This is an advice from my side after just returning from Varanasi, that whichever place you visit in the city but the first place that you should visit after just stepping in the city is Lord Kaal Bhairav Temple. He is known as the dwarpal or the main security officer of the city and without paying him a visit that too in the first place after entering the city is not considered good by the people here and also taken as a sign of disrespect . Hence kindly visit lord Kaal Bhariav temple at the very first place and then go for any other place you want.

Bhairav baba is said to be the protector of the town. Its beleived that any one visiting Kashi should take his darshan before visiting any other temples. Temple is nice you can offer flowers and garlands o the diety.Beware of scammers around. You will have to walk 150-200 mtr inside from the main road.

No amenities for devotees like public toilets. Small lanes of Varanasi can be experienced here. Half hour is the maximum time for darshan how many ever devotees may be there. Before going to Baba Vishwanath's darshan it is a belief to visit Kaalbhairava first.

It is said that Kashi Vishwanath visit isn't complete without visiting Kaal Bhairav temple. It's located around 2 km away from the main temple and it's recommended to visit early as it may get crowded after 8 am as it's a popular temple. We did a tour of all the important temples including this one at around 5-6 and found the temples very much empty so very convenient to visit.

The temple of Baba Shri Kalbhairav Ji is located in Golghar of Chowk area Kotwali in Kashi, and all darshan/worship is considered incomplete without having darshan of "Baba Shri Kalbhairav" Ji. Baba Kalbhairav is called the Kotwal of Kashi. Due to its religious importance, there is always a crowd here, especially on Sundays and Tuesdays. You may face difficulties while passing through narrow streets. It is believed that nothing happens in this city without his consent, and the care of the entire city is in his hands. It is also mentioned in Mahabharata and Upanishads

Kaal Bhairav Mandir is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Varanasi, India. Situated in Bharonath, Vishweshwarganj (Varanasi), this temple has great historical and cultural importance in Hinduism; especially amongst the locals. The temple is dedicated to Bhairava (Kaal Bhairav), a fierce form of Shiva and wears a garland of skulls and carries a club of peacock feathers. The word "Kaal" means both "death" and "time". Kaal Bhairav also means the one who removes the fear of both death and time. It is believed that even death is afraid of Kaal Bhairav. Housed in the inner sanctum of the temple is a silver faced idol of Kal Bhairav who is seated on his vahana (vehicle), a dog and is holding a trident. Only the face of the icon decorated (with garlands) is visible to the visitors through the doorway. Rest of the icon is covered with a piece of cloth. On the rear door of the temple, there is an icon of Kshetrapal Bhairav, another aspect of Bhairava Once, the gods Brahma and Vishnu were competing for supremacy. Then Shiva appeared as a powerful divine light between the duo. An angry Brahma stared at the pillar of light with his 5th head, which started to burn out of anger. Shiva has instantly created the new being Bhairava or Kaal Bhairav (destroying the fear of 'Kaal’ : "Kaal Bhairav"), who decapitated Brahma's 5th head. However, the head stuck to Kaal Bhairav's hand. Shiva then ordered Kaal Bhairav to go to various places but Brāhmanahatya, the sin of beheading Brahma personified as a gory woman, followed him until he reached Varanasi where Brahma's head fell on the ground. The place is called "Kapal Mochan Teerth". He was freed of the sin of Brāhmanahatya as he entered Varanasi. Shiva then pronounced that "Kaal Bhairav" will forever be in Varanasi in order to remove sins of his disciples.

Visited this temple after 9PM so it was very easy to get the darshan as it was not at all crowded. As per the history of the temple, Baba Kaal Bhairav is the Kotwal (Chief Police Officer) of all the creation and city of Kashi (Varanasi). This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest temple of Lord Shiva. The temple is located in a narrow by lanes and bit away from the main temple, Kadhi Vishwanath if you go by foot. Better to visit it late night or early morning to avoid long queues and have a better darshan experience of Kaal Bhairav.

