Eating dinner at the fish market in Bergen is a great thing to do, but I had to give this restaurant less than 5 stars for one thing, the prices. The food was fairly good, and service was average, but the cost for the meals seemed really high for the portions. The seafood dishes were fresh and tasty, but we won’t likely return here to avoid the high prices.

A must visit when in Bergen!! Delicious fresh, local fish. A varied menu to suit anyone in your party. The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Light and crispy batter, super quality fish. The oysters were amazing! All the staff are so lovely. Special shout out to Lina for making my multiple visits so special 😊

Walked around the fish market and I really wanted to try the famous Bergen Fish Soup or Bergen Fiskessuppe. Saw the menu FishMe had this and we ordered the Bergen Fish Soup and the Rainbow Roll (Ebi shrimps, cream cheese, cucumber, topped with salmon, tuna, halibut, avocado, chili mayo, teriyaki and sesame sauce). The Bergen Fish Soup has a sweet but sour taste as well a a bit of creaminess. I really enjoyed the food, the only bad thing is there wasn't much fish or fish balls in the soup.

White fish was well seasoned and still juicy. Good combination of flavours and the sides complimented the fish nicely. Would come here again.

We thought this restaurant would be touristy, but the food surprised us. Seafood was fresh and tasty. We had their scallops, cod and salmon and would recommend them all. The scallops were probably my favourite and we had a nice view as well.

We came on 31st December evening without reservation and still they accommodated us for a quick lunch. The fish is exquisite. We rounded it off with some delicious Sushi. If you are a seafood lover you won't mind the price..

Tasty and fresh fish, served in a clean, modern way. Just what you want from a seafood restaurant. My only complaint are the small black dining chairs. They have horrible ergonomics and were the only reason I didn't come back.

Looks like a simple bar, you go in, get a menu, order at the bar. But it's when you get the food you realise it's something more. The food is really really good, presentation is nice, portions are generous and prices are really affordable. I would very much recommend this place.

Get the Poke Bowl! So much food for a very good price! Fresh seafood. I got the Bergen Fish soup. Very authentic and they even offer gluten free bread as an alternative to the normal bread. We definitely want to go back. Go here! It's awesome. Friendly staff and great views.

This place is a must do for anyone visiting Bergen. The last time I was in town I got to try a few things at the outdoor fish market since it was summer but this trip we made time to sit in the restaurant. It is very cool to sit that close to the water in a glass confinement so the seagulls don’t take your dinner. The menu is HUGE. There is something for everyone and the servers are great about answering any questions you have. We ordered oysters, sushi, a rice bowl, and apple cake for dessert. Everything was delicious and started our trip off on a great foot. You can also walk through the market and take a peek at all the seafood before or after eating. A lovely experience!

We went there to try Bergen Fish Soup and we couldn't be more disappointed. Fish stock was very flat, you could barely find any fish in it. We were expecting classic with some more seafood or at least good fish... You should look for better place if you want to taste this famous dish. Service was very nice though.

The atmosphere is great near to the Fjord cruise jetty. It forms part of the fish market where you can get all your seafood needs. I tried the whalemeat dish and was not disappointed. Good service

I loved this place. From the reviews I was reluctant a bit so I searched around for other restaurants with fresh seafood and for some reason I couldn't find places that are cheaper - they all had the same range around this area in Bergen. I'm glad I ended up trying it because the salmon I got was divine! The mood of the place is nice, the staff was wonderfully nice so I must say, I was pleased. Of course, it is not a cheap place so keep that in mind.

We had the spicy mussels and the fish and chips. Both dishes were outstanding. For touristy Bergen the prices were more than reasonable. Will definitely come back.

Our second visit in 1 week. 1st visit we tried the whale steak n smoked whale salad. Love it. Second visit we had tge same salad and try out the Atlantic platter for 2. The snow crabs were delicious. Good seafood choices.

