Most recommended time for visit at near by 8 AM. Precaution: πŸ‘ŽDon't hire any guide here. Even unknown person can roam and understand all the places.

Far from the crowded city, much more peace to offer than other parts of the city. The statue is very tall and also has a great architecture. With greenery all around it, it's definitely a must visit place when you are at Sarnath or Varanasi. Do visit if you want some peaceful moments in your rushed life.

Statue of standing Lord Buddha is 80 ft (26m) in height, what also is one of tallest Buddha' in India. It is made from sand stone and it took 11 years to build it. Statue is surrounded by beautiful garden, what is well kept and perfect place, where to find peace in Varanasi. So don't miss out those gardens! In afternoon it is very sunny, so be careful to not get sunburn.

A must visit place in Sarnath. Known for the huge statue of Lord Buddha. It also contains a temple for meditation. Mostly crowded with tourists and locals. Entry is free of cost. No good eating joints close by. Open from sunrise to sunset.

This is the best place where you relax your mind. The vibe of this place is so wonderful. It is so beautiful, clean and well decorated by flower's plant. You have to visit this beautiful place with your family and friends. You can also enjoy your picnics here. It is a best place for kids entertainment. This is the only one biggest sculpture in this city. There is a Lord Buddha temple also.πŸ‘ŒπŸ™β€οΈ

I went here with my cousins on 18.3.2023. Great tall Buddha statue at back center of Wat Thai Sarnath Temple complex. Amazing park with beautiful fountain, statues, flowers. This place is must visit for Varanasi tourists.

Beautiful flowers, lily pond, many other statues. Contemplative, serene atmosphere. Amidst luxuriant beauty, giant Buddha statue is standing. If you go to Sarnath, don't miss this place. Statue itself was difficult to photograph in the mid-day sunlight, but I imagine it would do beautifully at sunset - the statue faces West. So do visit at around 4-5 p.m. There is drinking water facility inside. Last but not the least stay away from cheaters too.

Buddha came to Sarnath to preach his message of the middle way to nirvana after he achieved enlightenment at Bodhgaya, and gave his famous first sermon at the deer park here in Isipatana. In the 3rd century BC, Emperor Ashoka erected magnificent stupas and monasteries here, as well as an engraved pillar. When Chinese traveller Xuan Zang dropped by in AD 640, Sarnath boasted a 100m-high stupa and 1500 monks living in large monasteries. However, soon after, Buddhism went into decline, and when Muslim invaders sacked the city in the late 12th century, Sarnath disappeared altogether. It was only β€˜rediscovered’ by British archaeologists in 1835. Today it’s one of the four key sites on the Buddhist circuit – along with Bodhgaya, Kushinagar and Lumbini in Nepal – and attracts followers from around the world, especially on Purnima (or, informally, Buddha's birthday), when Buddha's life, death and enlightenment are celebrated, usually in April or May.

A beautiful place indeed, standing in front of Buddha is a blissful experience. The walkway to the statue too is very beautiful and well maintained. The nearby Thai temple too is a must see.

This statue of the Buddha depicts the Buddha standing in the Abhaya Mudra position indicating fearlessness, while standing on a lotus flower. The statue is about 25 metres high and made of a dull grey sandstone, so it doesn’t look as good for its size. It does stand in beautiful setting next to the Thai Temple and the entrance into the ground has a gilded statue of the Laughing Buddha, in contrast to the sandstone of the Buddha.
