We had visited with our friends. The staff was very rude. They had to be reminded of toiletries everyday. Till the last day, they couldn’t provide us. When it came to breakfast, there were so less options and fruits were optional. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Moreover the toilets were very small, the rooms were damp. The butter they served for breakfast was spoilt as well.

We were not given much choice. Either basement with no view or attic with view. Attic is just above the kitchen that smelled of Kerosene. Outside the room is exhaust pipe that made so much noise. We were too tire to go to another hotel. This was not the hotel our tour agent mentioned when we booked this trip. It's just a pathetic hotel!!! Toilet is so tiny that you have no space to change. Air-con and fan were noisy. Room smelled. Location is convenient to walk to ghat. That's the only consolation. Thankful that we stayed here for only 1 night. Will never recommend this hotel. Very Painful experience.

*Honest Review* Cons: In the name of a heritage hotel, it is a mediocre hotel with crummy rooms. The service of this hotel is so unprofessional and below par that when we left for Assi ghat after depositing our keys for a cleanup of our rooms, we expected that our rooms would be tidy upon our arrival. When we came back, not even a single towel or piece of cloth was moved from here to there. They provide you with 2x500ml water bottles for a day which are less than sufficient. When you ask them to provide extra water bottles then they say it is chargeable or else they’ll give water jug. I mean…is this really the kind of service you expect from a “so-called 3-star HERITAGE hotel”? I’ve paid you ₹28k for two rooms for two nights and you can’t even provide complimentary fresh sealed water bottles when the earlier ones got empty. The terrace is also very small and you don’t get any view from there. You can see car parking, see nearby buildings, hear road traffic noises, etc. Every room has a different feel of different states of India but the rooms are not maintained at all. You’ll find cracks on walls, stained floors and a water shower that sprays water in five different directions but not at you. Everything is improperly maintained. It is no less than an Oyo. You’ll find better properties than this in Varanasi. In my personal view look for a better property than spending 7-9k for a room on this or you’ll regret it after your check out. Pros: The only pros of this hotel are that it is just next to Assi Ghat and you’ll find interesting images and instruments of famous literary personalities in the corridor.

Avoid this place. It’s in a.good location but this hotel does not deserve 3 stars, it’s dirty, noisy and there is little attention to detail. Definitely avoid the room on the top floor it’s exceptionally bad. More like a room for staff than guests. It’s mosquito infested and we spent the first 1/2 hour each night swatting them before going to bed. A pair of pliers to operate the toaster in the breakfast room was a bonus!!!

Palace on Ganges- Varanasi Google review summary 4.2 Very good 1,380 reviews Rooms 2.5 Location 4.2 Service 3.9 What guests are saying "Great service Great view Great cleaning Great food Great staff" "The location of the place is awesome but the services are v mediocre." "Amazing rooms, service, bathrooms but the breakfast isn't up to t'he challenge Plus points: Nice location on ghats. Nice uniquely themed decor. Helpful staff. Pizziera Vatika, the best in town, just next door. Public car parking is right opposite although very poorly maintained & dirty, but there's an attendant, though he maybe there only to collect cash. The negatives: Small rooms (maybe ok by European standards), most rooms are locked in without ventilation, some have the river views, no exhaust in bathrooms. Saw 3 rooms, none had a towel rack or place for keeping the soap, body wash etc, no towel rail at the basin either. The shower curtains are not long enough to prevent shower water from splashing into the dry zone thus wetting the whole floor. These minor inexpensive additions will make the guest experience more comfortable & show that the owners do care for guests. Overall hotel hygeine is fair, not immaculate, few cockroaches seen emerging from floor crevices at night & flies seen in breakfast area in morning. A complaint to staff present was just ignored. Attention to these details is required. Even in the hottest months of the year they provide only 1 bottle of 500ml water per guest & demand hiked up charges for extra water which is really a mean act!! The only food we had was breakfast- flies already mentioned, the coffee was good thru a "cafe coffee day" machine, the rest was quite basic, but it maybe unfair to expect more considering the price paid. Come here for the prices & the location (if you can't find a better place during your period of visit) & be prepared for all the inconveniences mentioned or u will be disappointed!!

Excellent location. Only a stone's throw away from Assi Ghat. Good food, well maintained rooms. Although some rooms are a bit small but you won't be spending much time in your room anyways. Courteous staff. Overall an excellent place to stay. I will definitely recommend it.

It's hop, skip, jump from Assi Ghat. Located at prime spot, the hotel is perfect for family stay. Cozy rooms, warm hospitality. Food is also fine, but their restaurant is not recommended. You rather explore other food joints in Kashi. Overall, Palace of Ganges was a great stay.

Today, we came to explore the ghat and felt like having something to eat. We climbed the stairs at the Palace on Ganges and reached the rooftop restaurant. It was wonderful. We're regretting why we didn't stay here instead of staying at the Taj. Here we met the General Manager, Mr. Tiwari. He explained about the property and also shared information about the 'Lost Hero of Varanasi.' I took Mr. Tiwari's number; we'll stay here on our next visit. The food is also amazing.

I want to express my gratitude for Pranchal Gupta fantastic work as a manager. He has truly made our stay exceptional. His attention to detail, excellence service and the way he handles everything with a smile have left a lasting impression. His leadership has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the hotel. We are fortunate to have experienced such outstanding hospitality under his management. The other staffs are also very good in terms of service and hospitality. He is a true asset to Palace on Ganges, and I look forward to returning for another memorable stay. Thank you

Had dinner on 10th December 23 and lunch on 11th December 23 in their lovely rooftop restaurant with a view of the holy Ganges. The food was delicious and service excellent and premises very clean. The awsome decor of the hotel includes pencil sketches of all luminaries born in Varanasi to include freedom fighters, artists and sportsmen.