Fish Me: Expensive tourist trap from hell, go anywhere else. We were two people, did not reserve a table but were accommodated after waiting a few minutes. The atmosphere is what you see, busy, noisy and cold; doors are open pretty much all the time. We had troubles communicating with our waiter in both Norwegian and English, she had troubles catching my order of one pilsner, ended up with a coke zero. We ordered two starters (fish soup & local platter) and two main courses (king crab and burger), this seems to be too much for this establishment to handle. We waited for 50 minutes before the first dishes arrived, they served both the starter and main course to one of the guests at the same time. We declined this service, as we expect to be served all starters first. It then subsequently took them 5 minutes to serve both starters. We received our main courses about 1h30m after we placed our orders. The wait was so long we contemplated leaving the place before our starters arrived, we were shrugged of by the waiter when we reached out for information. Our starters were tasty, no complaints. But our main courses were so dry that our mouths turned into Sahara, almost like they reheated our dishes (we saw them ready to be served at the same time as our starters, then taken back into the kitchen). Upon paying they gave us the bill for another table, but it was easy to solve. This place is a disgrace to dining in Norway, you are better off buying a sausage if you want good seafood dish.

Amazing location, great fresh food, good prices for Norway, just a bit slow serving. In the picture you can see the salmon with champagne sauce and the whale with fresh herbs. Also the sushi is very good. Higly recommended 👌

Delicious sushi on the water. We were there in winter, this part of the fish market was warm and welcoming. The fish market itself is full of wonderful creatures of the sea.

Wondrous city to visit! I’d come here for the fish market alone, not to mention the many other attractions. Special highlights and mentions to reindeer dog with lingonberry jam and the Nordic seafood soup at one of the nearby stands.

The best salmon I’ve ever had 😍 the place is quite cute! It’s a restaurant located within the fish market, indoors. It’s a bit pricey for people from outside of the country but quite average for Norway. Also, try their fish soup! 😍

  • 3/5 Edward S. 5 years ago on Google
A 5 star service by the staff for sure. We had an excellent open face caviar . A poorly executed Torbut. The filleted fish still had blood on the inside. Which was partially cooked sfter reheating. A seafood platter all of which were probably defrosted . A lobster bisque soup was meaty and savory although it had too much thickener. The whale meat steak was perfectly done. 2 star for value and execution. But the waiters were excellent hence deserve additional star for a good dinning experience.

The fish is fresh, and the food is tasty. Great portions. The price is similar to most places in Bergen, but the freshness of the seafood here is much better. Definitely worth a visit. It is cold in the winter even with the radiators - wrap up!

(Translated by Google) Excellent. We ate a seafood platter like we had never had before. Delicious selected pieces. Copious. Few shellfish but lots of crustaceans including king crab. And, it is quite rare to say it, the plate was not invaded by small shrimps without great interest. I recommend. Only one negative point: the dining rooms. In the veranda, it is too hot behind the windows and indoors, the room is not pleasant. (Original) Excellent.

(Translated by Google) During our 3-day visit to Bergen at the beginning of August 2020, we stopped by Mathallen with the companies Fiskeskål and Fish Me and others who, among other things. had live shellfish and large-crabs ("Russian-crabs") in large water tanks, fresh fish, freshly cooked shrimp, several types of shells, smoked salmon and many other seafood delicacies for sale. Adjacent to Mathallen, food was served from these counters to the diners in the restaurant. M.a.o. veldig kortreist sjømat.🙂

We ordered a gravlaks, Bergen fish soup and a shellfish soup. The gravlax was good, but the shellfish soup tasted suspiciosly like the premade lobster soups some restaurants buy frozen and just heat up. The soup did have some nice big fresh lobster chunks in it though. The Bergen fish soup we never tried before, so don't have anything to compare it to, but thought it was a little bland, although ok. I think you have to be very selective about what you order here.

Our food took forever! We waited 50 minutes for our starters, and then they tried to serve my starter and main course at the same time. This place is unorganized and overpriced. However, I did like the fish soup but the king crab was dry. I would not dine here again and would not recommend this place to others.

This restaurant is a disgrace to Bergen and it’s reputation. We went there for lunch and should probably have seen the signals that this is a tourist trap when we saw the menu. There was absolutely nothing on the menu indicating that they would serve anything close fresh fish. Options like shrimps on a piece of bread, salmon burger, fish and chips were not really what we expected from a fish market “restaurant”. We ordered the first two options (shrimps and salmon burger) and waited 45 mins only for the waiter (who seemed more annoyed that we were there) to come back and announce that they were out of salmon burger. How can it take 45 mins to figure out that you’re out of salmon burgers? This was just yet another sign that they don’t prepare food fresh. How else would you run out of salmon before you even open for dinner? We then opted for the fish and chips which luckily came 10 mins later. Throwing fish in the deep fryer and putting some shrimps on a piece of bread shouldn’t take more than that anyways. The fish lacked taste, the shrimps were not peeled properly and the fries were extremely salty. It’s obvious that no love was put into “making” the food. Unfortunately I don’t have other recommendations for great fish restaurants in Bergen, but please do yourself and everyone else a favor and stay away from this place. You would get more value for the money by buying the fish burger at McDonalds.