At a distance of 1 km from Kashi Vishwanath Mandir and 5 km from Varanasi Junction, Kaal Bhairav Temple is a Hindu Temple situated at Vishweshwarganj area of Varanasi. It is one of the oldest temples in Varanasi and also one of the best Places to visit in Banaras. Dedicated to Lord Bhairav Naath, the temple has great historical and cultural importance in Hinduism; especially amongst the locals. Bhairav is considered to as the fearsome manifestation of Lord Shiva who wears a garland of skulls and carries a club of peacock feathers. Lord Kaal Bhairav is believed to be the guardian deity of Varanasi and everyone who wants to live in Varanasi need to take his permission. He is also believed to be the Kotwal of 'Sati pind', without his permission no one can touch the 'Sati pind'. According to legend, Lord Bhairav was born from the Third eye of Lord Shiva and he is the symbol of Anger. He cut one of the heads of Brahma himself when ordered by Lord Shiva. Cutting off Brahma's fifth head made him guilty, so Lord Shiva advised him to go to Kashi where he will get rid of the sins and also told him to stay there and take care of his devotees. When depicted as Kaal Bhairav, Bhairav is shown carrying the decapitated head of Brahma. The sanctum of Kaal Bhairav Temple houses a silver faced idol of Kaal Bhairav who is seated on a dog and is holding a trident. Only the face of the idol is visible to the visitors through the doorway. Rest of the idol is covered with a piece of cloth. Timings: 5 AM to 1.30 PM & 4.30 PM to 9.30 PM

Peace settled in my mind. While having a look at the statue of Baba Kaal Bhairav. Not felt too crowded here. Narrow lanes and people were enjoying their time while having temple affairs. An ancient type temple which is being structured here. Really had a quick and memorable time.

Kaal Bhairav Mandir is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Varanasi. If you have arrived in varanasi then you should first go and visit Shree Kaal Bhairav Temple. After that only you can visit the Kashi Viswanath main temple. Why means with the permission of kaal bhairava only you can enter into varanasi. So you must visit this temple and say thanks and offer a prayer here first. I am not saying this by any purpose it is a ritual here.

The temple is one of the oldest. I am very blessed to get the blessings from here. Lots of local shops and kiosks available selling things that you can offer to God. You can carry your mobile but no photography is allowed. Bags and shoes are for outside deposits. Inside there will be many people who will ask money to do some rituals for you. Everything is your own belief. Better buy things from outside go inside of your own. Pray and do the offerings and come out. It is always advisable to visit here in the mornings to avoid traffic issues and road closures.

The Shree Kal Bhairav Temple in Banaras is truly a remarkable place. Being one of the oldest temples in Varanasi, I felt incredibly blessed to receive the divine blessings from here. As I explored the temple premises, I discovered numerous local shops and kiosks offering items that could be offered to God. It was a delightful experience to witness the devotion of the people and the vibrant atmosphere surrounding the temple. While visiting the temple, do keep in mind that photography is not allowed, and you will need to deposit your bags and shoes outside. Inside the temple, you may encounter individuals requesting money to perform rituals on your behalf, but it is entirely up to your personal beliefs whether or not to engage in such practices. I found it more meaningful to purchase items from the shops outside and enter the temple on my own terms. Once inside, I immersed myself in prayer and made my offerings, which brought a sense of peace to my mind. Despite the temple's age and popularity, it did not feel excessively crowded. The narrow lanes leading to the temple were filled with people who were enjoying their time and engaging in various temple affairs. The ancient architecture of the temple added to its charm and made my visit all the more memorable. Kaal Bhairav Mandir is known as one of the oldest Shiva temples in Varanasi. It holds significant historical and cultural importance in Hinduism, particularly among the locals. The temple is dedicated to the fierce form of Lord Shiva known as Kaal Bhairav. The deity is depicted wearing garlands made of human skulls, and it is believed that even death fears this form of Lord Shiva. According to folklore, Kaal Bhairav decides who can stay in Varanasi and who cannot. It is customary for the people of Varanasi to seek permission from the deity before leaving the city. If you plan to visit the temple, I highly recommend going in the morning to avoid any traffic issues or road closures. I can say that my experience at the Shree Kal Bhairav Temple was truly awe-inspiring. Its historical significance, coupled with the tranquil atmosphere, made it a place where one can find solace and connect with spirituality.

