👍👍 Very modern and helpful staff. Tons of non library activities to enjoy as well. Amazing study spaces and the outdoor area on the 3rd floor is charming. I really liked the random six flag and amusement park maps they had laid out. Would enjoy seeing more of those items. Parking was free and easy. No... This library is super kid friendly!! I especially love the low bins for kids books that allow kids to easily select books without having to take them off a shelf. My daughter can’t read yet and loved being able to look at the covers of the books instead of the spines. In addition to the books there is also a play area for younger kids, computers for older kids, several play tables with building manipulatives, and even video games! The self checkout worked seamlessly. We will be back here many more times!

I would live in Arlington just to go to the library. I live in a Ft Worth suburb and we also have an amazing library. First, parking was accessible. Next, they were open on a Monday. Then, the librarian was knowledgeable and helpful with questions and equipment. Lastly we were greeted by everyone we walked past. Oh and the poinsettia tree in the foyer is beautiful.

The George W. Hawkins library offers several nice meeting rooms. The Resilience Room includes a drop down video screen and a built-in projector with input panel.

Such fun play areas for the kids and a huge selection of kids books! A great place to bring the kids on a day you need to be inside but want to leave the house!

This library is amazing. It is well stocked with all types of media like books, movies, audiobooks, and more. I can name a few facilities that are available here, such as private meeting rooms, semi private study rooms/booths, table sets among the shelves, seats of all shapes/sizes, outlets, a protected charging station, help desks, water fountains, water bottle refill stations, a kids play area, a rooftop garden lounge, computers, Wi-Fi for library card owners, bathrooms, art, the "DISCOVER!" sculpture on first floor that can double as a couple of seats, and probably more! I want to emphasize how modern this library is, they have computers everywhere for accessing their catalog and the internet, the water bottle refill stations are automated, the protected charging station is automated; I am particularly impressed with the automated self checkout for books and other media too. The servers for the online catalog are also fast and organized too, one could check out online ebooks/audiobooks from anywhere without even having to make a trip to the library. So far I have not had any negative interactions with staff, in fact they have all been so very sweet to me by showing me where books are, how to get a library car, and explaining to me how the self checkout system works.

So wonderful, Kids loved it. It was confusing at first finding where to park but we found it near the railroad tracks. I am loving the creative areas. Each floor had something awesome. Very well designed.

I've been here a few times & have loved the location. Still do but decided to make this review for other people wondering. I bought food to eat & brought into the library, sat at a table with no one around or anything that I could ruin, but was told I could only eat my food on the 3rd floor balcony (in triple digit weather). I made sure to research the website to see if there was a rule about it, I also saw NO signs anywhere in the buildng about not being able to have food. So now I am in my car, eating, after having already carried my backpack & books to the 2nd floor & settled at a table. Very irritating. It has tainted my experience because I could have avoided the frustration & inconvenience altogether had they made clear signs within the vast building &/or notice about it on their website.

I was eating sliced apples and studying, when a library worker ( bigger male with brown hair) YELLED at me that I could not eat. My blood pressure was low…. I would understand if I were touching books and making a mess.. I was on my laptop not making noise.

Dangerous location with no procedures in place! The front of the library has 4 lanes of traffic. A train crosses at that area too. They do not give you bags to help with the book load rented nor do they let you use the baskets. You have to juggle the books and your safety with absolutely no help. I frequent the library with my 3 children (7yo, 4yo & 2yo). I have instilled a love of reading & print in my children so when we leave we have a large load of books. There is a woman in her 50s with neck length light brown hair & cat eye glasses at the front that refused to give me a plastic bag, refused to let me leave my library card to utilize a basket & smiled & watched me (with a smile) as I struggled to carry books and hold my children’s hands to cross this dangerous street. We utilized the crossing that gives you 20 seconds to cross but it wasn’t enough for a 2yo that could only hold my finger. They should really offer bags, let you leave a library card to utilize the basket & make sure you return it or have a person on hand to help. I love this library but it’s dangerous & because of that should have procedures in place to help. They should also hire caring staff up front. A caring person wouldn’t watch another woman struggle with small children to cross this dangerous street.

Truly outstanding library! Plenty of space to find somewhere quiet, can even use private rooms when they aren't reserved. Easy to get a library card, and they even have 6 3D printers and provide filament at 20 cents a gram.

The facility is immaculate, and well stocked. My issues are when you return and item and it says that it wasn’t turned in, it is YOUR fault and if they don’t find it too bad you pay for it! The kids area is amazing but ANYTHING louder then a whisper and your kid gets told to be quiet. What is the kids area for then? Yeah I get no shouting but how can a kid be a kid? Also how rude and unwelcoming can a staff be? They seem bothered when you have a question, don’t bother asking for help using the copier or any other machine.

The library has got a amazing collection of books. The location is really great. One can just sit next to a window, read some books and have a nice time. Must visit library, and is close to my Uni.

Such an inconvenient place if you’re not a resident I walked 45 minutes to this library to use the computer they require a $1 for a guest pass and if you don’t have $1 bill you can’t swipe your card for under $3 and then the guy at the front desk says you can’t use a chrome book as a guest but it says you can online so it makes zero sense

This is a great library. They have an excellent selection of books and the study rooms are great. I also enjoy their children’s section when I take my kids to get new books!

It literally took me 5 minutes to get an membership. You would need an government issued ID. And the book takeout is very simple too! Just scan your ID and scan the book! Great books and service 👏

The library itself is great. But the librarians are SO loud. I know how much it sucks working at a boring workplace but it becomes extremely hard to study when the librarians are cackling like hyenas. I've been on the third floor for three hours and for the entirety of the last two, the librarians have been engaged in their own conversation, cackling like hyenas every thirty seconds. If you want to engage in such lively conversation with your co-workers, then a librarian job is not the job for you.

My favorite library in town! So beautiful, with tons of books and a great children's area. Plenty of space at tables and the noise level is low. They even have an outdoor garden balcony, though it does get pretty hot out there!

The new downtown library is awesome. They have several comfy chairs tucked away in quiet spaces. Out in open social spaces and it's a great place to hang out and read it write.

Awesome in every way.. every kid and adult must start going there as in this digital era, more inspiration and attraction is needed to divert people towards books and knowledge it contains and Downtown library is the best example so far in Arlington

It is so beautiful, quiet, and creative. Filled to the brim with books, work stations, quiet nooks, but also lots of interesting and useful equipment for the community's use! Really looking forward to using the embroidery machine and the screen printing station soon!

I love spending time in the library. Ny son likes the kids area where he can play and read and play some games on the computer. I like spending time in second or third floor studying or reading. So quite and nice people in there. Restrooms are clean. And I can reserve a study room for myself or for meeting with group. Nice and good service. Thank you

The most modern place in Arlington, and one of the best public places in the city. You might not initially expect such a state-of the art facility in a small city like Arlington. Kudos to the city council, and those behind the idea. One of the best local libraries in the USA.