Mainly Italian food. They have burgers, salads, meat dishes as well. Amazing draft beers. We opted for the vegetarian lasagna, a caprese salad and hummus appetizer. Everything was delicious, though I would have preferred the lasagna be more saucy, but that's just me. My friend enjoyed his. The establishment is located in an alley-type area, kind of secluded, but it's quite cozy. We sat by a window with a view of the wall across the street, so basically no lovely views. Overall a nice spot to check out if you're in the mood for pizzas and pastas.

The menu is large, but clearly the portion pizza is something they sell a lot of. Yes the portion pizza is worth the money and highly recommended. Anyway, this is a place to visit if you want to treat yourself to something good to drink and eat without going too far beyond the economy. The place is recommended if you want to try, for example, to eat a late lunch, or if you just want to treat yourself to something reasonable and good later in the evening. Uansett er dette et sted å besøke om man vil unne seg noe godt å drikke og spise uten at det går for hardt utover økonomien. The only reason it’s not getting five stars was once we were served our food, we could NOT find our server anywhere even though the restaurant was basically empty. It took us over an hour after we finished eating to get our check. My advice- ask for the check when the food comes!

Good food and a nice place inside the fish market. The terrace is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Better make a reservation in advance, otherwise there will be waiting involved. I went at 20.00 with no reservation , found no table, and was politely asked if I could come back at 21.00 ,on the promise of being seated straight away. Indeed, an hour later, the same waiter remembered me and had me seated as soon as he saw me. The meal was a bit expensive, but in accordance with the quality you get. Not for everyday dining, but if you have limited time and want to get the most from a city famous for its seafood, as Bergen, then this restaurant is definetely worth the visit.

We had an excellent meal here last week. The only drawback that was that my sisters’ soup was pretty cold. Very touristy location of course but the seafood was reasonable priced and tasty!

Waterfront food hall dedicated to fish. It is possible to find a meal for every kind of palate: from traditional Norwegian dishes to sushi.

Incredibly underwhelming. Even with 3 waitresses in the section I was in and what I assume is limited seating capacity (I tried to have dinner here the night before but was told they were filled to capacity) every table was waiting so long for their food that irritation set in their faces (unless they ordered dishes that are served cold). My waitress was very apologetic and the plate was arranged very prettily but the flavors left much to be desired and everything was freaking room temperature. The wine they recommended to pair with the meal was the best thing about it but not only was the glass much less than half full, I was never offered a refill or even checked on throughout my meal. $70 USD for a subpar experience... never again. 😒

We did 4 days and 3 nights in Bergen…ended up eating here all 3 nights (we did look elsewhere but, kept being drawn back to Fish Me) Amazing food! We sampled the Fish Soup, Mussels in cream sauce, Pan Fried Flounder, Reindeer, sea food pasta, sushi and a variety of desserts. It was expensive but no more than anywhere else we saw. Definitely recommend

Inside the fish market on the Bergen pier, overlooking the Bryggen. You can choose from many fish and shellfish dishes, all exclusively fresh, displayed on the counter in front of you! The quality of the fish and the way it is cooked is excellent, simple dishes without too many contaminations, to perfectly enhance the flavors. The prices are in line with the Norwegian average, the portions are rather generous, the staff are polite and at the same time professional

Not a cheap place to eat, but if you want to eat here without breaking the bank (as far as Bergen prices go), definitely try the Fish soup/stew and/or the Salmon & Scrambled Egg baguette. The seafood is fresh and tastes amazing. My wife and I felt like we got to try some truly amazing seafood without going broke. The apple cake and ice cream was just "icing on the cake". Great service and the food not only looked great, but also tasted fantastic!

This restaurant gifted me a very pleasant experience: the food was excellent and of very good quality and the restaurant's staff took care of me and my friend in a very kind way, making us feel very comfortable the whole time. The view was simply amazing! Overall, choosing this restaurant for our dinner was a very good idea, and even though we had to wait for a bit outside the restaurant before dinner (which I think was normal given the size of the location), I'd definitely come back!

