Excellent experience. Friendly staff, Great food (I ordered veggie Samosa and chicken byriani). Also good atmosphere and reasonable prices. Loved it Edit: I am changing my review to a one star based on “three visits” experience. Apparently it is all about how friendly and welcoming is the host. The first 5-stars rating was mostly because of one male waiter who had a permanent smile on his face and an amazing welcoming attitude. This is the secret to a successful catering business people, maybe more than good food!! The other two visits we have been served by a rude woman who just kept straight face with obvious signs of boredom and/or anger!! I was with my wife and we entered the restaurant while its almost empty but she insist the we cant choose a table because they are “reserved” and she put us on a small table beside the entrance which was annoying. My wife didn’t like the table so I asked the waitress if we can go upstairs where they have extra room. She replied positive rudely! And took us upstairs to a table that was also in front of the stairs while the space was empty!! We didn’t like that either and decided to leave. When we told her that we are leaving she said that we can set on any table we want !!!!! What about the “reservations” ?!! I, as a customer, don’t care at all if you are busy or stressed from life problems or even if you are in a bad mood!! I pay MONEY $$$ for this food and service, and you are supposed to match the value of the 40+$ byriani or whatever expensive food you have! You are not giving it to me for free!! (I said reasonable price in the first review based on relative comparison with prices in Bergen overall) Conclusion: NOT recommended and won’t go again there. I would rather recommend the Indian restaurant on Marken street. They have better food and service. And they are cheaper (by half the price on some dishes!!)

VERY BAD INDIAN restaurant i found in my life.. first time ever i found a reception lady talking rudely to customers.. We ran away from there.. some others also, We travelled around 19 countries in europe we used indian restaurant always but i never found a small indian restaurant dealing so badly.. Then we go to next indian restaurant "Arti Indisk Sentrum" only 100meter far from this rest. It is very nice serving large quantity.. These people misusing name of our Great Maharaja..

One of the best Dal Makhani I have had in Europe. The chicken curry was very good as well. I would certainly call it an authentic Indian restaurant. The service is always smiling and ready to accommodate requests.

Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Bergen, Norway. The service is unmatched. The staff(all from India) truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best Indian food taste we had while outside India. Highly recommend. The chef is from Himachal North India and serves you truely the taste from North India .

This restaurant mainly caters for groups, so they have absolutely bad service for individual customers. We waited and had to keep calling someone to take orders, to receive food, for bills, cutleries everything. Very bad service. Food is not tasty and fresh at all and the quantity (its for lunch menu) was low too.

Highly Recommended Indian Restaurant!!!! Being an Indian I rarely like food served by Indian restraunts but when we visited this Indian restaurant and tasted their food, the only word which came out of our mouth was "Yummmmm". The food is really tasty and staff is really nice. They even prepared a dish on request which was not even a part of the menu. My experience of this restaurant was amazing and I highly recommend others to taste their food 😍.

Few of the starters were good but the main course was pathetic to say the least and in the name of a medium spicy butter chicken they served us sweet butter chicken.. won't recommend this especially to an Indian who understands food..

Bought take away for dinner. Food was packaged well for take away, and the staff were very helpful. Unfortunately, the food was so mildly spiced that I could hardly taste the curry. Maybe folks in Scandinavia don't appreciate spicy food? Good quantity, though, so at least we didn't go hungry.

I absolutely love this Indian restaurant! It's undeniably the best – I've dined here many times and it never disappoints.The food is hands down the yummiest in town.The cozy atmosphere, top-notch service, and the addition of Indian beers make it a delightful experience. Highly recommend!

Visited this place a few times during my stay in Bergen and really liked that they serve authentic Indian food and don’t tailer it to meet the local taste. The garlic naan was certainly one of their highlights!

Staff service was very good but only I don't like there is no wifi available for guest. And we have to connect some other restaurant wifi and there is perticular table in restaurant to use that wifi. Really disappointed with the owner the facilities was not available.

Loved the experience from start to finish. The place is nice and the food was amazing and halal plus the host was a welcoming gentleman. I noticed most bad reviews are from 5 years ago and it's obvious that the restaurant has improved. Definitely worth a visit!

We had dinner at Maharaja.palak paneer was average.could not eat it .mixed veg curry was good but oily. Dal makhni was ok.highlight was Gulab jamun..it was nice

I saw maximum Indians coming to this hotel , the waiter was very cold in taking order and was bit arrogant. I suggest better you eat some good food in another Indian hotel!

We didn’t have a reservation for dinner, but they still made arrangements to seat us immediately. Food was good but took a really really long time to be served. When I ordered a fish dish , they said it will take 20 mins, but it took almost an hr.

Best indian restaurant in Bergen. I rarely like Indian food in foreign countries but here the food tasted the same as we get in India. The quantity, quality and taste was ultimate. The staff is very attentive and friendly. This place is definitely underrated and deserve better rating. I will highly recommend visiting this restaurant. We really had a great time there and will consider to visit again.

Stumbled upon this place for lunch with some colleagues. First good sign in an Indian restaurant is mostly Indian patrons. Your own people are the harshest critics! We were happy with our selections even though the prices were a little much. But what isn't in Norway? My 1 complaint was the buffet downstairs. It needs to look tidy at all times or people will be turned off when they walk through the door. I ate from the menu so I can't comment on its offering though.

This place is SO good! We got the garlic naan, tadka lentils that just melted in your mouth and actually was spicy to my liking, and the paneer tikki masala with very fresh paneer. 10/10 would recommend and come back.

Having grown up in Kashmir and settled in Chandigarh, Punjab, it was natural for me to order lamb rogan josh and butter chicken. Guess what! Every bite was delicious and yummy. In town and looking for Indian cuisine, Maharaja is the place to be.

We came to bergen for day with a group of 40 people and our travel company took us here for dinner. Food was not enough for everybody and 5 people were left. The manager was so arrogant that he was behaving like we're some kind of uncultured people. Pathetic service and behaviour. Indians treating fellow indians like this is so very sad to see. Worst experience ever.
