Egon Kjøttbasaren

Restaurant

👍 A hearty place with sumptuous dare. The sun was blazing when I ate here, a rarity on Bergen, so I picked a pleasant table in the shade and dined on an enormous steak pizza. If you want a reliable spot to eat here in Bergen, I highly recommend coming here. People often mention good, table, order, nice, pizza, Egon, Bergen, steak, service, delicious,

Good selection of beers and alcohols drinks in general. Food was ok for me, I like more seasoned. It has good prices for some dishes or something like pizza buffet. Also, you order at the bar (even food) with your table number.

A typical tourist restaurant with quite some good options and variety. We‘ve been seated very fast and you order either online or at the bar (and pay straight away). I think that was very clever, fast and easy. We didn’t need to wait long for our food and it was very tasty. Can recommend a stop over, also if you have not much time. Very well organized and kind service.

EGON Restaurant in Bergen/ Norway 04 / 2022 One of the EGON Restaurants, good area to seat, inside or outside. Outside the traffic little disturbing. Inside nice Ambience, much different meals at the menu card. For old to young people something. You can go alone, family with kids or.... Restaurant place near the harbour. I found it cozy there!

What do you do in Bergen when it rains? You go to Egon and have absolutely delicious food served. The waiters are super nice and the location is very beautiful. 🎉😋

This place is in an ideal location, the architecture and ambiance of the building is great - BUT - the food and the service sucks. We spent several days in Bergen, ate at a ton of great restaurants, and this one was not even in the same universe. The food was bland, cheap ingredients, minuscule amounts and way overpriced for what you get. Our appetizers appeared to have been microwaved frozen foods. On top of that the service was horrible, messing up our party of 5 order 3 times. There are 100 other options to eat in Bergen, pick any of them above this.

The restaurant was nice and the style of them are very good. The food was very delicious. You have to wait at the front and a waitress brings you to your place. If you want to have a drink or food you have to go to the bar. You order everything there. After that you gave them your table number and pay directly there. It is very relaxed there. At the weekend you must wait a little bit.

I'm always a bit skeptical when a restaurant has a wide range of cuisines, but the food was really very good! The steak was perfectly grilled and obviously high quality, the veggies were delicious, and best of all... the mochi as dessert! Truly of the best desserts I've ever had!!

1 vegan dish on the menu. It was really good but it had a lot of rice and too little of the "vchicken". QR code leads you to their website where you order. No cocktails available on their site, only mocktails which was super odd (you could see hard liquor on the shelfs). We sat outside. If it gets cold there are heaters that you can ask them to turn on and blankets. Cosy atmosphere.

They have a little bit of everything, but they do it really well. Indoor seating is the good kind of cozy (candle on every table) and the outdoor seating provides a great view of Bryggen.

Good atmosphere, lots of tables both inside and outside. Staff was friendly. It was quite busy, and staff did not make us feel rushed to leave our table. Food was good. Toilets were clean. Inside there is a small area where children can play.

Restaurant inside it’s quite dark and outside it’s very comfy. Except for the constant threat of seagulls and the street noise. The food is okay, good price for Norway and they have great student discounts. I had the all you can eat pizza and salad once, left me disappointed with only two choices of pizza and one really sad salad with one dressing. The second time I had a Thai chicken bowl with sweet and sour dressing that was okay.

Delicious pizza buffet for a very reasonable price. Pizzas were hot and fresh and replaced regularly. Salad was crunchy and fresh too. Staff were friendly and helpful. I got there around 12 and it was nice and peaceful. When I left a couple of hours later it was rather busy and noisy with screaming children, so I recommend getting there early to avoid the crowds.

Can‘t help but feeling ripped off… We ordered a starter, a burger and an medium rare entrecôte. When we got the food, the entrecôte was almost cold. I didn‘t want to complain just yet, so we continued eating. Eating the entrecôte was quite the battle, it was very chewy, tough and raw on big parts of the meat (as seen on the picture). When the waitress came and asked if everything was alright, I told her that my steak was too raw and asked if they could cook it a bit longer. She told me no, as I have started eating it already and then she left. That was it. How is that acceptable? Haha, what‘s the point of asking if you‘re not going to do anything anyway, also let‘s say I wanted my steak just to be warmer, how else am I going to find out except eating it? Wouldn‘t a hot pan or whatever they are „cooking“ on kill the bacteria transmitted by the fork that I put in the steak to cut it? Anyway excepted more as we paid over $100. Make a smaller menu and stick with what you‘re good at.

Good food, good taste, but I quite confuse to order 😝, you need to have a menu then make an order at the counter then have a seat at your selected table. Very good cocktail and service, they has the outside table also.

'Ello chaps! Egon is a Norwegian restaurant concept that first opened in Oslo in 1984. Since then it's expanded across the country. There is MUCH to love about the Egon restaurants, of which we visited several across Norway multiple times. The ambience is unique and not a typical restaurant. The menu is large and everyone in your party is guaranteed to find something. Burgers, chicken sandwich, steak, salad, pizza, vegetarian options. Everyone will find something. I also love the operation of Egon (and most restaurants in Norway) as it's more efficient than restaurants in other places, such as the United States. Here's how it works: You get seated at a marked table with menus. Take your time looking over the menus. When you're ready, order at the bar. Tell them your table number and what you'd like. You pay right then and there. Food comes out in a short bit - delicious! - and enjoy. When you're all set and ready to go --- GO! Love the efficiency, the food, the ambience, and compared to currency standards in Norway, it's a good value. Overall I give Egon restaurants 5 stars out of 5. TIP: Especially for American diners, soft drinks/soda will be a bit more expensive than at home and NO FREE REFILLS. Also, be sure to ask for tap water if that's what you'd like (and ice too. They're happy to give it to ya if you ask). Tap water in Norway is DELICIOUS. Better quality than bottled water.

Gluten free options were available and the staff actually came and checked after we had ordered because one of the mains includes a little gluten! Excellent service. Fish soup was delicious, setting and ambiance fabulous. Well worth a visit

Delicious fresh food. Party of 10 was seated immediately. Service was happy, everyone was pleasant, food was delicious and fresh! Had the fish soup which was lemony fresh tasting and Norwegian. All the Asian bowls were also great let our dining companions. They had amazingly soft bread and butter. Crisp salads and fresh ingredients. Service was top notch and prices were average for Norway. Good tourist spot right on the main drag. And though we ate outside watching the hustle and bustle it’s romantic and stunning inside, candlelit and dim with stone accents and wooden tables.

Great food. Long wait time. Plenty of sitting area but usually crowded with a queue especially when it’s sunny. You can order online or at the bar. Indoors has quite different ambiance compared to outside. The former is more darker with candle lights and so. Outside is more casual and presents a nice vibe of the town. You’ll find a lot of tourists here. Their Chicken Bowl from Asian menu is my favorite! Very filling and healthy.

Very nice atmosphere. The fishsoup is very good! Prices are relatively low for norwegian standards. You have to order at the bar and thw food will be served to your table.

Once you have eaten at Egon, you have eaten at all egons. In my opinion there are better restaurants with better steak or fish dishes for the price Egon charges. Otherwise it's a child friendly place ,that is what makes me go there regardless of the food.

Nice envinroment, but pizza buffet was disappointment. Menu said that there would be salad table, and there literally was only lettuce available, not anything else, and it already looked pretty bad. Small selection of pizzas (1 or 2 different), but it was nice that they made vegetarian pizza when we asked.

The meat is tasty but it was ruined by the extremely cold bread surrounding the burger. Won’t come back.