Excellent hospitality, Comfortable choice I stayed in a family room with two beds which is perfect for a nuclear family. I appreciate the staff for its services and corporation. They provide top-notch breakfast. It is neither too far nor too close to the visiting places with nearby availability of autos and rickshaws. I fully encourage you to consider this hotel as it will be a good choice.

If you want to feel the vibe of Assi Ghat, the activities around it, walk up to the Ganges whenever you want to, watch the morning and the evening ARATI , the musical/ cultural program thereafter and of course the Yoga session ( after morning Ganga Arati and cultural programme), you have to stay at Palace on Ganges. I was a bit sceptical when I climbed up the steep stairs off the road with two octogenarians in our group of seven in a late October evening and wondered how the three day stay would be. But as hours passed , I was proved wrong. More so than the heritage look of the property, I would like to mention about the warmth and hospitality of the staff present there.Pranchal at the desk left no stone unturned to help us in all possible ways. The roof top restaurant with a partial view of the Ganges had a homely ambience, serving standard food. I found it to be a place for 'Adda' which we Bengalis love with fresh food ( both veg and non - veg) being served for lunch and dinner. Though my solo trip budget will not permit me to stay there for the second time, I wish the authorities could provide some special discounts and arrangements for people like me going solo for business .Palace on Ganges is a HOME AWAY FROM HOME and I would love to go back there with my family and friends and enjoy the walks along the Ganges strolling from one ghat to another and enjoy the impeccable boat ride too. A special note for Mr. Anil Tiwari who greeted us with a warm smile and chatted with us whenever we met on his very first day of joining the property as General Manager. With his vision and warmth, I believe Palace on Ganges will be a more better place to stay at in near future. I strongly recommend PALACE ON GANGES at Assi Ghat, Varanasi to feel the pulse of this ancient living city in the world.

The hotel is one of them that is very closely located almost at the banks of River Ganga at Assi Ghat. It gives the vibes of heritage property, with well furnished rooms equipped with safe lockers, mini bar and in house roof top restaurant that overlooks the river. The big negative being lack of lifts and thus not recommended for people with impaired ability including senior citizens, there might be practical constraints of having lifts in such properties, so we need to bear with these. Also, accessibility of the property is impacted during the Aarti hours due to road closer by local admin. Be ready to walk few meters at those times. Though the staff is not bad, but hospitality could be better.

First of all, the property is really amazing. I came to Varanasi with my family, and we had rented 3 rooms. On the day we checked in, we were quite disappointed with the rooms. However, yesterday, we met GM Mr. Tiwari, and it didn't feel like he had only been here for a day. He has very good knowledge about Varanasi, and he listened to our problems seriously. He promised that we wouldn't face any issues in the future. He appears very professional. Thanks to Mr. Tiwari once again. The property will thrive under his guidance, and special thanks to the owner who built such a great property.

Typical old style hotel in Varanasi. Nothing extremely wrong, but they make you pay the position. Ameliorations would be welcome, generally speaking. Breakfast and meals scarce

The room itself was spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with modern amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep. The cleanliness of the room and the attention to detail in housekeeping were exceptional.

While the location is perfect, just overlooking the Assi Ghat, the rooms are small and the prices don't coincide with neither their quality nor service. The property has a lot of potential which they are choosing not to make the most of. The hotel would be perfect had the rooms been priced at half or at least a quarter of their current rates.

One of the highlights of my stay was dining at the hotel's restaurant, which offered a delectable array of Indian and international cuisines. The meals were expertly prepared using fresh, local ingredients, and the presentation was impeccable. The restaurant's elegant ambiance, coupled with the courteous staff, made every dining experience a memorable one. In conclusion, the Palace on Ganges is a majestic hotel that embraces the rich cultural heritage of Varanasi while providing modern comforts and exceptional service. From the grand architecture to the attentive staff, every aspect of this hotel exudes elegance and charm.

Horrible experience. In mid may the room is on 4th floor without lift. It is kind of attic. The tv does not have sound. Most uncomfortable. The bothroom is one foot above the room. At 70 plus it is a paid punishment I have bought for us

There is a restaurant on roof top I was surprised to see less people If you like siting on roof top with views of Ganges and assi then you should go once Food was good and staff were courteous. Apart from tea , all the items in menu is moderately priced

Location is good and its depicted to be a heritage hotel but yet again the maintenance is not upto the mark!! Couple of rooms are way too expensive as per the quality you get.. Wallart and cupboard as well door only have Kamasutra sculptures!!! Please work on the furniture and cleanliness!!

All though i rated it 5 but there were 2 problems with the rooms and reasons are: 1- room smell.. rooms were perfect there is no doubt about it but the smell irritated me throughout the night. Even after putting room spray 2. Sockets problem.. there was only on free socket, if you having more than 2 phones and laptop or any stuff then you need to plug out the lamp switch

Location is the USP of this place. Situated just beside assi Ghat. Rooms are clean and cozy yet feels a little bit congested and lacks ventilation. Food is good including breakfast and value for money. Staff is responsive and quick but can be a bit more pleasant. Overall a really good experience and highly recommended to stay.
