One of the few hotels in Varanasi that located in the bank of the river. Very unique and beautiful view from the room if you choose the riverside room. The photo is taken from the balcony of the room no 118. This is the best room you can choose from the hotel and it’s also the expensive room in the hotel but the view and the fresh cold wind worth it. The room is located on the 3rd floor and comparatively new than other rooms. If you don’t like honking sounds of car and pedestrians, choose this hotel over other hotels in the middle of the market. You can’t drive car infront of the hotel. You have to walk a little from the main road to come to the hotel. Ask any local person, they’ll help you to find the hotel.

Not happy with the hotel, it says 3 star hotel and they dint even provide with shampoo inside the room. Hotel suppose to provide with soap, shampoo and conditioner. There was only a small soap and no hot water. We stayed for 4 days and complained about hot water and they said they will fix it but dint fix it. We are 3 people and they gave us very small room even though they had big rooms. Front desk staff helped find an adaptor for my laptop but overall if I see the experience was not great. The hotel was in the lanes.have to walk 2km to go to main road to catch cab or autos. It was hard every time to walk. We pre booked the hotel online and paid 3700 for each day, but the price for AC is 2200 only. Even though we paid that much money, we dint get better room, no hot water. And they asked us to check out at 11 am they dint even consider for few extra hours as we were leaving at 5 pm on checkout day. We had to wait downstairs at the restaurant area . We came there for the first time and we expected better hotel but it was disappointing for the price we paid.

Don’t book through Agoda! A 35 us room became a 50 us room! And it is not worth that. The location is good. I’ve stayed here many times in the past. I like the people but cleaning, clean, service, shower, laundry well sometimes it happens and sometimes it does not. Book and deal with directly.

We stayed in premium view rooms for 3 days from 8th May. Location is outstanding. Got feeling of real Varanasi while reaching to hotel and the Mandir through narrow lanes. Service was very good. Food, though veg. was awesome and the services given by BIRBAL needs special mention. The staff including front desk are nice and cooperative.

Hotel is far from temple even rooms were smaller in size. But you directly get view of holy river Ganga and Ghats which is plus point for this hotel. Staff was polite and co-operative all the time.

After reading positive reviews on Facebook, I decided to book a room at Hotel Alka in Varanasi due to its close proximity to Kasi Vishwanath Temple and Dashashwamedh Ghat. The hotel even offered a view of the Ganges, which was impressive. However, there were a few aspects that I found rather disappointing. Firstly, the lanes leading to the hotel were incredibly dirty, which created a rather unpleasant and uninviting approach to the property. The narrowness of these lanes also made it quite challenging to maneuver luggage with wheels. Moreover, the walking distance from the point where Auto Rickshaws, Rickshaws, or Totos are permitted to ply up to the hotel is quite extensive. This could potentially pose difficulties, especially for elderly individuals, physically challenged persons, or those with health problems. In such cases, reaching the hotel without the option of hiring a wheelchair could be quite arduous. Turning to the accommodations, the rooms themselves were not as spacious as I had expected, given the prices being charged. This aspect was a bit underwhelming and affected the overall comfort of the stay. Lastly, it came as a surprise to me that there was no complimentary drinking water provided in the room. This is a basic amenity that I believe should be standard in any hotel, especially considering the rates and the overall quality of service that Hotel Alka aims to provide.

The quality is the most important feature of this hotel. Normal hotels usually charge minimal fees for providing only the most basic service, and the luxury hotels is more focus on rich travelers can be very expensive. Most of basic hotels just offer one-bedroom units and the room is small, but higher-level hotels will have big suites. Both of them have clients, just different in serve emphasize. .

This hotel service is pathetic, they even ignore your call and keep aside if they know that you are calling regarding room service. View is good but location wise too many ups and down stairs to reach and even this hotel don't have lift . Overall avoid to stay in this hotel and you can cover hardly 1 location from this hotel and get tired

River view is very good, food is OK. There is no room service. Location is very good, but you have to walk for a considerable distance from the main road to reach it. Arrangement for boat ride and car is also available.

Loved the hotel and the place is very convenient for Temple as well as ghats. Try to reach the hotel from ghats side as it’s easier to locate. We tried to find it from inside narrow lanes and it took us a while to locate it. Hotel is neat and clean with foreign crowd as well. Inside is beautiful with trees and beautiful view of ganga and ghat.

