EDIT: Ten months later. Same issue as below. This place needs to be SHUT DOWN. Itā€™s completely useless. THOMAS KEY is the Postmaster here. He is the most incredibly rude individual I've ever met in my life. He literally started shouting at me on the phone when I called the post office for help. I've filed an official complaint with USPS over this. With people like Mr. Key in positions of authority, no wonder the Post Office is going under. Wow. This place could not suck more. Their phone option to speak with an actual person is a big mystery only attained through bloodyminded stubbornness. Then when you figure out how to get transferred to a human, thereā€™s a 40 minute hold time. Having the fortitude to hold for that long gets you......ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE! They spent six days repeatedly attempting to deliver my package to the wrong address, despite my scheduling a redelivery to the correct address. The person on the phone was completely useless. Couldnā€™t tell me how to resolve this. I hope the driver has fun trying to deliver that package to an empty building until the end of time, because Iā€™ve given up. I used to be an advocate for keeping the USPS operational but after this experience, Iā€™ll be a vociferous advocate for privatization.

Avoid this post office if you can, it is worth driving to an entirely different town for help. Walked in 15 minutes before the location closed and was told the help I needed would take 20 minutes so they were unwilling to help me. Really? You can't stay five minutes after closing to help me with my mail? This place is the definition of a worthless government service provider.

I cannot believe the incompetency of some of the staff within this facility... Some who call themselves "supervisors." Notice, I did say some of the staff because others are great. However, one or two people can ruin it for the entire facility. Biggest mistake coming here... Took four of my children to get their passport photos taken and thought it would be done correctly since I am coming to a post office. Three got their passports 4 weeks later and one has still not gotten hers because the person taking the photo did not tell my daughter to take her glasses off in the picture... "it slipped her mind.." they said.. It's her job to take the photos correctly... we pay for a service to be done correctly.. and it slipped her mind... Needless to say, a booked vacation has to be cancelled now because the passport didn't come in on time because "it slipped her mind..." I won't even go into what I had to deal with when having to retake the photo and send it in again... TERRIBLE!

Doesnā€™t even deserve one star! Mail deliveries sporadic, often delivered after 5pm. Itā€™s 5:35pm 6/9/23, still no mail delivery yet. I signed up for Informed Delivery just to know whatā€™s SUPPOSED to be delivered today. Additionally, one regular front counter postal clerk is very RUDE and very slow in performing her duties. Post Office needs a shakeup. Maybe a congressional investigation?!?!?! No other business in town would survive this kind of service.

First off, apparently you need to make an appointment just to have a passport picture taken. I went to the website and could not find where to actually make said appointment but also find it a bit ridiculous. I had ALL paperwork filled out online, and just needed a picture - yet I had to make an appointment. There was ONE gentleman in front of me, and he had apparently made an appt (I have no idea how) and they said it would be a 30 MINUTE WAIT to have my picture taken. There were 2 other employees besides the employee helping the guy, and NO OTHER CUSTOMERS in the entire building. I used to photograph passport pictures at Sears as a manager, it's not that hard. I should've just offered to do it myself if they had a tripod. The employee helping the passport guy actually asked the other 2 employees to take the passport picture and they said no. Then they told me to go to Walgreens! I was being perfectly reasonable, but they were so rude. I just figured the actual post office could do what they do best - and apparently today what they do best is not help customers sadly. If it was busy, I would completely understand. I should've just gone somewhere else. I will add that the male post office employee doing the passports seemed very nice, but unfortunately the female he was working with at the counter and in the back left such bad impressions that I couldn't possibly go back.

I havenā€™t been here for about 5 years and I know why. Find another location to do your postal business. Service is slow and unfriendly. Long lines with no additional counter help.

Slowwww, very slow and the credit card machine wasnā€™t working, cash only. Difficult after youā€™ve addressed and taped a post office envelope with their packing tape. Went to the bank, got cash, returned, waited in line to one teller who was very slow and then was finally able to pay for my two items. Go to Highland Park

Our new mail carrier doesn't deliver our mail to our suite, she just scatters it throughout the building. I called the office and spoke to a very rude employee who said your carrier does not deliver your mail because you have no number on your door. So apparently they lie about why they don't deliver, too. I'm not sure what recourse we have when government employees have no accountability.

The staff at the Deerfield Post Office is great. They take their time with more complex transactions and give the customer every option. They are also very efficient to get you in and out. Great team work.

If I could give zero stars I would. Rudest customer service I've ever experienced.

This is without a doubt the worst post office. The service is terrible and they donā€™t careā€¦ Today, I spent 30 minutes with a teller who couldnā€™t figure out how to put $1.07 on the 22 letters I needed to mailā€¦ She would go to the back as slow as she could possibly walk and then come back up (just as slowly) with no clue how to mail my lettersā€¦. Soā€¦.. I actually went to the post office to mail 22 letters and they couldnā€™t figure out how to do it! After 30 minutes, I gave up and told the teller to just forget itā€¦ā€¦ Iā€™ll go to a different post office tomorrowā€¦..what a waste of my timeā€¦. Complete incompetents who donā€™t care one bitā€¦ā€¦So irritating! If there was a score lower than 1star I would give that.

Service can be slow, but there is one worker here I'd like to commend! He's a tall guy who's helped me twice with shipping packages and was very patient, especially since I was super unfamiliar with the process. I appreciate his friendliness in an environment where customers & employees alike tend to be on-edge or standoffish.

I paid Priority package to be delivered to Northbrook,IL. It was supposed to be delivered today. They send the package to Elk Grove and now it is sitting in Palatine for no reason and who knows for how long. Why do they have to send the package away if the recipient lives a mile away from Deerfield? That was the reason I send the package from that facility so it will arrive faster. I just thrown away $18 for a ā€œfast deliveryā€ that will take longer than a regular mail. USPS is not what it is used to be. There workers need more common sense.

Tried to mail a VERY small package - she (staff member) said the USPS bucket was full and she couldnā€™t take my small package and I had to go else where to USPS to mail it. WHEN I spent 10 minutes in there, very polite and paid for shipping - I have used and shipped small packages with USPS label Thru UPS my entire life. The best part is that she said their bin was ā€œfullā€ But it was literally empty when she showed me. Donā€™t go here.

The workers are all very helpful when you are at the desk. But it is usually understaffed with long lines. Thank you to Katie for always working and doing her best to satisfy the needs of every customer as quickly as possible.

This is a decent enough post office. They're a lot friendlier at the counter than most places. Just wish the mail carriers out of this office would do things like pick up from my mailbox

Best folks ever! And most helpful... I had issue with debris on my cards while paying and wouldn't go through but the USPS clerk was very patient and helped me through it. Appreciate the gesture šŸ™

It's easy to get upset at a service when it doesn't do what it said it will, i.e: not getting mail, losing mail, getting others mail etc. I had to learn my first lesson of the USPS the hard way, by losing a package. I was helped with the utmost professionalism by Kate, she was enthusiastic and happy to help despite helping 4 crabby customers before me. She was a breath of fresh air in a moment of despair (that's a good song lyric, I get royalties if that becomes a hit) she helped me figure out a way to get my lost package back, and it seems to have worked. Kate, if you're reading this, this review is for you, not the place you work at. USPS is good, but Kate is Great!!

Waiting in line for a long time. I cannot believe they didnā€™t call for back up when the line is very long. Only one person working at the window. And took a passport application for family of 4 and still no back up. Unbelievable!
