Nice place at Ganga ghat Varanasi, many time I visited this place for evening view of Ganga ghat and also in day time for Ghat mini cricket 🏏. You Yan enjoy a beautiful look of ghats with your friends or family. Really a peaceful place of all the time in Kashi, Shivala ghat located just side at Maharaja Chet Singh Fort or palace. Ferry line starts from here near Shivala ghat area, For this you can see in the map. Ferry pass here like they are in race as you can see in photos which one I uploaded of evening view.

Shivala ghat is one of the largest ghats in Varanasi, India. It was built by King Balwant Singh in honour of Hindu god Shiva. A 19th century palace constructed by Nepalese king Sanjay Vikram Shah lies near the ghat. Shivala ghat is inhabited by south Indian Hindus. The building along the ghat and palaces of Chet Singh were confiscated after the British suppressed the rebellion in which King of Varanasi also took part.

As someone who has travelled extensively in Asia, nothing prepares you for what is on offer here. I’m not really talking about the cremation rituals, that’s a piece of cake to take in. It’s really the busy-ness and urgency of Varanasi that is to behold. It’s such a stimulating avenue of spirituality and meaninglessness. If you want that clashing of forces that India is known for, this is where you want to be. I recommend a boat ride, or hire a guide to walk around with you if you’re lonely or need a hug. I don’t know, maybe take the man out for a lassi. He’s earned it.

The ghat also offers stunning views of the river Ganges, especially during sunrise and sunset. Many people gather here to witness these mesmerizing moments and experience the spiritual aura of the place. Overall, Shivala Ghat is a significant religious site in Varanasi, attracting both locals and tourists alike. Its historical importance, religious significance, and scenic beauty make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the spiritual side of India. Jay Hind Jay Bharat 🙏🏻🚩🇮🇳

Shivala means ‘abode of Shiva’, there’s a Shiva temple overlooking the ghat. Te ghat is dominated by a colossal building constructed by the Nepali King Sanjay Vikram Shah. This area is populated by a large south Indian community that came to Banaras over the last two centuries for business and religious purposes.

The River Ganga, also known as the Ganges, is one of the most sacred rivers in India. It originates in the Himalayas and flows through northern India and Bangladesh, covering a distance of about 2,525 km. The river is considered holy by Hindus, who believe that taking a dip in its waters can wash away sins and bring salvation. The Ganga is also of immense ecological and economic significance, as it supports millions of people who depend on it for their livelihoods. In this essay, we will explore the significance of the River Ganga in various aspects of life, including religion, culture, economy, and ecology. Geography and Hydrology The Ganga originates from the Gangotri glacier in the Himalayas, located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. From there, it flows through the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal before emptying into the Bay of Bengal. The river basin covers an area of about 1,080,000 km², which is home to over 400 million people.

Shivala Ghat, an important and large ghat in Varanasi, whose name is associated with the presiding deity of Varanasi Lord Siva, was built by king Balwant Singh. Presently largely occupied by south Indians who migrated to Varanasi over a period of time. From a tourist point of view, this ghat is less frequented . Among the three major attractions of Shivala Ghat are a Shiva Temple, the Brahmendra Math, a spiritual centre built by the king of Varanasi and a huge mansion built in the 19th century by the then king of Nepal, Sanjay Vikram Shah. Suryauday Haveli, an ancient mansion now converted into a luxury heritage hotel, is located here on the banks of River Ganga at Shivala Ghat. This hotel is maintaining the ghat and keeping it very clean.

The alleyways that lead to Shivala Ghat are worth a wander, as are the views from here, the boats and bathers and families. I stayed at the Yurauday Haveli just above - I loved how it was far from the density and intensity of main Ghats and markets of the old city. The ghat is kept very neat and clean ... As there are many steps, it would be difficult for handicapped and aged people to go to the river. Arrangement needs to be done for the handicapped and aged people. Also, the river cleanliness has to improve still. Shivala Ghat, an important and large ghat in Varanasi, is historically significant but from touristic point of view- a less frequented one.