You can walk to all major ghats and viswanath temple from the hotel. Great view of ganga. A decent restaurant too. The rooms are old but well kept. Worth the stay.

Beautiful hotel..nice location located on ghat. You have to walk 500-600 meters through a narrow and rushed path to reach the hotel. Food is excellent. You name any dish they will make as per customization.

I have booked one room in this hotel at around Rs 2300/-, but there is nothing hospitality provided by hotel except given you a 8fit by 8 fit room. There are certain things which you need to consider befor book this room. 1. Its closed to ganga ghat, so you neef to walk with your baggage around 500 mtr by crowded street. 2. Room is very congested and you may be provided at 3rd floor without lift. 3. Dont except any professionalism.Just given you a room, the work has over. Pros:- Its near to ganga ghat , so u can visit the ghats and temple by walk.Location is gud.

I stayed on 23Dec in standard room by paying 1200+ taxes online through GoIbibo. Online sites have wrong info about the amenities. Room is very very small, only 1 person can sleep. Its in the basement, no network, no window, lot of mosquitos, no TV, no Internet, no room service, no toiletries, awful smell, very less options for food . no privacy- the joint room can hear every noise from your room.. Only plus point is near the ghat.

It’s average hotel. Very compact rooms. In double bedroom they provide single mattress which are not comfortable. Location is far from town centre. This hotel should avoid by elderly people. Complete no. You have to walk at least 1 km from last vehicle drop zone.

Mixed experience with this hotel. Good things first: beautiful Ganga view. Very close to gate number2. Negatives: you have no choice but to walk 2 km and sometimes jam packed narrow gully. Note: No auto, rickshaw Or cab allowed to this area. Some of the rooms have common toilet and bathrooms.

The hotel does not have free drinking water in rooms. All hotels by default provide a bottle or jug of water the moment we check in but here I had to bought it. In summer, the bathing water is also hot due to improper piping and storage. Overall better hotels are available at better price.

The best place to stay near Assi ghat. Everything here from the views, the room service, the food, the staffs is commendable. Also it is just at a few meters distance from the main Temple which is another star mark. I highly recommend this place as it is quite pocket friendly.

The manager (who he claims to be) of the hotel diverted to another venue where we had booked for this hotel. The hotel given to us was not worth the money we had paid. The manager should be removed. The manager of Alka hotel is a stupid person and he deserves a resignation! Promised Something and delivering worst.

The staff here is very good and took good care of me since I was travelling solo. The rooms are badly managed . Cockroaches made my life miserable . The bed was clean and so was the bathroom . However cockroaches were flying all over so the hygiene was 0

Rooms have good Ganges view but apart from that everything is the worst. No access road. Travellers have to walk through narrow lanes, climb steps. Restaurant is not at all equipped properly. Even for a cup of tea you need to wait for ages. Room cleanliness is not up to the standards.

We have really enjoyed a lot from all points of view. Entry point problem is there specially for elderly people, otherwise it's really a great place to enjoy vacation to the heart's content.

The location is excellent. Bang on the ghat and just a few steps away from the Dashashwamedh ghat where Ganga Aarti takes place. Rooms are ok with all the bare basic essentials but the staff is very very good. The manager and the whole team including the catering people go out of their way to make each guest comfortable. They are always willing to advise and guide a customer,if they are asked. They have access to local people and local information so are very cooperative and reasonable. Even during this peak time of Dev Deepawali the staff was available beyond their working hours to make everyone comfortable. The open courtyard on each level of the hotel is fantastic. You walk out of your room and get such an amazing View of Ganga ji and the ghats that it's just mesmerizing. If a guest is in Varanasi for a longer duration a considerable amount of time could be spent here in the magical balconies sipping chai . The hotel is working on the structure and the sprucing work is already on. The upholstery and the fittings are being worked on which I am sure would add to the charm of this hotel. It's such a great place that I met other solo female travelers too. This speaks a lot about the safety and security of the hotel. If I ever have to choose a place to stay on the ghats of Varanasi I will always choose Hotel Alka . It was like a home away from home kind of feel.

One of the best place to stay in front of Ganges with serene beauty. Kashi Viswanath temple is very near... so it's best for aged people also. But rooms are not up to the mark. And the worst part is there's no room service for food. You have to come to the canteen area to have food.
