Please Doctors and Staff, remember because you seem to not care, the tasteless stuff you are saying about patients can be heard by all through the thin walls. Especially hurts when you are the patient, seeking help and have this happen. My doctor referred me to the wrong type of doctor, I waited months, without sleep and in pain, to the point I've considered taking my own life. This doctor belittled me, made me feel as if I was wasting his time, because he doesn't do muscle stuff. We weren't sure if it was muscle or bone that was causing the issue that's why I was referred. After being condescending for a short period of time the doctor ask if I wanted him to send a referral for a doctor that would actually see me. He claim they had a whole bunch of them on the other side of the practice. It's been a month and a half and I've called and I've still not gotten an appointment. I was able to ask my primary care for a referral to the center and they call me the same day and have me scheduled already. If you think you're above your patients or you feel the need to talk about them then maybe you should find a different career or a happy place in your life. Those coming to seek treatment do not need your judgments passed on to them. UPDATE: Today after waiting months to get into a neck their doctor who would listen to me and getting an MRI it was discovered that I did have a tear in my rotator cuff. So basically this surgeon who dismissed me from the moment he saw me walk in without ever even talking to me was wrong and has led to me being and pain and trying to take my life multiple times because of it. Please get a second opinion.

Let me start this by saying, Dr Goodman is great. Desert Orthopedics authorization department is the reason I'm leaving the low review. On multiple occasions whomever handles there injection authorizations has repeatedly dropped the ball on more than 2 authorization request. I typically wait over a week before I start calling about my authorizations to schedule my procedures. But after it has been nearly two weeks or more and I still haven't heard anything I'm frustrated. The reason for my low review is, authorization requests are not submitted to my insurance carrier in a timely manner. My insurance carrier is very good about reviewing and issuing decision quickly (2-3 day turn around). I had an appt on June 9th and it was decided to submit for another authorization for an injection. By June 26th I still had not heard anything from Desert Orthopedics office AND had not received anything from my insurance company regarding the request. I called the office to get an update and was told by the person that answered the phone, who was very nice, they didn't see a request for the injection so they transferred me to the person that does the authorizations. I left a VERY detailed message asking about the status AND requesting a call back for an update because I was in a lot of pain. My phone call was NEVER returned. I showed up at the doctors office on 30th to speak to someone directly for status. Only after I was insistent on speaking to whomever was in charge of the authorization directly was I able to speak to the person that does the "scheduling of injections" only to be told the insurance denied it and they would have to talk to Dr Goodman when he returned. Dr Goodman was great about calling me directly on July 3 and 5th. He said they would resubmit again with the office notes from my visit; as it appeared they may not have done that the first time. I've been patiently waiting for that request. It's been 9 days and I still have not heard anything. When I finally called in today to find out the status, I was told by the kind person that answers the phone they didn't see any additional request had been submitted since talking to the doctor on July 5. I left a message with Dr Goodman's medical assistant and received a call back the same day, which was great customer service. However, I was told the authorization was only submitted today after I called to check on it. I am beyond frustrated. I love the care I get from Dr Goodman, his medical assistant and those responsible for answering the phones. HOWEVER, there is something seriously being mismanaged with the authorizations department. If this had only happened once or twice I would never think of writing a negative review. This is a chronic problem and is causing me to rethink having my orthopedic care with Desert Orthopedics. Just so everyone understands, this is not an issue with the doctor or front office staff. This is a repeated failing on the back office management of the insurance authorizations department. Something needs to change for the better. If the work load is too much, hire more people! If its a matter of staff not being trained properly, then take time to train the properly. This is not a recently developing issue. I have done medical authorizations and surgery coordinating for 5 years. I understand what it takes to do the job; so I'm not speaking out of hand or without understanding of what is involved in treatment request authorization and scheduling process. There is a serious problem with the management of the authorizations department.

My son hurt hurt finger and was seen at the ER. We were referred to Desert Orthopedics by the Emergency department. Isiah called me and left a message telling me I could go ahead and call back and make an appointment for my son, (on 6/6/23 @1:52) stating that Dr. Lindsey wanted him to be seen by either Dr Smith or Dr Hoblit. And Dr Lindsey was the hand doctor that helped the ER team while my son was in the ER. Yet today at 10:45am I was told that they will not see my son. They refused to see him said the attending on call doc needed to see him? Very confusing very bad business. When I asked to speak to Isiah or a manager I was told no. And instead placed on hold for 10 minutes to be told again they are refusing to see my son. So I’m confused as to why one of your doctors on your team is saying my son needs an appointment with you’re business and then your scheduling department is refusing to allow that? I can pick who ever I want to take my son to and the ER even verified that. But with that being said we will never use desert ortho again! Hopefully my son doesn’t lose his finger due to not being treated in proper time due to this establishments mess up!