We wanted to have some nice seafood while in Bergen so we stopped in here. Cute place, cozy atmosphere and all the staff friendly. We had the king crab legs, Bergen fish soup and a rainbow row. All fresh and flavorful!

3/5 for service. Staff seems too busy to serve so many guests. So guest won’t be taken well care of because they seems lacks some hands here. 3/5 for value and food. Freshness of the mussels are not good. They taste bad. The seafood served came a bit cold. I’d be better if they serve them hot or grilled. They added some oil on seafood which is a bit too much that it covers the original seafood flavour a bit. And it taste worse when it turns cold. 3/5 for ambience. The view is not bad but window seems blowing cold airs in. No heating lamp and food turned cold before we finish them. In short, not as good as expected. And seafood freshness can be really improved.

We wanted a local Norwegian seafood experience and we found it! The waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, made good recommendations and spoke perfect English. The Bergen fish soup is typical of local cuisine but a bit too creamy for me. Really enjoyed the oysters, the fresh shrimps ( will come back just a plate of the delicate fresh baby shrimps )! We really liked that it was a seafood market as well, which meant the inventory of seafood and shellfish selection are at its freshest and in abundance. We were told that it would be a hot colder because it is in a glass room outside the market, but we found it to be nice. Just our toes were a bit cold at the end of dinner. Otherwise, it was comfortable, there’s overhead heat lamps, reindeer fur seating, and extra blankets. Good idea to reserve a table and ask to be placed under a heat lamp.

We went there to walk and we got attracted to this place while walking and peaking on the fresh fish in the display. Loved the view sitting in an outdoor glass room having the sky clouds above our heads. We order fish and chips, few sushi items and salmon over baked course and white fish baked oven Another mussels item and a shrimp plate. All were delicious and tasty. The waiter were so friendly and helpful.

One the best choices for sea food specialities in Bergen. Located right at the harbour and the fish market, this restaurant offers a fine choice of various fishes and other delicious seas species.

Went here for lunch on a rainy day. We tried the Sashimi (Chef's choice 10 pieces), and asked the waiter if we could get the Whale, Salmon and Halbut in the 10 pieces mix. However only recieved tuna, salmon and halibut - which were not bad at all. For mains we had the Whale steak with mash and Fish soup. It was our first time trying whale and it was not bad. Fish soup was great.

We ordered a crayfish with potatoes and salad, as well as grilled cod. Both were fresh and delicious. Recommend all to make a reservation with the staff and request for a seat next to the harbour. The scenary is beautiful. Service is good and attentive, and one of the restaurants that we recommend

Excellent food with best view over the port but the staff service wasn't attentive. The waiter even didn't know how much the food is for a dish when we asked, hence it turned out to be too little when being served, then we had to order more & wait

Great ambiance, but the food was too expensive. We are so disappointed with the seafood that we ordered, not fresh at all. The snow crab and langoustins were dried. Our halibut was overcooked too... I only loved the mushy peas. I was really looking forward to try for Norwegian seafood. Dissatisfied. However, the waiter was nice and friendly.

(Visited in May 2022). Like everything in Norway, this place is super expensive for what you get. The food was nice, but not amazing. For me, it was my value (but then that is the same story for everywhere here). I give it four stars as I ignore the price element, which was reasonable by Bergen standard, and review it based on the food. I don’t know why fish has to be covered in a sauce?

Our seafood dining experience truly stood out in this place. Sushi sharing plate was fantastic, Tuna roll melted in my mouth. My main, the local halibut, was cooked to perfection and succulent in every sense. The flesh was tender, flavors were perfectly balanced, and it was a delight from the first bite to the last. Service is efficient and unobtrusive; you'll never find yourself looking around for a waiter. The wine was good. My friend was slightly disappointed by their scallops, though. In summary, Fish Me exceeded expectations.

I enjoyed this place. We ordered some sushi and also a seafood linguine. We sat near the sushi bar. The ordering system was done via QR code and website. Payment was also done online via credit card. Registration was relatively straightforward. If you do not like online ordering, there is the option nearby to order with a traditional waiter.

The restaurant creates a charming atmosphere, the quality of meals is good, but it is a little bit expensive. I.e. 1) bread filled with salmon: 15€ 2) fish plate: 35/40€
