After
reading
positive
reviews
on
Facebook,
I
decided
to
book
a
room
at
Hotel
Alka
in
Varanasi
due
to
its
close
proximity
to
Kasi
Vishwanath
Temple
and
Dashashwamedh
Ghat.
The
hotel
even
offered
a
view
of
the
Ganges,
which
was
impressive.
However,
there
were
a
few
aspects
that
I
found
rather
disappointing.
Firstly,
the
lanes
leading
to
the
hotel
were
incredibly
dirty,
which
created
a
rather
unpleasant
and
uninviting
approach
to
the
property.
The
narrowness
of
these
lanes
also
made
it
quite
challenging
to
maneuver
luggage
with
wheels.
Moreover,
the
walking
distance
from
the
point
where
Auto
Rickshaws,
Rickshaws,
or
Totos
are
permitted
to
ply
up
to
the
hotel
is
quite
extensive.
This
could
potentially
pose
difficulties,
especially
for
elderly
individuals,
physically
challenged
persons,
or
those
with
health
problems.
In
such
cases,
reaching
the
hotel
without
the
option
of
hiring
a
wheelchair
could
be
quite
arduous.
Turning
to
the
accommodations,
the
rooms
themselves
were
not
as
spacious
as
I
had
expected,
given
the
prices
being
charged.
This
aspect
was
a
bit
underwhelming
and
affected
the
overall
comfort
of
the
stay.
Lastly,
it
came
as
a
surprise
to
me
that
there
was
no
complimentary
drinking
water
provided
in
the
room.
This
is
a
basic
amenity
that
I
believe
should
be
standard
in
any
hotel,
especially
considering
the
rates
and
the
overall
quality
of
service
that
Hotel
Alka
aims
to
provide.