Quick check in with an adorable young lady, then I only had to wait a few minutes before being called. Once the lovely nurse visited with me she let Dr Goodman know I was ready and within just a few minutes he came into the room. We visited briefly and doctor injected my shoulder and I left. Everything was clean and neat, very timely appointment and very professional staff. I was extremely satisfied.

Their billing practices are downright exploitative!! I was billed $500 for a knee brace that is comparable to $20-$50 braces online (my orthopedic surgeon pointed that out to me). That price is adjusted after my in-network insurance. The best part? Nobody informed me of prices throughout my whole visit. I resorted to posting this review after I months of back-and-fourth with the billing department… do not go here

This is a medical center I actually enjoy going to. My two Dr.s McCleery and Goodman are the best! Their MAs and support staff are stellar and front staff are welcoming.

Dr. Smith is an exceptional physician with excellent bedside manner as well as exceptional surgical skills. I have worked in the medical field for over 35 years and Dr. Smith is a rare find. I’m going back to him for surgery on my other wrist. I would highly recommend Dr. Smith without any hesitation!

I called to schedule a consult and was met with a very rude receptionist. I explained that I had injured my shoulder over the weekend and went into Now Care shortly after. I did not feel confident that the surgeon who saw me there cared and had previously seen someone at Desert Ortho a year prior and would like to be seen there. She berated me and started lecturing me about how I shouldn’t switch because I had an MRI scheduled. I explained that I scheduled the MRI myself and I understood I needed one and that I knew it would be a couple weeks before I could get one. I just wanted to make sure I was comfortable with the provider who was supposed to be caring for me. That was my reason for wanting to switch. She continued to berate me and pretty much refused to scheduled me. It was so very uncalled for. I gave up and hung up after it became clear she just wanted to lecture me endlessly.

Every experience I have had with Desert Orthopedics has been incredibly efficient and enjoyable. They got me in just two days after I had injured myself, and I was in surgery one week later. I had already been recovering from surgery for 6 weeks when The Center (the ortho the hospital had written my referral to) called to get me in to be seen!! Cannot recommend Desert Orthopedics enough. Dr. Naimark and PA Michael Dennis have been nothing but wonderful to work with, and fixed me up better than I could have hoped for.

Thank you Dr. Shultz, the time you took showing and explaining my MRI was beyond anything I had previously seen or expected. This level of detail helped set my mind at ease. You then went on to a physical examination, so thank you. A special thank you to Tanya K. the surgery scheduler, for reaching out to me and working on my surgery scheduling.

Oof.. could not recommend this place less to my friends/family, and here’s why: Went in with an ankle sprain/concern, was seen for about 10 minutes with very middling care or attention to my issues (recommended a brace on Amazon - thanks), and a couple of weeks later was shocked to see a bill in the mail for $290. $290?! To tell me my ankle is probably alright and to get a brace on Amazon for activity. F off - go anywhere else than here for your orthopedic concerns. That’s outrageous, prohibitive to many, and Desert Orthopedics should be ashamed for lack of transparency and price gouging.

Surgery and recovery went as expected on hip replacement. A year later experienced pain around hip area for which I could not self diagnose. Made appointment, the earliest of which was nearly 4 weeks out. 5 days before appointment, I received a voice mail advising me that my appointment was cancelled and needed to be rescheduled due to the provider (a PA) was to be 'in surgery'. You think they would know these things when they schedule appointments? So, now I am forced to wait by my phone for someone to call me about a reschedule because I can't get a human on the phone. I am not genetically attached to my phone nor am I paid to wait for a call. That's what their staff is for. So, if you have medical needs, especially if you are in pain, I suggest you look elsewhere because if you need help after the procedure at this place...good luck to you!

Dr Smith was great! He saw me and scheduled surgery quickly, as my injury required. I am pleased with how the surgery went and feel I am on road to full recovery. Thank you Dr. Smith and your staff.

Amazing people to work with. Kelly in particular is warm, funny, and always entertaining. Dr Kent has been such an asset for the local community and I trust these folks implicitly. Thank you for taking care of Bend’s walking wounded!
