There are upper levels, but it didn’t look like it was possible to climb up. The building also stands out for the terracotta building material which again gives it distinctive colouration. The temple is located close to Lalita Ghat, which is another popular site in Varanasi, so it’s worth combining a visit to both. Plus one for it’s distinctive look.

It is a beautiful wooden temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It resembles the Pashupatinath Temple of Nepal in its infrastructure. It is located on the top floor just beside the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple from the side of Gate no. 1, on the Lalita Ghat. It has the spectacular view of the Ganga. One can sit on the wooden bench in the premises of the temple and enjoy looking at the Ganga among the strong winds that flows from the Ganga. It is a true example of scenic beauty

So we were told this was the Kama Sutra temple so be warned if you take small children. It's not horribly noticeable except in the woodwork in the cages. The temple is beautiful with so many intricate details. It has the urn that drips water from the Ganges river all day. There is a fee of 50INR for foreigners only

A small and beautiful temple. The temple is quiet place and very peaceful, away from all the rush. I visited this place in the afternoon, and spent around an hour sitting under the sun in the cold weather. Not many people come here at this time. Took a walk from Dashashwamedh Ghat to this place along the Ganga. I highly recommend all of you to visit this place when you come to Varanasi. Har Har Mahadev!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My one of the favorite places in Varanasi, the best ghat view from here and dharauhara, very beautiful and peaceful. Also the architecture of this temple is mesmerising, all wooden architecture in Nepali style you can feel like darbar square of Kathmandu ☺️

Very beautiful temple. You can enter it from inside of vishwanath corridor. There's a sitting space on ghat just below the temple, accessed via stairs and it's the most peaceful place to be.

Constructed in the 19th century A.D by the King of Nepal, the temple is made of terracotta, stone and wood and is replica of the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. The King of Nepal, Rana Bahadur Shah took exile in Varanasi from 1800 to 1804 and titled himself as "Swami Nirgunanda". During his exile, he decided to build a replica of Pashupatinath Temple in Varanasi. Construction of the temple commenced during his exile / stay in Varanasi. During the construction, Shah moved back to Nepal. On 25 April 1806, Rana Bahadur Shah was stabbed to death by his stepbrother, Sher Bahadur Shah. His son Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah Deva completed the project 20 years after the deadline. The land was later transferred to Rana Bahadur Shah by Kashi Naresh in the year 1843. The temple, adjacent area, Lalita Ghat and a dharamshala, belongs to the Nepal government

Incredible and criminally underrated. This is one of the most beautiful mandirs in Kashi. You can see it from the ghat, very near the Dashashvamedh and just above Lalita Ghat. It is a very peaceful environment and the wood carvings of the temple structure is absolutely magnificient. Definitely worth a visit.

The Nepali Temple in Varanasi, also known as the Kathwala Temple, is a beautiful example of Nepalese architecture nestled in the holy city of Varanasi. Constructed by the King of Nepal in the 19th century, this temple stands out for its intricate wooden and stone carvings. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it's a serene spot where devotees and tourists can experience Nepali craftsmanship and religious fervor amidst the spiritual ambiance of Varanasi. 🕉️✨

The only temple in Varanasi where you will get Tibetan and Nepali vibes around it The temple is very beautiful and the architecture inside is very minute and brilliantly sculpted. It is situated near Lalita ghat and one must visit here during their trip.

Ooooh! This is an absolutely wonderful place. Silence, peace, beauty. The wood carving that decorates the temple is impressive. On each side of the temple they are unique. It's like a soul song.

It is a small but very beautiful temple. It is built in pagoda style. It was built by King of Nepal, hence this name. It is quite close to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and is accessible from the corridor itself. It is a very peaceful place. It offers good view of Ganga and ghats. One can easily spend good time here absorbing it all. For foreigners, there is an entry fee of Rs.20.

Just right next to Kashi Vishwanath temple. People call it Nepali Temple which was made in the 18th century. You must visit the back side of the temple to see some amazing jaw dropping wood craftsmanship

Small but beautiful Nepali temple situated just off the river Ganges. It is made from wood and there are erotic sculptures carved all around the top areas which are amazing. We came here on a walking tour to learn more about it. Entrance is 20 rupees per person.

An old temple of Pashupatinath at Varanasi. It is located near the Lalita Ghat of Ganga river. The wooden works of the walls of the temple is excellent. The fine work is the perfect example of the rich art work.

Very old and wooden temple built by some Nepali King. The temple is a replica of the Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu. Its very calm & peaceful out there at the temple courtyard. There is a Peepal tree over there. You can sit there on the wooden benches beneath the peepal tree and enjoy the cool breezes. Its very soothing. You could have a great view of the entire ghats from the top.
