Etaples Military Cemetery is the largest CWGC cemetery in France. It is located near Boulogne on the former site of a large military hospital complex used by the Allies during the First World War. The view here it is stunning, so many different regiments from various commonwealth countries all honoured together. Included is a section of German graves, Chinese graves and a large amount of Commonwealth graves. I brought a group here and several of the students presented projects for soldiers and nurses that they researched. One of the few cemeteries that also has a commonwealth general buried at it

Beautiful cemetery with wonderful flowers and a large entrance that is breathtaking. So many graves here it’s hard to imagine all of these young men and women fighting for freedom. There are places to park along the busy road which helps make it accessible to cars and large busses.

5 stars, but sorry Google, 'loved it' isn't appropriate. This is the single most touching, poignant place I have ever been; the scale of loss from World War 1 hits you the moment you reach the end of the entrance path and get a first glimpse of the graves of 10,000+ people who are laid to rest there. The cemetery is maintained impeccably and after spending just an hour or so there, is something I know my daughter and I will never forget. A very sad place, but if only everyone could see it, maybe the sacrifice of the soldiers who lie there would be all the more worthwhile, as I defy anyone to go to war after looking across those lawns.

You will not be prepared for the first sight of this astonishing place. So deeply moving. The sheer volume of graves takes your breath away. Thousands and thousands in all directions. If you ever want to teach your children the sheer, stupid futility of war, bring them here. You won't need to speak about it to them. You probably won't be able to. So quiet, so neat, not a blade of grass out of place. So many gave their lives. And for what ?

Couldn't believe how enormous this cemetery is. Graves as far as the eye could see.....and one lonely china-man.

Impressive in everything, history, location and it is the largest in Europe if not in the world with over 11,000 graves. Like all commonwealth cemeteries, it it well maintained and with most recent and improvement work taking place.

Kept in such good order and respectful to poor souls who did not live their lives due to war

Me and my year group came here in 2018 and a lot of us paid our respects to those souls lost from the war and was very peaceful to just sit around and think about the soldiers who saved our futures

Large military cemetery with over 11000 graves, mostly from the First World War. Like many similar places of remembrance in France, it is very peaceful and well kept. A fitting memorial for so many young people who lost their lives.