Without visiting kaal bhairav temple your varanasi trip is incomplete. It's of huge religious significance in Hinduism religion. Lord Shiva's avatar is kaal bhairav and he is the kotwal of Varanasi. Lord Brahma 5th head was damaged by the light produced by presence of Shiva, that light was at 12 places known as jyotirlinga like Kashi Vishwanath, Baba baidyanath, omkareshwar, mahabaleshwar, somnath, rameshwaram, and so on. Visit the temple as early as possible. Way to temple is through very bad and smelly streets. You will Know the reason once you visit through them Thanks to our beloved PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath that kaal bhairav temple is also under corridor plan and sooner or later you may visit Kashi Vishwanath and kaal bhairav in 1 go either from Lalita ghat or Mira ghat. Thanks for having patience. May lord Shiva bless all. Long live Hinduism, long live humanity. Jai baba Kashi Vishwanath.

Kaal Bhairav is a deity worshipped in Hinduism, particularly in the Shakta tradition. He is considered to be a fierce and powerful form of Lord Shiva. Known as the ‘Kotwal’ of Varanasi, it is believed that you should definitely pay a visit to this temple if you ever go to Varanasi. Every temple here has its own beliefs. This is one of the main attractions of the Banaras city. As we visited in the early hours of the day, we found much less crowd as compared to the normal hours of the day.

All the temples in Varansi have there specific significance. This temple premises is devoted to one of the avatars of Shiva. The entrance to the temple has been renovated. Devotees bring here oil sachet as offerings but many can bee seen with a bottle of Whiskey or other intoxicant as offering. Pandits have there small hawker style space allotted around the corridor selling their trinkets and helping us cleanse our soul with a minimum fees of 50 rupees. Mondays are crowded compared to the rest of the days.

Temple entry and exit are cumbersome, extremely narrow lanes leading to still narrower passages. One would refuse to believe that this temple has such significance. Something similar to what was done for kashi viswanath temple needs to be done here as well.

I visited the Kaal Bhairav Temple in Varanasi on a Saturday with my better half. It was a 15-20 minutes walk from the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, which is another famous Shiva temple in the city. The walk was pleasant and we enjoyed the views of the narrow lanes and the colorful street art along the way. We also took a cycle ride from the temple as we were tired after exploring the area. The Kaal Bhairav Temple is one of the oldest and most revered temples in Varanasi. It is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, a fierce form of Shiva who is considered to be the protector of the city and the remover of sins. The temple has a silver-faced idol of Kaal Bhairav who is seated on a dog and holds a trident. Only his face is visible through the doorway and it is decorated with garlands. The temple also has an icon of Kshetrapal Bhairav, another aspect of Bhairava, on the rear door12. The temple has a great historical and cultural significance in Hinduism. It is believed that Kaal Bhairav was created by Shiva to decapitate Brahma’s fifth head when he became arrogant and claimed to be supreme. The head stuck to Kaal Bhairav’s hand and he wandered around until he reached Varanasi, where he was freed from his sin13. He is also known as the Kotwal (Chief police officer) of Creation and no one can enter or leave Varanasi without his permission. The temple was crowded with devotees who came to seek blessings from Kaal Bhairav. We had to wait in a queue to get a glimpse of the deity and offer our prayers. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and awe. We also bought some prasad (sacred food) and souvenirs from the shops outside the temple. The visit to the Kaal Bhairav Temple was a memorable and spiritual experience for us. We felt a sense of peace and protection after seeing the powerful god. We learned a lot about the history and mythology of Varanasi and its connection with Shiva. We would recommend this temple to anyone who wants to explore the ancient and sacred side of Varanasi.
